My husband and I were craving sushi today, and Kenko-Ya did not disappoint! We had three rolls, the sunshine roll, the spicy tuna roll, and the spicy California roll. You also get a free appetizer of bean sprouts and edamame which was a nice starter. Not only was the food phenomenal, but the staff was super friendly. Definitely recommend this place if you need a sushi fix.

Cute place. I had the full shrimp tempura meal which was okay. The miso soup was too salty and the salad was wet and soggy iceberg. The waitresses were very nice. Fair Warning, do not use the resturant's bathroom; it is totally disgusting!

Don't go this restaurant. Food has gone bad and bad smell on water glass.

When we first arrived, the line felt like it was long, but it moved fast(it was a Friday evening, so a line was expected). The above was excellent, but even it paled in comparison to the food itself, which was downright amazing, and that's not a word I often use when describing restaurants. Will definitely be back.

Worst restaurant on the island. My family and I went there for supposed dinner the other night. Bad food, bad experience and the worst customer service ever. We left hangry.

They will reopen for dine in service on December 7, 2020. Pandemic takeout, no problem! Food still tasted delicious. Ate in the car because as usual it was raining in Kaneohe. Didnt want to drive back to town and eat cold, soggy food.

First time here today and it was some of the best sushi I’ve had. The meal came in good time and everything was very reasonably priced for the island. The service was amazing, our waitress was very hospitable and quick on making sure we had everything we needed!! Would absolutely recommend to anyone who likes Japanese food!!

Embarrassing service and quality. Salad is lettuce soaked in thousand island dressing! Salad dressing is not mentioned on the menu or by the server and not Japanese cuisine, this ruined the lettuce they call salad. "Appetizers" are a joke, 4 pods of tiny edamame, and a dash of bean sprouts soaked in salty soy sauce, so the bean sprouts were inedible. Received a Raw egg after asking if the egg that comes with the Udon is cooked and told it is cooked. Yellow yolk flowed all over the udon noodles. The Udon was supposed to come with chicken and there was barely two pieces of tiny chicken in the bowl. The udon bowl was boiling and loaded with steam when it came out so it was impossible to eat or enjoy until much time passed to cool it. Server forgot us while we waited to place our order, waited 15-20 minutes with the menu off to the side to make clear we were ready to order. When the miso soup came out, there was no soup spoon so instead if waiting longer I had to go to the counter and ask for a spoon for the miso soup. The main course came before the "appetizers" so after waiting 10 min, I went to the counter to ask the server who was cleaning if the appetizers were on the way. Server said oh my mistake and disappeared I supposed she went to correct her deficiency. I sat down at the soy sauce soaked bean sprouts and 4 edamame pods arrived. By the time I sorted out the mess, the main dish of cheap white rice and chicken served first was cold.

Great restaurant!!! I am from out of town and I passed by this restaurant and it felt right to walk in and order. I am glad I did! It is a nice local joint that does business the good old fashioned way. Great service and value and hence has repeat customers.

Always my go to spot for delicious fishy freshness after work .. (and bento boxes before ze beach!) The salmon sashimi, calamari, baked salmon & misoyaki butterfish are pure freaking delight.. I literally dream about them when eating anything less than their quality 🌿🥺

I have always loved this little place. The food is really excellent. I treated myself to a steak and lobster sizzling plate and my daughter's katsu chicken was so crispy and fresh. One could see it was real chicken she was eating. The udon noodles were perfectly cooked. It was a treat for since we moved to Kailua, we really do not need to go anywhere, unless it is a need, for Kailua does offer everything.

The serving of the Nabeyaki udon has shrunk with 2 bites of chicken. Flavor is good, but times have changed.

OMG, IF YOU LOVE JAPANESE STYLE FOOD, ENJOY AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A SENSE OF URGENCY FOR THE PATRONS. YOU'LL LOVE EATING AT THIS RESTAURANT. THEY HAVE IT ALL. THE TEAMWORK ALONE MAKES YOU SEE HOW HARD SOME PURPLE ARE WILLING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND DEFINE THEIR RESTAURANT FROM EVERYONE ONE ELSE. THEY HAVE WAITING LISTS DURING BUSY TIMES THOUGH THE PEOPLE ARE NEVER LEFT WAITING VERY LONG. I RECOMMEND TO ALL WHO WANT A GREAT EXPERIENCE IF SIMPLY EATING OUT. 😀

Man this place was so busy...tried to go there twice and 30min++ wait each time. Second finally got in. I love the variety of selections for their bentos!! We shared and I enjoyed everything that was on the table... Kudos to the lady running the till and also running to bring out the food, i think that was the owner maybe? The waitress that originally helped us was not very good though, missed giving us spoons for the soup but the owner lady helped us right away when i asked. All in, was a good experience and i would go back! Maybe at a earlier time away from regular dinner time.

Kenko Ya was a great, cozy spot in Kaneohe. I ordered the bento with tempura and sashimi. The tempura was fried absolutely perfectly - super crispy and not too bready. The sashimi was a decent portion of fish, and really fresh. The sukiyaki was also a big surprise, and had a very bold umami and sweet flavor. I would absolutely order either of those again. This spot is super busy, so get here early or make reservations.

The food and service is so good here. I love the sushi and dinner plates. Miso soup is very good too.

very nice interior decorations. However Sushi is pricey for the value definitely not worth sushi to go at mid range restaurants dining prices. The spicy tuna roll trying after we got home was to spicy to eat and we threw it away. That was $14 just for 8 pieces.

Delicious Japanese food. Teishoku and sushi are good. Service is quick. Fridays can be busy but small parties (under 4) still get seated pretty quick.

Can't wait for them to open again. Google says they are open but I drove by there for dinner and they are still closed... I keep calling to see when they will open but the voice mail has been turned off which has me worried the closure might be a while.... Does anyone know if they will open again or are they closing down for good??? :-(

Someone mentioned the water cup tasted funny, I noticed that as well as the miso soup bowl having a metallic smell and taste. The pork cutlet in the combination was like overdone toast. The other foods were good, but most annoying was the female server addressing all the women customers as "Aunty".
