Before thinking about going to this beach, please first commit to abiding by the rules - stay 20 feet from the sea turtles. That may mean you don't get to decorate your social media with you up close with one of these incredible creatures, but it does mean that your cooperation ensures their health and survival, and the universe doesn't call you out for disrespecting it. Also, please respect the native Hawaiian artifacts. The artifacts aren't for climbing or posing on - they're sacred. Show respect. Rules aside, this is a special place, often uncrowded. No facilities, bring your own snacks, etc. Snorkeling is good here, not the best, but worth exploring. Please be sure to use reef safe sunscreen.

Very nice beach. Short walk from the marina. Shade available. You see a ton of turtles. Directions are wrong though. It takes you to the other side of the marina by a no access road and across the bay. So turn prior to what google tells you to do.

The fish trap is protected so there's no waves. There's a nice sandy beach There is shade also. There are turtles in the water. It's a beautiful spot but ... There's no shower, there's no place to change out of your bathing suit, and the restroom is a portable toilet. We saw a woman walked into the water and squatted down to pee then went back to her shade.

Wanting to see sea turtles during your time in Kona? This beach has a ton of them. Look closely at the water because their shells can look like rocks when submerged. We saw at least 8-10 of them during our short walk here. Very cool place. Be mindful when walking on the mossy rocks as they are very slippery.

I love this little hidden park! It is so special and calm. You walk about five minutes from the harbor parking lot down a volcanic path, and it spits you out on the most picturesque clear blue beach. There is plenty of shade and you can see sea turtles, fish, and sometimes monk seals. It is shallow enough to swim. It gets more crowded on the weekend so I recommend going during the week.

Beautiful place to see turtles. Arrive an hour before high tide, and the probability of seeing turtles will be very high.

My wife and i spent a week in hawaii without seeing sea turtles. We stopped here on the way to the airport and saw probably 20.

This is such a fantastic park in the national parks system. We loved coming here. Learned a lot talking story to the staff. Then hiking a bit along the trails. Such a rich cultural area. It’s very peaceful you can snorkel here as well but it’s not the best. There are Honu in the water but please keep your distance. The scenery is gorgeous and knowing the history just adds to the experience. And it’s free!!!

Neat little beach, high chance encountering small fish and turtles! Easily accessible, just a short walk from the harbour car park.

This place is a great place to bring little kids. You can walk about 100 feet out and never have it go past your waistline

Wonderful views with roaring breakers this day. Water clear and refreshing. Great picnic location. No tents or umbrellas.

Great viewing of sea turtles without snorkel equipment! Sandy is yet rocky in most places. Outhouses on site. Plenty of parking about 5 mins walk away without elevation (uneven path).
