My first time going here and I'm so excited! You really need to come early to get the train ticket, like seriously. I came at 12.00 so that I can book train ticket at 13.00 but they were sold out! So I can only enjoyed the museum. The next day I came again, early in the morning 7AM, they open at 8 AM and the queue has occurred. Fortunately, I got the ticket

You can see from the old steam trains, the original station, old original ticketing from Demak city and some old station from some other small cities.

Compared to the previous years ago, this place became neat and clean in terms of ticket purchase, the hall, toilet, and the park itself. Almost have not seen the plastic trash in the area which is good because the management cares about it! The parking space is big enough. Provided the washbasins before we enter the place and check the body temperature also check-in for Peduli Lindungi. Unfortunately, I didn't get the train ticket because I was there when the weekend so, I only bought the mini train to go around the museum. Don't forget to buy the local seller goods there either its food and beverages or product like train miniature from wood.

(Translated by Google) The name Willem I which is carried by this station comes from the name of the fort which is located not far from this station complex, namely Fort Willem I which is also known as "Fort Pendhem". It was named Willem I because it was built to appreciate the services of the King of the Netherlands who reigned at that time, namely King Willem I of the Netherlands. In order for the mobilization of the army and logistics of the KNIL to run smoothly, the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij (NIS) was assigned the task of the Colonial Government under Governor General Baron Sloet van de Beele to build a new railroad linking Semarang with this fort. In fact, the construction of this line is a package with the Samarang NIS-Gundih-Solo Balapan-Lempuyangan railway line. So after the success of NIS in building the Samarang – Tangoeng route which was completed on August 10, 1867, in early 1869, in addition to extending its route to Gundih, NIS also built a new route to Bringin and subsequently extended it to Ambarawa. On May 21, 1873, the Samarang – Vorstenlanden and Kedungjati – Ambarawa lines were completed. The second period was the construction of the Secang – Ambarawa railway line. Because the railroad tracks through mountains with steep contours and difficult topography to conquer, so in order to control the train's speed, a gear rail system was created. This route connects the Dutch East Indies military strategic area in Magelang City with Fort Willem I in Ambarawa. This aims to facilitate the mobility of KNIL soldiers in the area. On February 1, 1905, this segment line was completed.

What a great experience enjoying the oldest train technology in the world. Stunning view of Rawa Pening lake, cool ambient, and very pleasant staff. There are 3-4 times a day of train schedule, but I recommend to take morning schedule. After riding the train, you can enjoy the museum and take pictures as much as you want.

This the real hidden gem. Showcases Indonesian railway history, but the best part is you can ride the 100 years old train back and forth (only available Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday). Best to bring kids if you have one. They will love it!

This old train station is have a historic value. Build by colonial to transport troops and nature resources. But now this place become a tourist venue. Many attractive from administrators to guide. What i like from this place are the weather are very cozy and cold, because located on the big hill (sorry i forget on how many meters above the sea level) And also this venue still have original steam train which is still working at this time, completely with the car. Not only 1 steam locomotive but they also have more than 3. This venue has also mini trains which only use for short duration. To reach this venue is very easy. Just put “stasiun ambarawa” into your digital maps, it will heading automatically go in here. Just be careful, because located on the mountain check and double check your vehicle before reach this place. Recorded many accidents happened in this area, because brake not function, driver are sleeping 😴, empty gasoline, fog. Just take care especially when rain season come. And fyi the best time go here is in the morning. Why? Because the road and venue are still empty. Don’t forget to eat local food from this subs-district and also king of fruit (DURIAN)

it's a museum filled with old trains and some trivia about the development of train infrastructure in Indonesia. The main attraction is, I think, an old timey tourist train, the train trip cost about 50IDR. Lots of parking, toilet is clean, the whole place could use more trees, but pretty great nevertheless. I don't think I see a cafeteria, but you can find food peddler around the museum easily. The train trip is usually packed, so you might wanna come early. But even then, you usually will still have to wait for the train trip. The good news is Fort Willem is located just 5 minutes drive a way, if you're looking to do something while waiting. One beef I had with the museum is, since it's doing old timey theme on the building and the train, they should have went all out and had everybody dressed like old dutch train station staff, used old timey money and had old dutch food - such a wasted potential. All in all, quite a good museum, and if you're coming in from semarang, an overnight stay at the Umbul Sidomukti, after your visit to the museum is highly recommended.

A great place to learn. If you want to ride the diesel train, please come earlier in the morning because the ticket sold out really fast especially at the weekend. The vibes was peacefull. We didn't need the tour guide to enjoy the train station. This train station had audio-visual room but seems like nobody came overthere maybe because we needed to walk across the rail.

Really enjoy to have short trip using very old train. While awaiting for the train we can enjoy the museum we can learn about train history in Indonesia. Many old train here. Regular schedule for the trips are weekend (sat & sun) + public holiday. During weekday for only special occasion i.e. Eid Fitr holiday, so better to get information first. Ticket is sold for same day trip.

(Translated by Google) Clean. Well groomed. Comfortable. There is also a Momo Train for going around inside even though the rotating area is not far away, the cheap price is only 10 thousand for children aged 3 years and over. Suggestion : 1. I think it is not enough for children to play such as seesaw, the placement is not quite right in my opinion because of the position in the corner area and in front of the toilet. 2. There are only 2 toilets in the front corner and back corner, far enough to reach it, hopefully you will also provide the toilet in the middle. (Original) Bersih. Terawat. Nyaman.

it's really nice to have an old train and bring memories back then colonial era. hope the govt preserve it so that the children can feel and learn the stories in the past.

A great destination for family to introduce old diesel train to kiddos. Visited here on the weekday so there's no schedule for historic train ride. So we just taking pictures at the museum. The museum relatively clean and staffs were kind as well.

A must see steam locomotives and train station museum. It brings you back in time to early 1900 and you can ride the steam engine with additional cost. The machines are well mantained and the outdoor area is very clean.

Facility, beside the ticket lobby, a bit (very) old could use a little (a lot) of upgrading(toilets, museum in general), could add cafetaria inside for better convenience, could also add gift Shop Selling collectibles, but aside of those , cool collection of old trains, nice vintage train ride tour...

Basically it is a train station modified as a museum. Lots of interesting old locomotive collections. The train station it self is also unique, old station relics of the Dutch era. We can also take an ancient train with a wooden carriage to the nearest station for 60 minutes of travel.
