Can't tell you how many times I've been here; I love this restaurant. It's located in the Brew Block across from the Kona Brewing Company. If you time it right, when it opens, the service is excellent and the food comes out quickly. It's a small place, but the quality of food is phenomenal! Have you ever had Kampachi? It's my favorite fish, and they serve sashimi Kampachi. So delicious! Also, try the Chirashi & Matcha Shiratama Zenzai. Tasty stuff. My favorite item on their menu is the garlic Ramen bowl. The flavors are unreal. This restaurant is located right next to HICO coffee, great for date night. There's no ocean view; it's slightly inland.

Big menu, great food and awesome vegan friendly options! AND Fantastic service. We were 2 people and came in on the day of the mask mandate lift, plus there was a huge concert at the venue next door. Nonetheless, we got on the wait list and were called moments after with an available table. The lovely hostess made sure we got a table as quick as possible and was constantly making sure we are good and comfortable. For drinks we ordered hot Sake and a beer (the perfect combo) and cozy ambiance in and out. Truly a 10/10 for me.

This place was our first meal on the Big Island. We ordered tuna tataki, furikake shrimp, spicy tuna roll, and volcano roll. The tuna tataki was out of this world. It was lightly seared with a drizzle of ponzu and crunchy slices of garlic. My partner and I easily could've eaten one order to ourselves. The furikake shrimp had a sweet creamy sauce drizzled on top and was perfectly fried (only 3 pictured cause I dug in before a photo, it comes with 5). The volcano and spicy tuna roll were good as well. Great place for sushi; quick and great service. They have a few 4 top tables and some 2 tops outside. Big parties may have to wait longer depending on how busy they are.

Food and service were excellent! Authentic Japanese izakaya menu. Their fish, either sashimi or sushi or grilled, tasted very good and fresh. Definitely will visit again when I have the chance to come to Big Island next time!

Wow. We just walked in because Kona Browing Co. was closed early on Christmas Eve. But Shiono was the best choice for us. Sushi was awesome and Ramen was so good. Toro..just melted on my tongue. Everything was perfect on Christmas Eve. Thank you.

Vegan sushi set was excellent! Very simple ingredients but they were cooked and seasoned very well. It’s rare to see a vegan nigiri set so thank you so much for having this!! Sake selection was impressive!

The squid karaage, eel bento, and sushi were decent. The beef kushikatsu was crunchy but a bit chewy. The coffee jelly/pudding had great flavor and texture but the mochi balls that came with the green tea ice cream was a bit hard in the middle so they maybe could have been cooked a little longer.

The hostess was sooo sweet. So kind and caring. The chirashi sushi was really good! The fish and seafood was fresh and it tasted great. It had a lot of variety on there. 2 ahis, salmon, octopus, scallop, tamago (egg), masago (the quality of the masago was superb), daikon, and others. Served on top of sushi rice. The rice could be a bit more firm but it was good anyways! Highly recommend this dish. My kids got the salmon avocado, Hawaiian roll( ahi in it) and they loved it. The fish pieces in the roll was very large. Great place for sushi.

Miso was great. Pretty ridiculous sake selection, especially given the location. We had rolls and they were all great. For the islands, pricing was pretty good. Definitely would go back. Small place, but there is some outside seating.

Overall good food. We went for dinner and ordered the Chirashi bowl, unagi bowl, and oyster. They used a Japanese-style bowl to serve the unagi bowl which is nice. It’s a really busy area at night (there’s a brewing company and another popular restaurant nearby), so I’d recommend go there early

Food and service were excellent! Authentic Japanese izakaya menu. Our waitress was extremely attentive to everyone in our family. Definitely will visit again when I have the chance to come to Big Island next time!

The reviews prior to this led us here after a day at Kua Bay. They merit the 5 stars for everything we tried, with fresh ginger, impeccably fresh fish for our nigiri and beautiful hand rolls. As delicious and fresh as places that have higher price points, plus friendly service and lovely seating outside. You can also hear the excellent live music drifting over from Willie’s. We happened to catch Ronnie V and the Family and it was some of the best live music (steel guitar original music and riffs) we heard on the island. Would come here multiple times a week if we lived here!

Stopped by on a whim after long day of flying as it was near a shopping area. Sat down about an hour before they close and they were already pretty busy but food came out quickly and was delicious. A mini ramen size was perfect to go along with a roll. The spicy tan tan ramen and volcano roll were terrific.

We came at 11am on a Friday and there was no wait, got a table right away. Good waitress promptly brought us water and menus. We ordered my favorite salmon skin salad, mini tonkotsu ramen ( which was devoured before a picture could be taken), ahi katsu on skewers, house salad and the matcha zenzai dessert. Everything was delicious. The salmon salad was larger than the house salad and topped higher with veg. I enjoyed it with Caesar dressing on the side. I didn’t want to share the dessert though. I love to chew the mochi balls and the green tea ice cream!
