Fantastic stop! Every room pulls you further into the history! We will make this a must stop, anytime we go through Utah.

So authentic......days gone by never to return again. But the museum represents local efforts to keep Helper alive, vibrant, and close to its roots.....coal mining and the railroad. Helper and the museum are worth a jog off Highway 89 to see a small, historic workers' town where the past is still alive.

When we drove out here, we were expecting a small localized museum. But when we got there, we discovered this museum is much more than that. It had four large floors packed with fascination artifacts, maps, fossils, dioramas, and facts that made the drive 100% worth it. This was by far the most spectacular History museum I have been too, as everything was well maintained and unique. It had so much history about the town, railroads, mining, etc. I highly recommend it.

Highly recommend a tour through this little gem on Mainstreet in Helper. Very impressive collections of local history for both Helper and Carbon County. Extensive railroad history and memorabilia including several model trains; big section and exhibits on mining along with the colorful history of the rough-and-tumble outlaws in the area. Also a nice collection of local art plus exhibits on the many and varied immigrants that contributed to settling and building the Helper community. The Staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable on all things local.

While staying in this great little town I just had to check out the museum and I am so glad I did. It might not look it from the outside but it's 4 floors and massive. There are so many different exhibits and artifacts but a lot of it is about the mines and the old railroads, super interesting.

Cool museum. Lots of old local history. Highly suggested donation of $20/family but not enforced (let the guilt seep in). Looking forward to when the model trains get up and running.

An absolute must! You can spend all day there and not see it all. Be sire you watch the intro movie, see the basement..and an actual room from the many "sporting houses" which lined main street. Entry fee is a donation. We. Gave more when we left. Yes, it is that fantastic.

We loved exploring the history of Helper and the surrounding area. The museum offers far more than we expected. So much history and an honest glimpse into both the good and the bad of history. It is important to see how people authentically made their way in this sometimes harsh world. It is a reminder that our lives are sheltered from the grueling conditions that our ancestors had to endure.

This little town is just charming. The Airbnb thats an old gas station is just to cute. Wish they allowed dogs we would have stayed.

Free museum with 4 floors! Lots to look at. Exhibits include rooms focused on the railroad, mining, life in mining towns, dentist/doctor office, school houses, blacksmith shops, hotels, laundry, general stores etc.

This is a must see! The photos speak for themselves. The guy at the front desk was super nice and accommodating. Our family loved this. This is by far one of thee most spectacular museums we have ever been too.

Interesting museum. A good collection of items. I was hoping for more on railroads and a more curated section on mining.

Three floors of interesting history. It tends to get a bit overwhelming after the 2nd floor, if your a history buff and have time you will like this place!

The best small town museum we've ever visited. Many exhibits in over 40 rooms of what was a hotel 100 years ago.

Wonderful museum; so much history displayed so well. Allow at least an hour to take in everything.

The museum was very educational across many genres, not only did it give history on mining and mining machining but it also showed how mining changed over time. It also represented a history of some of the miners who lost their lives being the backbone of our ever growing economy.

What a neat place. It's not just a museum about Helper, but rather a loving remembrance of small town America and the hard working folks who built the United States. If you're in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

One of my favorite museums that I've visited. It's a free museum with a suggested donation. The museum has a large gift shop with good priced items. The museum itself is 3 floors with a basement so you'll be plenty entertained. They also add to the museum often.

Three stories of amazing history from Carbon County Utah. Memorabilia from coal mines and railroads. A must visit stop.

Amazing museum chuck full of amazing treasures and information! The galleries and displays are set up in a engaging way. There is so much cool stuff to look at and read. You get a great history of the area, the mining industry in the area, the miners and their families, the way of life in Helper over a hundred years ago, etc. 4 floors of awesome. We loved it. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable and great to chat with. This place is absolutely worth a visit.

Don't even bother. I drove for an hour and a half to see this place, and was confronted with a "Mask Required" sign. And that information didn't come up in the search result, so it isn't that I ignored it deliberately. It looked like there was one other vehicle that probably had visitors in the museum, so it's not like keeping a distance would be particularly hard. Whoever is administering this place is clearly some kind of squeeing Fauci acolyte. And I definitely can't trust anyone like that to be able to give me good information, be it historical or contemporary.

One of the nicest, most comprehensive small-town museums I've had the pleasure of being able to visit. If you are so inclined, you could easily spend an hour or two wandering about the exhibits. There is so much to see. A real treat. Then again, if you grew up with a smartphone as opposed to say, a Lego or Meccano set, you may feel the need to run through the entire place in less than 15 minutes. How long you stay is entirely up to you. I'll surely visit again, because I want to see how the model train layout progresses!
