A decent train museum. The train museum is free to enter. You have to pay if you want to take the train rides and most of the excitement among kids are for the train rides. There are three trains over the weekend. One trolley ride which is random. If there are people they just take them around for a ride for a short route and has three stops. The diesel and electric trains are the other two rides and take same routes and 30 minutes apart. See image with schedule for details. It took us $12 per adult and $8 per kid from 5-12. Under 4 ride free. (May 2022).

This is a great place to take your family! They had actual train conductors and a running train! It was amazing to see all the different kinds of trains and the history of America's railroads. I hate that it's so far but totally worth the drive if you have someone in your family that loves trains.

Great, family fun that is very affordable! $40 got 2 adults and 2 kids a ticket to ride all 3 trains available ALL DAY! It is free entry to walk around and look at everything. The trolley also gave tidbits of information as we drove around. Just delightful! This is a great place to visit for those of all ages.

My husband and I did the run one experience with locomotive 942 and streetcar 3100. We took turns driving the street car around the loop and learning how to operate it safely. Then we drove the diesel locomotive on the larger tracks. Both engineers were very nice and informative making the experience even more fun. Everyone we met there was very friendly! Highly recommend and would definitely do again!

Love this little local spot. Had not been here in about 3yrs but we tool the our boys (5&2) on 10/1/22 and they loved it. Plenty to see, you get left alone to wander or you can ask for a tour. The train is fun, the trolleys are fun. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

We went to the Dino Train event this weekend. My grandson (2 1/2) was a bit afraid of trains. Simply because we were on a walk several weeks back and the Metrolink Train tooted it's horn before crossing the street. Which was the right thing for the train, but totally scared our grandson. So I wanted a fun/safe environment for him to get onto a train. This event worked like a charm. He now loves trains again and totally enjoyed riding on the train and trolley. Thank you so much for a great experience for him! And us!

What a fun place! It's so cool to see how we used to move around and what helped our nation (and specifically our state grow and become what it is today). On weekends you can ride the train (a little fee, but well worth it). Had a wonderful experience. A couple of the trains there my 100 year old grandma road in Los Angeles! Highly recommend and think places like this are very important so come visit and keep them growing!!

We visited here for the first time the other day and had a great experience. My son is a train FANATIC and he was enthralled. The gift shop has a lot of very cool things and is not overpriced! The woman working in there was very nice. She let us know that her docent, Barney was roaming around in a golf cart and we could find him to let us into the train barns. We found him and he made this a really special experience. He took us on an hour and a half long tour in which my 4 year old son was engaged and interested the whole time, and answered all my son’s questions (and boy there were a lot!) and told us facts and history of all the trains. Very cool. The staff helped make this an amazing experience as well as the large collection of trains they have being also amazing!! Our fave railroad museum so far. 🙏

We really enjoyed this outdoor railroad museum on a gorgeous Southern California spring day. Seeing all of the old trains and the history behind many of them was a real treat. Some of them even had movie roles and near celebrity status. The short train ride was informative and gave a nice picture of traveling a short distance by train.

What a great day we had walking around the entire museum. We saw old passenger cars, tram cars, Diesel engines, flatbed cars, cranes, cabooses and the main event was seeing the old steam engine and tender. For my train enthusiast son, this was an amazing day. We traveled from NorCal and would have traveled farther knowing what we would see. Awesome display of trains.

This was a cool place. Def need more than 1.5 hours of you want to explore all the areas and ride the trains. It's a cute place to bring a picnic and relax. You can also do other activities like pay to drive one of the trains, you can also buy a brick that can be engraved and they place it in their walkway (brick or some options avlb and polished some or non polished). They also do a Polar Express theater train ride during Christmas time. I want to come back and see that. You do actually get to go up into the trains in some parts so you can see the inside. I'd have a flashlight though because some of them don't have much light coming inside. I didn't know this was here and it's really not that far away for random things to do in California. (They said Saturdays are the best of you want to ride the diesel train)

Had a fantastic time at the Museum. We visited after scheduling a Run One Experience while on vacation. The Run One Program was beyond what I was expecting. Friendly staff, easy going and knowledgeable. It’s a short track and not much to see, but you get lots of practice configuring the locomotive and using all of the switches and controls required. Well worth the cost, it keeps these beautiful machines running! The rest of the museum is interesting, much more so if you are a fan of street cars/trolleys. The only way to see much is with the guided tour, all the buildings are otherwise locked up. I believe this is more available to walk through on the weekends when they have more volunteers to help out. Only disappointment was that I was hoping to see more of the full sized diesel’s and equipment which unfortunately were tucked away. That’s the only reason I took off a star. Sounds like there are many good things happening at the museum in the next few years! Looking forward to coming back when that work is done!

Great place to see old trains lots from SoCal. Ride an old electric train car round trip or can drop you off at different hanger museums.

What a perfect day to have 100+ ackers of railroad wonderment. My wife and daughter enjoyed it even though it was more for Papa. (Love you girls). It was very well narrited by 1 of many well-informed tour guilds. Plenty of parking and trams are available, but in most cases, to see the entirety of the exhibits is necessary due to the large are the museum encompasses. Men will love it and so will the boys. Let's jot forget to is a outdoor venue so dress accordingly.

Had a great day with the family enjoying Thomas the train, trolleys (that my mom literally used to ride with her Grandma. "El Jota") and historical trains. One of which is a huge piece of history for the death industry. Made this mortician VERY happy to see. OH! and the fully functioning steam engine! Burns oil in what looks VERY similar to a cremation retort 😆 I was told they only charge when there's special events but free the other days. I would definitely go back!!

Nice museum with a fantastic selection of streetcars, locomotives, and other rolling stock. You can, for a fee, learn how to drive a streetcar or locomotive and drive it around their property for an hour, either on their loop or short mainline track. Highly recommend taking the $3 tour with a docent, you’ll get a lot more out of your visit. Super quiet on a weekday visit, busier on the weekend and much busier during special events.

Great museum with many unique exhibits and of course the train rides! It's free to enter most of the year except for a few events like A Day Out with Thomas and Polar Express, but the train rides on the trolley and whatever is running on the mainline do require a ticket.

If you are into trains, THIS is the largest collection of trains, cable cars and busses in southern California. Be sure to take the guided tour as it will get you into the vast array of trains with a very knowledgeable guide/enthusiast. Look for seasonal events like the Thomas Train and the Polar Express events. Great for young and old alike!

Went there for a car show. It was really nice to see all yhe custom cars. And some of the trains was also great to see. The city really put a lot of time to put on a good show. I will go back to see the train museum.

Lived in Southern California all my life and just learned about this place. It's a trek from west LA but was a great experience. We went for day out with Thomas which was packed but still not horrible. If you're into trains, especially the old Los Angeles electric railway, check this place out.

Excellent entertainment for families with young children that are able to walk & talk. This was our 1st experience seeing an event for mostly boys & tag-a-long sisters. It was the greatest show of Father's bonding with their sons. A gazillion little boys and none of them were cutting up. My son-in-law and grandson most definitely were happy to escape a house full of sisters, girl cousins, aunts, and Mommy! The delicious carnival food was super fresh and very filling. I couldn't believe they sold some good Ole smoked Texas style BBQ chicken and beef ribs! For dessert, my guys had the biggest king-sized chocolate covered frozen bananas. After the train ride, petting zoo, and walking around to all the museums, I was ready for a nap or an adult stroller, lol. We most definitely had a fun time!
