This is one of the most important temples in South India. It is a very powerful temple. The temple is one of the Pancha Bhuta asthan, for the Fire Element. We visited the Temple last week, though it is showing as Temporary Closed in Google Map. The Gopurams or the towers are truly magnificent with the main tower, Raja Gopuram beingbover 200 feet tall with many floors.

Thiruvannamalai / Arunachalam this is the one of the famous five natural elements (Pancha Bhoota) temple belong to Siva. This Temple belongs to Fire. Shiva manifested himself in the form of fire in this place. This is known as one of the most sacred place in SOUTH INDIA. The entrance of the Arunachalam is not an easy, if the permission of sivan only it will done in the entire life once. After entrance of Arunachalam the spiritual process reached next level. The devotee life cycle calculated as before Arunachala entrance and after Arunachala entrance, in this regard such an unexplained good things happen in the regular spiritual life experience by the devotee. The temple complex covers in 25 acres this is one of the largest temple with tallest temple towers (217 fts) in INDIA. The most important Annual Festival in the temple celebrated during tamil month Karthika Deepam on full moon day. A huge lamp is lit in a cauldron containing more than 3 tons of ghee at the top of Annamalai Hill. Every full moon day thousands of pilgrims worship Sivan by circumambulation the Annamalai hill barefoot, distance of 14.5 KM well known as Girivalam there are eight lingams present on each direction and sub direction. Tiruvannamalai is not only home to various temples but also houses samadhis and ashrams devoted to the major Indian saints. Visit to these ashrams is a great spiritual experience that will leave your senses spellbound. Along with the places of religious and spiritual significance, the captivating beauty of this place will make your trip all the more memorable. The ancient temples, ashrams, beautiful caves, towering hills and scenic landscapes of Tiruvannamalai attract tourists from around the globe. Since age of 13 I am regular to Annamalai temple by GURU Grace and Blessings.

This is called the Annamalaiyar Temple and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. View of Rajagopuram. All gopurams were being repaired and painted so covered. "The Rajagopuram is 217 feet high with 11 storeys, its base measure 135 feet by 98 feet. This tower was built by King Krishna Devaraya of Vijayanagar and completed by Sevappa Nayaka of Thanjavur. Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Agni. One of the panchaboothas that is used as an element to incarnate this earth or universe." Believed to be the largest Shiva temple in the world, the history of Arunachaleswarar Temple dates back to thousands of years. Spread over 10 hectares of land at the base of the Annamalai hills, the temple houses 4 gopurams or gateway towers. The temple provides accommodation at a nominal fare. All days of the week (except special days) 5:00 AM - 12:30 PM 3:30 PM - 9:30 PM

One of the biggest and famous temples in South India in Tamilnadu state. Great architecture and finish. Still after hundreds of years, the temple shines. Place is divine. The presiding god here is Shankar in the form of Lord Arunalachaleshwara. You will get two types of lines, general and special. Special line ticket cost is 20 per person. You do not need to find a counter for buying this ticket, just be in the queue and you will get it on the way to Darshan. I did not find any shoe stall, but there are people sitting and keeping your shoes at a cost. 5/- per pair. Parking is available beside the temple, big space but may be crowded. Inside temple you can buy Laddos. Due to Corona, barricading has been done, but you can get out of the barricaded queue and roam inside the temple little bit. Mask and distancing are followed on paper but not in reality. But that's okay. Om Namah Shivay.

An absolute must visit temple for its magnificent architecture, beauty of sculpture, and sheer size of the entire complex! History buffs, art lovers would thoroughly enjoy the temple. Note: They have a special Rs.50 ticket, as much as this is quick to go to the sanctum sanctorum the passage is like a caged corridor. You may want to think twice before doing this. Not managed well at all by the temple authorities.

