The Ahi poke here is ono. Freshest you can get here Kihei. Their poke bowls are the best, try the #1. For fresh poke this is my go to store, don't settle for anything less. The staff is nice, especially that one cashier.

The poke here came highly recommended. They have great variety! I only perused the liquor store for a few minutes, before I headed for the fish counter, the real reason why I paid a visit to Tamura's. They have 20 poke options on their menu, including tofu poke, so there's something for everyone. Except for this one guy. The person behind the counter asked if he needed any help and he replied 'I don't eat fish.' I guess there's nothing for him. $16.99 Ahi & Hamachi Poke Bowl: Large chunks of tuna dressed in furikake and lemony hamachi tossed with green onions and marinated white onions were tightly packed over warm rice. I really wanted to try Tamura's even though we had just eaten and weren't very hungry. I still did a good job of wolfing it down. I ought to have hamachi more often. It's a nice feeling sitting outside on a bench and eating delicious fish while overlooking the parking lot on a sunny day. Somehow, it felt peaceful.

Shared by a local while we were visiting. Fantastic wine selection but the gem is the poke. We went back twice and tried different styles (you can get as little or as much as you want). Crawfish was also good. A must visit.

Poke in a liquor store? We were extremely skeptical. And upon walking in, still dubious. HOWEVER… the poke is absurdly good. Frankly, I’m not sure if it’s even possible to get better. Who knew!!?? Oh wait! Apparently, everyone.

People laugh when I tell them the best poke I had on the Island was from a liquor store, but it’s true! Thankfully I found out about Tamura’s because for ~$16 you get 2 large scoops of high quality Ahi (can choose up to 2 different flavors) and 2 scoops of rice. It was not only the most affordable, but honestly the best. It’s no nonsense and focuses on good quality tuna instead of giving you less tuna with tons of toppings. You can get Furikake sprinkled on top though. A lot of poke places only have a few flavors, but what I love about Tamura’s is there is such a wide selection of very different types. I got Ninja, Hot Shoyu, Shoyu, and Spicy garlic and all were amazing. The Ninja was my favorite followed by spicy garlic which was a very different flavor than the typical soy sauce based marinade. The Hot Shoyu wasn’t too spicy if you’re worried about it being too spicy.

What a great store! Needed Macadamia Liqueur and real Cream of Coconut to make “real” ChiChis… and this place hooked me up! Oh, and the people who run the place were SUPER NICE! Great spot to get harder to find liquors here in Kihei and really good prices.

On advice from locals, told this is must for ahi poke in Kihei And it definitely did not disappoint. So good and also not overly expensive. Never thought I'd have such delicious ahi tuna from a liquor store 😂 10/10 Highly recommend

It is, in fact, the best poke on the whole island. The deli counter had a variety of poke. Friendly staff, additional fun items like freeze-dried candies and snacks made this a great stop!

We've been to Maui several times. I believe it was our sixth trip when I decided to try Surfing. Our guide told us Tamura's was the island's best Poke. You wouldn't notice it normally since it is a Wine and Spirits store. It is indeed, one of the best Poke spots I've found. The store is well stocked with spirits as well. It is now one of our must stop locations when we visit.

A Poke Paradise in a Liquor store Nestled in the heart of a liquor store, this poke spot is a true gem for seafood enthusiasts. The vibrant colors of fresh tuna, kailua, and multiple other seafood varieties greet you at the deli counter, promising a feast for the senses. Flavor Explosion: Each bite is a symphony of flavors – from the buttery texture of the sashimi-grade fish to the subtle crunch of seaweed salad. The signature Tamura’s Hawaiian poke sauce strikes the perfect balance, adding a hint of sweetness. Finally, the customer service was the best in Hawaii. The cashier held the door for us as we exited with our feast. Truly a genuine Hawaiian experience!

In South Kihei. Stopped by for poke, with a counter of varieties located in the far left end of store surrounding by racks and racks of alcoholic beverages. Great wine selections, even though we came here for poke 😋 - maybe the store encourages patrons to pair poke with their alcoholic selections. Some popular poke runs out fast.

So much inventory! There were so many types of beverages there that it was overwhelming. Lots more than a place we are used to. The gentleman (Brian?) Was a huge help in deciding to try new types outside of what we normally get. Staff was all helpful. Lots of space to park and really happy a local told us to go there.

Best liquor store on the island. Great variety and good prices. We used to shop only at Costco or pack it in our checked bags. No more, we just run to Tamara's in Kihei or Lahaina.

Big chunks of poke but for the price it isnt worth it compared to other places in Maui. It does taste good and fresh but there is only white rice as an option.

Some of the best poke that I had in all of Maui; wife and I tried an assortment of different poke and other seafood salads. There was one poke salad that had these amazing little "sabeans" in them, that one was the wife's favorite. I liked the cured beef that they had, tasted just like pastrami. This is a must stop if you are in the area, if not in the area I would suggest you go there anyway. Good poke and friendly staff, and lots of alcohol to buy.

Amazing poke at a great price! I got the spicy ahi sunrise poke and the salted ahi poke. Also the ocean salad which tasted great. The presentation wasn't great, but what do you expect from poke served at a liquor store. My only complaint is that the rice was a bit overcooked.

Really great place to grab poke, liquor, and snacks. A better alternative to just a liquor store. They offer different types of flavored poke, in addition to some vegetarian options with the tofu and the seaweed salad. I would have loved to be able to create your own bowl with additional toppings and have the vegetarian options as part of a bowl but that’s not the cause, I would be so down to try this again.

The best poke we’ve had on the island. This is a little-known spot (unless you’re a local.) They also sell wine, beer and liquor, but the poke is the star. They do sell out, so you’ve gotta get there early. Delicious and so so fresh!

  • 5/5 Kayla R. 2 years ago on Google
Honestly, I heard from local this place has the freshest catch of fish on the island that they make the poke with. So had to try! It was delectable, highly recommended.

Great poki choices! They are carrying small kind cute treats for all nationalities! Check them out. WINE AND Beer selection is wide and Varied. I was looking for Amy H. GILLIOM WINES and they had them.

Was recommended here by many friends - the fish was super fresh, but I thought their poke was way too salty. A can’t even finish the poke salty. I got the jalapeño and Tamura special. And also the kimchi tako. Rice was rock hard. People working there were lovely though.

Good fish but wish they still did poke bowls!

Tamura's is awesome! Best beer selection on Maui. I like Belgian ales and they have a great variety. Also plenty of wines and the poke is Ono!

We visited 3-4 times during our honeymoon and never bought liqour. The poke was fantastic and about 1/3 the price of what we paid for a meal for 2 at a nice restaurant. We took our poke picnics on the beach. Go earlier for more selection of flavors. Husband was such a fan that he ended up buying their store t-shirt.

Take out bar with fish and other prepared food by the pound. Note that as of February 2022 they no longer do poke bowls but you can buy rice and DIY. Flavorful sauces, very fresh, relatively inexpensive.

Best poke in town. Poke per pound prices are getting very expensive. Last year it was $14.99 and now it sells for $24.99. Hoping it is just seasonal.

Absolutely love the poke bowls here! We went back multiple times to get some as they are so well priced! Ninja and Tamura were our favourites but we always tried the spicy 🌶. Wasn’t too hot at all. But too creamy for us though. #maui #poke #mauipoke
