The menu is short, but exceptionally well executed and the menu items come out quick. The server was enthusiastic and appears to loves her job. It also appeared that many of the support staff enjoys their job too! The atmosphere is small and quite, but filled with joyful staff. What really blew me away was the food, it is much higher quality than I would have expected! The portion sizes aren’t large but they do leave you craving their lovely deserts! Perfect place for a quite romantic dinner or special occasion.

The Linguine with clams is outstanding; you can clearly savor the infusion of white wine, making it exceptionally delicious. The seafood trio is equally impressive, particularly the yam which complements the dishes perfectly. The poke, with its impeccable sauce, is another highlight. Our dinner experience here was thoroughly enjoyable.

Probably, well not probably, Easily the best meal we had on vacation!! Stumbled upon while driving around wasting time before our flight home and absolutely glad that we did. Waitress was attentive and polite. Service was spectacular. Food was absolutely delicious and presented well. We are from Wisconsin, used to the "supper club" experience. If that's what you are looking for then look no further. Everything was reasonably priced as well ! Highly recommend to anyone ! Mahalo for a great meal experience !

Absolutely phenomenal. Some of the best food my family has ever had. The special was a seafood cioppino fennel stew that was to die for; I had the catch of the day with Moloka’i sweet potatoes and red pepper veggies (absolutely outstanding, and they accommodated my dairy allergy perfectly). Everything was cooked perfectly and served quickly. Even the pork egg rolls were astonishingly good. Absolutely worth the price and the trip! Will be back again for a special occasion~

This place is too good. I came here tonight for my bday dinner and I think the seafood trio might have been the best meal I’ve ever had. Victoria was our server and she was awesome. Can’t say enough good things, just all around love this place!!!!

This restaurant is one of our new favorite places to dine when on the Big Island. Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill Kona serves a variety of menu items, and for a Hawaiian dinner house, are medium priced. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and like many businesses that have struggled to restaff because of COVID, they also were hit with a staffing shortage and reduced regular hours temporarily. We will definitely go back next time we are there.

Fine dining food in a casual, laid-back atmosphere. We loved Jackie Rey’s so much we went back on our last night of our trip. Both times they delivered solid cocktails, stellar dishes, and friendly service. Standouts for me we’re the Kalua Pork Spring Rolls, Grilled Pork Chop, and the Mochiko Crusted Fresh Catch (butterfish the night we dined). Can’t wait to go back!

A culinary delight! When you walk in and see a casual sports bar vibe, you don't expect the best food on the island, but that's what you get here. Not only are the dishes visually stunning, but they're also cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Went to Jackie Rey’s to celebrate my birthday while on the island and had a nice and enjoyable meal. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale (and very blue) with a large bar and open air windows. Definitely a bit more of an upscale feel. Dinner was tasty all around but probably just ordered the wrong thing. The Alfredo was yummy but could have used more of it so next time I would probably go with the lamb shank. Pork spring rolls were pretty good as an appetizer! Things came out reasonably quickly and plating looked nice. Also looked to have a pretty considerable wine selection if that’s what you’re into. All in all tasty, and definitely one of the nicer meals you can probably have in the area. Just stick to ordering the seafood and you’ll enjoy!

My siblings and I took our parents here for their wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! The waiters were great, friendly, and knew the menu so well. Loved that they provided their suggestions. The food was delicious, and the drinks were boozy. Try the passion flow! Would definitely book a reservation cause it was busy!

Great birthday spot! Made a reservation, showed up early and was seated right away. They learned it was my birthday and sent out champagne. 🤗 our dishes were super tasty and they sent out a slice cake for dessert! Our server was super accommodating & attentive. Excited to go back to try the other dishes!

What a great restaurant! Parking was easy and available. The restaurant was airy with plenty of seating. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food presentation was outstanding. This would be my go to place for freshly prepared food. Prices were reasonable.

Amazing food! I had ono fish with a crust of sesame seeds (chef’s special of the day). A delightful palette of flavors at each bite. From nutty to sweet, and many other in between. A dark chocolate mousse cake with a French press local coffee to top the experience. The place is nice with a local feeling. With an excellent service that makes you feel like a king.

We come to Kona from the main land 1 or 2 times a year but have only been to Jackie's once before, and that was only pupues at the bar. This time , we decided to try dinner. My wife had the triple seafood, and I had the chef special grilled Mahi. The food was out of this world. We got butternoodles with parm. For my granddaughter , she loved all our dishes better; mash potatoes blended with roast red peppers and herbs, crab cakes, and other things I thought a 7 yr old would never love. The service was quick friendly and able to describe all the offerings in detail. The view overlooking the ocean was beautiful. It was not cheap but a wonderful way to spend our last day in Kona.

One of the best restaurants we tried so far in Hawaii. We got there just in time for sunset, they have a panoramic view throughout the restaurant.. We actually were in search for a fine dining experience so when we first got there we were slightly disappointed (it was lovely dont get me wrong, just more casual and humble than we thought) but it’s because the restaurant put everything in their food and it shows!! The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered : - Coconut shrimp (9/10) : comes with 3 shrimp and a curry sauce, this is definitely a must try. - Crab Cake (10/10) : I’ve never liked fish or crab cakes before. But I can eat this for the rest of my life! - Fish of the day (7/10) it was the mahi mahi, it tasted good and healthy, but a little bit too light for our taste, needs more flavours. - Duck breast (10/10) comes with rice and a thick dark asian sauce, super delicious! Must try! - Passion fruit cheesecake (6/10) : it was the lightest option we had for the day. Tasted ok, but it’s “coffee shop” quality. We didn’t finish it. Our least favourite part of our meal. - The cocktails and mocktails were good, I recommend the mai tai. In general, we were really happy we found this place. Definitely would come back again.

