We stayed here as a family for 3-nights. The service was amazing. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable. The food was excellent and certainly the tastiest Chettinad cuisine we have had. The facilities however were disappointing. The mansion itself is old and crumbling. It needs a lot of maintenance and the owners need to do some work here. The rooms are very bare and apart from a bed, contain nothing else - not even a wardrobe, cupboard, fridge or television. The bathrooms are quite terrible and are not international tourist standard. Therefore, the place in general does not offer good value for money. There is nothing to do in the village. The closest proper town is Karaikudi, which is 15kms away and you need a car to get around.

We came here for lunch and wow a real deal of experience it was. The hospitality was so perfect and everyone around was willing to help. We had plans earlier to stay here but we were unable to since it was a very last minute plan. So they arranges a tour around the mansion as well which was great! Towards the end of the tour they showed us their rooms and also handed over a beautiful booklet. Quite impressive overall. Coming to the food bit, everything was really good however, I expected them to pour a but more of quantity of non veg and few options in dessert section, otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed and in-fact planning to take our family there next time!

Manager attitude. their food is average and you need to order well before time..they won't accept orders even it's 30mins late. Mind you this place is away from main city and they did not serve dinner because of 30 min late ( actually ordered 6.00pm instead of 5.30 for a 8.pm dinner) i had 5 year old kid, went to city for dinner.

Chettinadu Mansion is a heritage resort located in Kanadukathan which is over 100 years old and has been opened to the public as a resort for quite some years now. It is still a very well maintained heritage resort and is a perfect place for the ones who wish to experience the bygone times of Chettinad.

Old Chettinad mansion that is now boutique hotel. It is like stepping back in time. Cycle around the old village as the sun is setting. Unique experience.

The location is good and property is maintained well. The rooms are not airy and lack of an outdoor balcony can be problem for some. The food can be better and if you can spend little more you should definitely choose other good options in Kothamangalam or Ramchandrapuram villages with other itineraries.

Every person should experience this amazing authenticated mansion atleast once in their life time. Ambience, food and people over there are amazing. Kanadukathan is a quaint village with fairytale Chettinad mansions. The village abounds in natural beauty & abundant birdlife. Chettinadu Mansion was a spectacular heritage experience. Unique in its setting, grandeur of scale, great views, some quirkiness and a lot of history, it was enriching in every way. Mr.Gopakumar is a great host & has vast knowledge of the history, culture, property & cuisine. The F & B quality, variety & presentation was outstanding. He's an asset to Chettinadu Mansion. Look forward to returning soon.

What an amazing stay, brilliant friendly staff. Nothing is an issue. Just ask and they will be more than happy to help you out. They have no charge pedal bikes so you can explore the town and map is included, all the local people are so friendly. The hotel is peaceful and relaxing. Amazing rooms with your own balcony if your looking for privacy, if you need a fridge they are more than happy to put your things in their fridge downstairs. There is an off sight pool, men need to wear a sari. Don't book anywhere else this place is Clean, tidy and you have your own huge balcony if you want privacy

Except that it is pricey all good. But one thing this place is working to attract foreigners. So we local Indians can easily feel that. By seeing the food cost you will know. And also by the spiciness. They dont provide authentic Chettinad cuisine at all. They charge you a lot for that but serving gives you the good feel.

Gifted a stay for my parents in this mansion and they had a memorable stay there. The mansion is beautiful. The staff is immensely friendly and they were accommodative to special requests. They also ensured my parents s were well taken care of. Definitely recommend this place.

This hotel is well located and close to the Palace. The rooms are comfortable and clean. No footwear is permitted and that makes it difficult; without wearing slippers or flip-flops. The old mansion has a lot of history and the great grandson of the original owner in his 80s is an interesting person to talk too. Room service is painfully slow despite the fact that we were the only guests at that time.

Excellent service - everything else is secondary. You feel like you are staying in a palace and all your needs are fully taken care of. Staff are very polite, friendly, knowledgeable about the town, history, culture and food. Rooms were spacious, very comfortable and all amenities were available. Good selection of food for breakfast buffet. Limited variety, but authentic local food was available. Taste was great. Coffee, tea and other beverages were available for order. There was complimentary welcome drink and coffee/tea/juice available with breakfast buffet. The Mansion was rich in culture, architecture and heritage. Every wall, pillar, ceiling, floor had some interesting facts. The manager explained in detail the history of the town, culture and the Mansion. A video show is available explaining everything about the place. A small, but rich collection of items are available in the museum inside the Mansion. Video show, museum and tour of entire mansion is part of stay package. Definitely worth staying in Chettinadu Mansion if you are looking for options in and around Karaikudi.

Since I only had a guided tour and due to this I will not comment on anything other than this great heritage CHETTINADU MANSION. The mansion is aligned perfectly to the compass and is facing East. The only reason why it will stand the ravages of time is "There is an unhindered passage and view from entrance in East until exit in west. Due to this feature, it will last one more century too. All types of construction materials used like athangudi tiles, Burma teak doors/pillars etc are world class and a treat for connoisseurs.

We had a great stay at this converted mansion for 2 nights. Food was tasty and the location is perfect. Good value, all things considered.

Finest Place , Great Service from Staffs. Rooms are well Maintained with clean Amenities. Managers are very proactive to help Guests. I Recommend this place for a True Chettinadu Heritage Experience.

Nicely maintained and well mannered staff. No trouble at all and loved the stay.

A fine example of the Chettinad architecture and grandeur of yesteryear’s. Very well maintained and quite a treat to stay in. Gopakumar the manager is very involved and makes that extra difference. If you get a chance do chat with Mr Mouli, the owner, who has a wealth of information to share and quite the inspiration.

The propery, which is a heritage mansion, is located on a quiet, easily accessible lane. The rooms are well maintained and beautifully done up. The food was also excellent - the chettinad non veg thali is a must try. The owners of the property live on the same compound and they are very welcoming, so are the other staff members of the hotel.

Loved the location the might at which the mansions are built deserve a visit once in a life time.. But sadly most of the property is not accessible to the visitors which is disappointing. Poor parking space. Pool is located away from the main property.Rooms are small and are dull with low lighting .How ever visiting the place is must to experience the grandeur of this mansion.

To experience and taste typical Chettinadu lifestyle This is a marvelous traditional Palace with old fashioned rooms with all facilities You will never regret your stay here. There are many good site seeing locations in walking distance. Don't miss the temple and lake If you are traveling around Karaikudi try this place

Stay, food, ambiance everything was good about this place. Those who are looking for countryside vacation, this place will be perfect.

Stayed here for a day with family. i wish we had spent a few more days. i understand besides Chettinad court, Chettinad Mansion and Chettinad packers are also other properties of this group. Food is served at Chettinad mansion which is a common restaurant for these properties. The food served here is very very delicious and prepared in authentic chettinad style. Food is prepared based on prior order. Experienced great hospitality at Chettinad court and at Chettinad mansion. Mr.Gopakumar at the front desk & Mr.Vijay at the restaurant were very helpful. The complete team here is wonderful. Chettinad court has nice and cozy rooms built to provide chettinad feel. Chettinad mansion is pretty old and built on chettinad architecture. Its truly majestic and amazing. All the elements of architecture are well preserved. All the roads in this area mostly run parallel to each other and are properly planned. Great place,looking forward to visit again.

Excellent customer service, the property was also awesome. Built in traditional chettinad style, gives us a rural vibe. Food served was good and homely. The advantage of booking here is that you get to visit the chettinad mansion near by,as the restaurant is in the mansion.

Nice place to stay. The premises is neat and clean. Would be nice if they fix full length mirror in the rooms.
