This beach was really enjoyable. It's great for boogie boarding but we were just in the water jumping with the waves which is just as fun. the parking lot is decent sized, I'd say at least 20 spots but you can park further away and walk in. We got there around 3 pm when people were leaving and got a good spot. The water was clear and wasn't murky. The waves are pretty strong and pushed me under a couple times, so if you have children just be careful and keep an eye out on them. It's pretty shallow when you walk into the ocean, but be careful because it gets deep when the tide comes in.

This is one of the more touristy beaches on the island. Beautiful sand beach with massive waves that essentially makes this area a wave pool. We went out in the crowd to jump the waves which was fun. There are rocks under the surface near the shoreline to be aware of when jumping. A little bit to the south of the wave pool is the rocky area with a bunch of tide pools. This area is more secluded and worth the visit for the photos.

We enjoyed our time at this beach. Didn’t have to park too far and it had bathrooms and showers to rinse off. It was pretty windy so sand would blow from time to time but it didn’t keep us from enjoying the view and sound of the waves. Saw lots of decent sized fish and turtles, too.

Small sand beach. Pretty but busy on sundays. Bathroom and showers available. Parking available. Free.

Beautiful white sand beach. A decent stretch has no rocks at all. Has public bathroom and showers to rinse off. Lifeguards for morning and afternoon. The day we came waves were pretty mellow, easy for kids to play in

Great beach! The best beach we went too. Sand was really soft. Snorkeling was great and you don’t have to go far out to see good fish. There was also 3 turtles that stayed in the bay right there as well.

This was my husband & my favourite beach while visiting the big island. Free parking. The waves could get bigger which were super fun to dive through. White sand, good for snorkelling. Saw sea turtles twice! Life guards are on duty and also have bathrooms and showers

This is a beautiful beach! The waves are pretty big, and the water on the shore is really sandy since the waves toss up all the sand. The sand on the beach is so soft and nice however. Bathrooms available. Gets pretty crowded past 10:00am (even on a Tuesday. Parking is somewhat limited. Don’t need 4 wheel drive to access this beach.

The waves might be a little much for little kids to go swimming, but beautiful water. Nice breeze. There's no relief from the sun, so make sure to have sunblock with you, tent or umbrella would make this top notch. The beach and swimming area is nice and sandy, so less having to worry about cutting your foot on lava rocks or coral.

Great beach for having fun in the water. It had waves just like a wave pool. Easy to manage (and i can’t swim!) amazing for boogie boarding and body surfing. Nice sandy area to lay and it’s smooth sand where you’ll be swimming. Very clear water. I’d bring a boogie board, but snorkeling here is for the more experienced when the waves are out. :)

This was a nice sandy beach...much larger than some of the other swimming beaches. Surf was nice for boogie boards. A nice way to spend Christmas day.

Crazy beautiful beach!! Stunning colors. It’s the most accessible beach as well in this area with a paved road. Sand is pristine, water is super blue. Good place for a beach day. It’s crowded most times because of road being paved. A very stunning beach!

Our family of five from Texas and Oklahoma visited Oahu and the Big Island for Spring Break! After a day of touring the island and visiting one of the National Park sites we took our grandsons to Manini’owali Beach to play for a little while. The beach has a lot of lava rock and some sand (not a sand beach). The waves were very big coming in so we did not let the boys get in the water much, but they loved playing in a little cove between lava rocks! They met several new friends while there! We were treated with the most spectacular sunset, the Best one of our entire trip!! Absolutely gorgeous!! We did see a couple whale while we were at the beach!! There were working bathrooms at this beach! Would definitely recommend this beach for the views and scenery, not so much as a beach if you have little ones with you!!

Awesome beach! Great for sunbathing, swimming, and exploring the rocky shoreline. Lots of turtles, and nearby goats to see from the beach.

Literally everything you could want in a beach: ppl but not crowded, lots of lovely sand beach, plenty of spaces to set up an umbrella (highly recommended you bring one), beautiful cool water, a tide for boogie boarding but not too strong for children who know how to swim, lifeguard on duty, public showers for post-beach sand removal, washrooms, & remarkably lots of room for parking. 10/10, will visit again.

My favorite beach on the Big Island. Enough space to park and to lay down, good waves, sandy beach. Toilets and showers are available as well.

Waves were strong the day we went! It was super fun! No shade so be sure to bring something to cover yourself with so you don’t get sun burned! Also got to see whales as a bonus! They jumped out of the water and was an amazing surprise!

10/10 this is the dream Beach! Beautiful white sand, light blue water, decent snorkeling on the edges of beach, a little secluded from road, lots of parking. A little exposed to the waves, it's not super protected.

Nice beach with plenty to do for everyone. Great snorkeling available on the far end of the beach, and nice waves for bodyboarding. The sand is soft with very few lava rocks, making it very safe to run along the beach or into the water. There are also lifeguards on site. The reefs are lively with many fish, but they are a little far from shore. If you're lucky, you may also see a turtle. There are washrooms and showers available. Parking is limited along the side of the road heading towards the beach.

Great cove beach. Fine white sand, gentle waves that are easy enough for even small kids. There are some rocky areas on the side you can often see fish. When we went we also saw green turtles feeding. There is a lifeguard, bathrooms, and warm showers. Parking is also available but somewhat limited. However there are lots of parking on the side of the road to get to the park. You might have to walk a little bit depending on how far you park. Beautiful beach and very much worth it. Only thing missing would be a little more trees for shade and a concession stand. So bring an umbrella or pop up tent, and your own food/drinks.

Gorgeous beach! White sand. Busy place parking was full and along road side. Water was warmer than other beaches we had been to and enjoyable. Was able to see turtles swimming around a rocky area—near enough to be seen from shore.

Beautiful! The water is so many shades of blue. BUT you have to get there early! Like most of the beaches on the west side, small parking areas.

This 0lace was amazing. White sands and tons of sea life just off the beach. Great for snorkeling. The life guard 8s a huge plus

I can’t really say anything else about this perfect beach that others haven’t already, but my goodness this beach is an amazing little slice of paradise. It has it all—white sand, unbelievably clear blue waters, and snorkeling opportunities abound. We spent an entire day here 3 times in 10 days, that’s how much we loved it. I hope to return one day soon.

Beautiful. Water was super clear and clean. There was lifeguard during the day. We saw whales during sunset.

Beautiful beach. The walk to the end of the beach can be long over some rocks especially if you are with small kids but it’s worth it. Lots of big waves so kids won’t be swimming without supervision but we relaxed all day and had a great time. Snorkeling wasn’t the best but the sand is so so soft and white.

Very nice beach with good amount of sand beach as well as excellent snorkeling area. There is a life guard stationed here. Bathrooms and cleaning stations are available onsite as well. Plenty of parking. Easy access from the highway and only about 25 minute drive out of Kona. Loved coming here and looking forward to coming back in the future. Also very cool place to see the sunset.

My favourite beach on this stretch of coast. Relaxed, good mix of visitors, sometimes a bit crowded. Good for swimming and some snorkeling when surf is low. When surf is up, it can be more rough, but also fun. Supervised beach til late afternoon, great beach showers.

👍 This beach has some convenient points for the best goers. Firstly, it is short and easy to access the beach from the parking lot. The paved road will provide you with the convenience of carrying your stuff to the beach. Secondly, the shower facility is located between the beach and the parking lot....

👍👍 This is a beautiful spot by the Four Seasons hotel. Quick note... Every beach in Hawaii is public. Expensive resorts add gates and other restrictions to deter people. But these beaches are usually beautiful views, well maintained, and quiet. While at Kukio we saw maybe 6 other people... Most of whom...