Service was slow. and the king crab was strangely served with vegetable oil. The pork spring roll was delightfully packed with meat and the surf and turf was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were delicious. The view of the sunset was beautiful.

Excellent food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. We did not have a reservation, and the staff made us feel welcome, gave us a realistic wait time, and were all very attentive throughout our whole experience. I will go again!

Came here for a nice dinner on our last day of the trip. I wasn’t expecting much besides atmosphere, but it ended up being the best meal we had on this trip. The clam chowder was nice and creamy, the tortellini was super umami and flavorful, and the sous vide duck was tender and amazing. Would definitely recommend!

One of the best restraunts we have ever been to in our life. The food staff and owner were amazing. This was a very last min stop and it absolutely made our trip. If you can go big and get the surf and turf. You will not be disappointed 😌

The food here is AMAZING! They have the best pork spring rolls. Their Lilikoi cheesecake is to die for! Gelato there is great and if you're into it, try their mocktails, they, like everything else there is amazing. Loved the atmosphere and shout out to our awesome waitress Dasha and to the amazing owners Chad and Diane!!

The best meal we had on the big island was at Jackie Rey’s. The food was delicious, the presentation was even better, so beautiful. I got the seafood trio and my husband got the special of the day which was beer battered ono. We also shared the fudge brownie dessert. Everything was fabulous. (Not pictured: the rosemary bread appetizer, also really great, served warm.)

Overall, this is a good restaurant to come have a nicer meal at during your vacation. I wish they would have been more considerate for our reservation, though. We made a reservation for 6 people at 6:15pm on a Monday night for my mother's 53rd birthday. We called while we were en route to tell them we would arrive 5 minutes late, though when we got there, they had not even set up our table, and they wanted to sit us in the back well away from the window with the ocean view and sunset we hoped for my mother's birthday. They did their best after we asked to be closer, but the whole dinner we were staring at their bar and server station. Rosemary bread was soft and fragrant. Shishito peppers were simple. Crab cakes were light, the sauces individually were distinct and flavorful, though I thought the palate contrast wasn't quite right. The cheesecake was the best dessert. Again, overall it's a good restaurant. I think the quality of the food doesn't quite match the higher prices, but we all enjoyed our dinner and my mom was happy.

DELICIOUS!!! We ate at the bar and had amazing service, the bartenders were both very friendly. Ribs for an appetizer, a must! Shrimp & Chicken Angel Hair and the Pork Chop for the main meal and both were very good. We had a slice of their cheesecake for dessert and it was some of the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend this place!!

Although the service and most of the food were great (I had an edamame bowl and a Passion Flow). I have to say that I made the mistake of ordering the guava glazed ribs, I should've gone for one of the fish plates. The flavor of the ribs was really good, but they were on the tougher side, not the usual sort of melt in your mouth sensation. Other than that, the service was great and the place looked really cool.

Fancy looking food without much flavor. Was excited to try the food after reading other reviews. Arrived for Happy Hour, which was lousy. Ordered some mains. Found everything lacking of flavor and seasoning, however presentation was nice. Service was fine, but the whole experience was average honestly. And it isn’t cheap.

This is always a solid option for dinner and consistently good. The menu could use a refresh and some inspiration from the their classics. While delicious, there is so much the island has to offer to only offer the same plates for the last umpteen years.

We looooved this restaurant. My drink was amazing. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the Butter Fish and the Chefs specialty (Ono Fish) and as appetizer we had the crab cakes. The desserts were to die for. Everything was perfect. The service is great and the place is very nice.

Professional hospitality from the moment I walked in the door, these guys do it right! We were expecting a super casual place, but the vibe is friendly yet very intentional our dishes were incredible and the server knew her menu inside and out, she showed us lots of gluten free options available and the cocktails were killer! 🙌

JR’s has consistently delicious food that’s clearly made with Aloha. I would describe it as upscale. I mean, you don’t have to wear a tie or anything like that, but the price and presentation reflects fine dining for sure. So if you want local fare that’s sure to please the most discerning palate, JR’s is the place to go! Really great food, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff from the hostess to our waitress were very friendly and upbeat.

The food was amazing. I was skeptical on ordering the lamb bc it is either a hit or miss at restaurants, but I am sooo glad I did!! It was amazing!! Breaded lamb chops gave it a nice crust while keeping the meat tender and juicy. Husband had the short ribs and he really enjoyed them. Really tender and fell off the bone easily. Must order the pupu platter bc everything on it is delicious. I would have been satisfied with my meal with just that. The cocktail drinks were refreshing, and we had a bottle of wine that paired nicely with our food. Not sure how we had room for dessert, probably with all the hiking, but the cake was yummy. 100% would go back and recommend to all friends and family.

Watch out for macadamia nuts in your food if you have an allergy! It was in a few of our dishes - delicious but potentially dangerous. I had 3 drinks with lilikoi; they were all delicious. For entrees, I recommend the seafood trio to get a taste of local specials. Everything else looked good too though. I would come back to try more if I’m back on this island again.

We were randomly referred to this restaurant by a woman on the beach, we were killing time before our flight out, and decided that we would give it a try, I'm so happy we did! The food was beautifully presented, the staff were friendly and made good recommendations. We walked in hoping that reservations weren't needed, we were lucky as they had just opened for dinner. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a tasty place to eat.
