Nice train ride, need a better narrator and less bass on the speaker system. Understood about 20 percent of what was said. After the shop tour and our own self guided touring and museum tour, a 5th star is in order. I saw Rick's Restoration and episodes with their equipment, that put them on my radar

Great place to visit. You can walk around the grounds, look in the shop, talk to employees and take as many pictures as you want without anyone bothering you. The train excursions are enjoyable and enlighten. There is a lot of history here.

(Visited 26AUG23) I'm a railfan. The train ride was pretty dog-gone boring. The shop tour (included with the ride ticket) was really interesting. There are many historic locomotives housed here. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and his enthusiasm for the museum was evident.

Interesting place to go! They have steam engines and a large railyard museum that you can explore. The train ride is cool but every once in a while they have special events like a pumpkin train where you go pick out a pumpkin at the far end of the ride. If you are a fan of the big bang theory this is the place for the engineer experience gift Leonard gives Sheldon.

We had an absolutely amazing day at the Nevada Northern Railway! It started with a ride on the steam train which was so unique and super relaxing! On the way out to our turn around spot Zack was our guide and pointed out all the interesting things to see and the history of the railroad. The whistle blows a lot, there's the smell of burning coal, it rattles and shakes, it goes pretty slow and it's the best time ever!! Being on the old steam train let's you travel back in time and just imagine what it may have been like! You can ride inside the cars or outside on a flatbed car, taking in the sunshine and cinders!! The complimentary tour of the engine shop and blacksmith shop after the ride was the icing on the cake! Zack was again our tour guide and wow, he knows it all and is very enthusiastic about it! We learned so much about the shops and the history of the trains, it really ignited our love for trains again! The museum is above the gift shop and offers a glimpse into the administrative side of running a train depot. It's a little eerie that it was all left as is when the depot closed it's doors in 1983, all the papers, envelopes, machines and furniture left right where they were when they left. I highly recommend the Nevada Northern Railway as an addition to everyone's bucket list!

Mark and his Merry Band make the place a lot of fun to visit. Every employee I spoke with was eager to answer any question or help in any way. As others have said, complete access to the grounds and plentiful free parking. I'm excited to hear about their expansion plans, and hope to visit again.

Fun place to wander around and learn all about trains. You can walk pretty much all over the railway. We went into all of the buildings. Workers are nice and will talk to you about the trains.

👍👍 Such a great museum with local history of the root beer lady aka the Florence Nightingale of the Boundary Waters. Just fascinating to see how hard she worked in order to stay in the BWCA all year round. Loved the nature walk around the cabins.

👍👍 This is an awesome museum. We originally stopped on our way through Ely, NV just to pass the time and check out the complete skeleton of the Cave Bear that is on display, which we did and it was magnificent. I didn't expect to be leaving this museum 2 1/2 hours later. There is so much to see here. T...
