WARNING: CRUEL & UNPROFESSIONAL - I travel often, and I've never experienced such difficult & unprofessional hosting behaviors as the people running Wailuku Guesthouse 210 South Market Street Wailuku, Hawaii 96793. As you read other reviews for this place, beware of your plans, and know that you will be PUNISHED for changing them. Yes, they will keep ALL of your money, just for making a reservation. You will have to fight very hard to get your money back, even if you play by their rules. Our Maui host got very ill, and because of COVID, we had to cancel altogether. With 82 days notice, Wailuku Guesthouse still caused unnecessary stress (ignoring multiple emails) and kept $200, trying to keep MORE by changing their refund policy in the middle of our months-long transaction. Save yourself a massive headache and don't deal with these folks.

True Aloha spirit, local flavor We have just returned to California, following our wonderful stay at the Wailuku Guesthouse. And yes, the rooms are small, but everything we needed was there. Other than small, I would also use the words "cozy", "warm", "welcoming" and full of the true aloha spirit. In fact, after a few days we even started calling it "home", imagining how it would've been so awesome to find a tiny studio apartment like this when we were starting out in life. We enjoyed it as a bit of nostalgia, and appreciated all the little touches that made it more personal than your typical huge, cold, expensive!, fancy-shmancy corporate hotel room. But to each their own. Ms. Maureen is a gracious host. She made a point to meet us personally and chat awhile, even though she is extremely busy keeping up with maintenance and duties to keep the rooms and grounds sparkling clean. The landscaping and pool are amazingly beautiful. We felt safe and welcome the whole time we were there, and can't wait to return next year. The people in Wailuku town were also very friendly, and businesses open despite pressures of the mask & vax requirements. Maui residents are resilient and care about their community. If you want a taste of the "real Maui", and enjoy local flavor, I would highly recommend Wailuku Guesthouses. To the bitter, negative reviewers, I would say, read the cancellation policies as I did, BEFORE you reply "I agree." There is nothing hidden in fine print, it is all there. It's very understandable how they have only a few rooms and are a small operation, so it makes sense to have a 30 day cancellation policy that hello, you AGREED to, so please don't try to say you were ripped off.

I DO NOT recommend staying in the hotel. You would get fully charged even you had to cancel. And the owner has the worst hospitality servers EVER. She was very nice when we made a reservation, but she sent a message and threatening us when we canceled! Please be aware and don't let this owner to ruining your entire trip.

Okay, you know that super cute bungalow that’s close to beaches and walking distance from town? Yeah.... this is it. It’s clean... like really clean. Is it the grand Wailea? No. But if you are looking for incredible service, great location a clean, quiet room and you don’t want to spend 800 dollars a night, this is the place for you. Maureen is extremely nice. The pool is lovely. Just saying... if you want the real Maui experience and not that sterile, over priced version that you’re co-worker Jeff got for his over priced honeymoon on a marriage that prob won’t last anyway this little bungalow is for you.

If you're looking for affordable accommodations or would rather spend less money on your stay then this is the place! I've been looking around and this place offers one of the best value. The room I got is like a studio but without the kitchenette which is all I need. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. There is free parking but if you have a larger vehicle, it will be tight. This location is great for us, central and quiet. Except you may be woken up by a rooster or chickens across the street haha. - Found this place on Airbnb.

Terrible customer service and dirty rooms. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. And this isn’t a child writing this. My daughters name is olivia. She put her pic up there and named it Olivia’s family. My husband and I were there march 2022

Maureen and Kimberly were beyond awesome! The room was so clean and was incredibly cozy. I felt this location was in good driving distance between all the great activities. Whenever I had questions, Maureen was ready to help. Also, the cool is great! Very well maintained. I highly recommend staying here. I would go back again for sure!

Perfect in a pinch! The room was cozy but well appointed. Very comfortable with a/c! High ceilings made it feel bigger and charming. Pool area is awesome. Staff is friendly. Safe area. Everything we needed.

Great place to stay on Maui. Nice pool and the room was great too. Close to everything and the host was very nice and accommodating. They have snorkeling gear, boogie boards and chairs for the beach. They also have beach towels and ice chest. Absolutely love this place!

The bed takes up most the space in the room. Have to side step to get into the bathroom and to get into the shower. Walking distance to great restaurants. Many good places to eat a short drive away

Nice but small. Pool very nice. Tennis courts next door are noisy as well as the neighboring chickens.

Cozy, out of the touristy area. Lovely pool. Right next to public tennis courts. Two blocks to town.

Perfect jumping off point for a Maui vacation. Room is quite comfortable but we mostly use it as a hub for our daily excursions. This is the perfect place to stay if you plan to "a la carte" your time in Maui.

Lodgings in Maui can be expensive. The room was adequate. The pool great. Enjoyed using the BBQ grill and buying items at Safeway about .5 miles away. Great amenities