This temple is located in the base of Thiruvannamalai hill. Temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. There is also a temple for Lord Parvati in the name of Unnamalai Amman. A ritual which is famous associated with this temple is the Girivalam. On the full moon day devotees worship Arunachaleswara by circumnavigating the Arunachala hill in bare foot. This process will cover around 14kms. History of temple dates back to the time of ancient Tamil Poets Nakkirar, Kapilar and Payanar. Hoysala kings used Thiruvannamalai as their capital. The temple was later ruled by various peoples from Nawabs, British, Tipu and again under British. Temple has four gateway towers. Rajagopuram is the tallest one in the temple and third tallest one in the world. Then there is Thirumanjan gopuram, Pe gopuram and Ammani Amman Gopuram. The architecture of the temple is the main attraction. There is a thousand pillared mandapam inside the temple. Thiruvannamalai temple is also famous for the saints. Ramana Maharshi is the famous among the saints. Through Ramana Maharshi there is huge attraction for this temple among the Western world.Arunacheleswara temple is one among the panchabhootha sthalams. Here Siva is manifested himself in the form of Agni. The crown and feet of this Agni cannot be found out by the Hindu Lord Brahma and Vishnu.

A must visit place for the god worshippers. It's one of the very oldest temples in Tamilnadu. Inside the temple there is a separate place to maintain the cows (kosala). Couple of ponds are available in the temple. It is a very wide area and the maintenance is good. I like it very much. Parking is not a major challenge here, but during festivals and other important days - it will be like a nightmare.

Excellent temple …. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Shaivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, and specifically the element of fire, or Agni.

The place is quiet wonderful. The massive scale of this temple complex is jaw dropping. It can't be explained in words rather need to experience. The area on which it is spread it's huge. The amenities here such as prasadam, washroom were neat and clean and well maintained for devotees. Definitely recommended.

I can surely assure that this place had a amazing environment in inside the temple and you can witness 9 gopura's and they will look amazing to watch and also so many of us carry lot of emotions with full of devotion to pray the god. so we need the environment should be pleasant and neat but out side of the temple people are forgetting that this place is carrying so much of history and also become the landmark of holy place but outside of the temple there is no hygiene and people are ruined it's surroundings apart from this you will definitely feel stunned with infrastructure and devotees

The device place belongs to one of the Panch Bhoot Stalh of Lord Shiva which denotes the elements of Fire and therefore lord shiva here is also know by Agni Lingam. It is located in the base of the Arunanchaleswar Hill which has a great importance in the existence of this place. The temple has four Gateways with each entrance having tall towers know as Gopuram. Inside the premise there are lots of temples which includes Lord Arunanchaleswar, Unnamalai Amman, Ganesh Temple and many more shrines. The place is most visited during the Karthigai Deepam which falls on the Full Moon day between November and December. The most amazing part of the temple is its architecture which has no such type of substitute in the modern day architecture.

Situated in the temple town of thiruvannamalai .....a large number of foreigners have made this town their base to seek “enlightenment”.....this temple is as old as the town itself.....the temple complex is comparable to Madurai meenakshi temple ....the towering gopurams are a sight to behold....the carvings and engravings are a narrative by themselves..... 🐘.......

Very powerful holy place. Being tune Spiritually I felt a very hard connection entering the main temple. One of the oldest temple of Lord Shiva and quite a lot of people visit on daily base. Parking is a bit difficult.

Easily accessible. You will have 2 options to enter into the temple. Free and Rs.50 lines. When we have visited, there is no much rush. We still took Rs. 50 ticket and we completed darshan in 20 min. The temple area is very big and awesome. You will enjoy each and every moment.

Beautiful & majestic temple of lord shiva against the backdrop of the hill! Worth visiting. However crowd management is not up to the mark as people are breaking the queue. Also with rainfall there was gushing water mixed with sewage water through the temple. Temple administrators should look into this & try to maintain cleanliness .

The Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple is a beautiful and sacred place. The temple grounds are well-maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside is the queue system, which can be very long and chaotic. I visited the temple during the off-season and still had to wait in line for over an hour to get to the main shrine. The queue is not well-organized and people were constantly cutting in line. It was also very hot and humid, which made the wait even more unbearable. Once I finally got inside the temple, it was a much more pleasant experience. The main shrine is very impressive and the atmosphere is very peaceful. I also enjoyed visiting the other temples and shrines on the grounds. Overall, I would recommend visiting the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple, but be prepared for a long wait in line. If you are visiting during the peak season, I would suggest booking a VIP darshan in advance to avoid the queues. Tips for visiting: * Wear comfortable clothing, as you will be doing a lot of walking. * Bring a water bottle and sunscreen, especially if you are visiting during the summer months. * Be prepared for a long wait in line, especially if you are visiting during the peak season. * If you are visiting during the peak season, consider booking a VIP darshan in advance to avoid the queues. * Be respectful of the Hindu religion and customs. Additional note: I would like to emphasize that the queue system is the only major downside of this temple. Everything else was excellent, including the beauty of the temple, the friendliness of the staff, and the overall atmosphere. I would still recommend visiting this temple to everyone, but just be prepared for a long wait in line.

Wonderful experience of Girivalam on Chitra Purnima. Lakhs of people visit on Pournami. Very powerful place. Must visit temple and must experience Girivalam at least once in lifetime. ఓం నమఃశివాయ 🙏 People going from Bangalore shouldn't take NH77 road. Its pathetic. There is one alternative route which goes via Tiruppattur which is a state highway. Its very good. Please don't go for darshan on Pournami day, there will be too much of crowd. It may take 6-8 for darshan. Next day morning, there won't be any rush. So plan accordingly. Else you will be disappointed.

The temple has six daily rituals at various times from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., The Karthigai Deepam festival is celebrated during the day of the full moon between November and December, and a huge beacon is lit atop the hill. It can be seen from miles around, and symbolizes the Shiva lingam of fire joining the sky

Very nice place to visit. Place is very powerful place. they have increased the Seeghra darshan rates. It's 50rs now. Worst part is the security or someone will add the other people to the quick darshan queue just infront of the Lord shiva door. So the queue will not move it take lot of time to get our turn. People are not friendly. They will pass the comments sinc we are non locals we don't know the language but we can understand their signs and gesture. Apart from that it's a lovely place as I told.

Famous Arunachaleswarar temple one of the 5 temples . It was crowded mainly because of holiday and festival season. U also have special darshan and there is sufficient parking space around the temple

  • 5/5 Amaresh K. 5 months ago on Google
I visited this temple on some ekadashi. So there was heavy crowd. So I waited for 6 hours to enter temple. I thought I would faint out. And after entering half temple they charged 50 rupees for entrance ticket. I don't know why. I thought it's free darshan. I ate no tiffin or drank single drop of water in the morning before visiting this temple. And rooms , lodges surrounding this temple were all full. They were asking 3 days package which was 15000 rupees. People also do giri pradakshina here around the mountain. So they do it for 3 days. So that's why rooms , lodges say it's 3 days package. So please I suggest people not to visit this temple on ekadashi Karthika pournami or any other Shiva festivals. You will definitely not get room and also get tired if you are old aged person. Otherwise bring water bottle with you. They allowed mobiles inside temple. But no photography allowed inside temple. It was raining when i visited this temple. So I could not take photos of myself more. So it's better to visit this temple in summer season without having any of Shiva festivals. So darshan will be easy. And the fog in the morning on the mountain was awesome. Visit in the early morning. You will get beautiful photos. There will be 4 big gopuras surrounding this gopura where arunachaleshwarar linga is located at the center of 4 gopuras. Jeans , shirts etc all type of clothes are allowed inside temple. No objections for dress. And it's difficult to get lodge or room for single person here. I walked for 1 hour to get a single room for me. Every one was saying 2000 rupees for 1 room. I don't know why. Atlast I got room for 1400 rupees. That too very worst room.
