extremely disappointing. $14 for four slices of a quesadilla. not cooked (or even toasted) tortilla, mostly unmelted cheese, barely any BBQ sauce, barely any kalua pork, very bland. best part was the BBQ sauce but it was only on the outer edge of the quesadilla. some pieces weren't even held together. super quick! But it seems like they just threw it in the microwave for 10 seconds because it wasn't even hot (barely warm) when I got it.. don't waste your time and money when you could make a better one at home for less

At first the food was great. My favorite was the Pupukea Bomber. Its what I would get every time. The potatoes were soft, eggs fluffy, the seasoning had the perfect kick, the seasonings somewhat made a nice red saucy burrito. There were a variety of veggies mixed into it with just the right amount of cheese. I go there a lot then the food began to be INCONSISTENT. It’s a hit or miss if you get it the same. Most of the time it tastes like it’s been rushed. And it probably was. It gets really busy and takes 30-40 minutes. Now, the potatoes aren’t cooked. Nobody eats raw potatoes unless you’re a psychopath. There’s no seasoning anymore it’s like they just shoved everything in there without any seasonings and thought yeah this is fine. I could barely finish it and wasted money. It was so bland and so much cheese it overpowered the burrito itself. I’m really sad it’s changed because I really loved their Pupukea. Will I eat there again? Definitely. It’s like like Russian roulette 1 our is 6 it might taste good. I’ll take my chances. Why did I rate it that way? Don’t ask me

Prices have gone up a decent amount, understandable, but just more than I had expected I take it. But overall it’s still quite good food, especially the bombers. They do still have a kamaʻāina discount, which is always appreciated. Fast service too which is nice. This location has a couple of benches at part of the strip mall on the outside too.

That 12 hour slow roasted pig is so juicy and flavorful. Great stop by for brunch or after any hike or beach trip! No dine in services offered at the moment and no outdoor seating.

Just up the road from the brewery. Decent sized menu and all day breakfast, you can’t beat it. Had a couple of sandwiches which come with chips. Both were very good. Grabbed shakes to go of which they had probably 20 different flavors and both were awesome!

I love this restaurant. The Kalua Pork is great. When I came here I had the Triple Crown Sandwich. It was very good.

I snagged the Haleiwa Bomber wanting a little bite to hold my partner and I over after a long hike. Thinking this place is known for their slow roasted pork, I wanted nothing else to really get in the way of that. This bomber was beyond expectations. I thought maybe it would be lacking seasoning with the potatoes and egg like you might find with typical burritos. However, I was very wrong. These 2 paired so well with that award winning pork that I didn't really want to share anymore. It came with a salsa but I didn't even bother with it (a rare occasion for me). Katsu (hope I'm spelling it right) helped me out and was friendly. He didn't just engage in surface small talk but actually had a good chat with about everyone I saw him help. Thanks so much y'all! I'll be back very soon.

My favorite are the nachos... The guava BBQ sauce makes it. The pig is so good every time.

Nice basic cheap eats/fast casual restaurant. Menu mostly revolves around slow cooked pulled pork in sandwiches, plate lunches/dinners, or wraps. They also offer a variety of milk shakes. Service was friendly and helpful.

First time to try Kono's after living here for 2 years. Don't bother with the pork taco. They should just take it off the menu. Store bought hard shelled taco stuffed with pork (the reason for the 2 stars) with a few pieces of shredded cheese and maybe 15 chopped tomatoes for over $10! Maybe the other items are better but I'm not going back. Plus, the person up front seemed like I was bothering her when I ordered. Sad. I was hoping for more.

Tough decision between a three-star and four-star rating. We got takeout here during quarantine, so I'm willing to re-visit this review when we are actually able to eat there in person. But I will say that it was a solid culinary experience (especially for them being open on Easter Sunday during quarantine) but I wouldn't rate it four-stars right now. I ordered a breakfast burrito. While the meat was pretty tasty, the shell on the burrito itself was rather hard in the middle. But they did have some really good salsa (not the store bought stuff) and the sauce made the burrito better. My wife got biscuits and gravy, and while she wasn't underwhelmed with them, she certainly wasn't raving about them either. All of this to say this was just an average culinary experience. I certainly wouldn't recommend it right now to tourists who have a limited time here when there are so many other options to choose from around Kailua. But Kono's was just good enough to where my wife and I will give it another shot when we can actually dine-in and perhaps it'll be a better experience then.

Great find!! Walking past and menu was too good not to try. Pulled pork super flavorful and moisture. We all picked something different and each was delicious. Milkshake was thick and rich. Smoothie was too die for!! Definitely great value, we will be back!

The pull pork was yummy. They gave me some hot sauce sample to taste before I purchased the bottles. Seats are limited.

Kono was an amazing addition to our beach day! Fast and delicious, the pork platter was healthy, hearty and absolutely delectable. The salad dressing was possibly the best salad dressing I have ever tried in my life. Papaya seed dressing? If I could get this in Canada perhaps I’d eat more greens. 5/5

We had some phenomenal pork sandwiches at this restaurant, which is in a great location and had a very friendly waitress who was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be returning to this restaurant, the size of the portions were a great value for the price you pay and the flavors are fantastic.

  • 5/5 Allison B. 2 years ago on Google
Very delicious!! You can order take out at the door. The pig on grass salad is super good, the papaya seed dressing and BBQ sauce are great additions to the pork. Would definitely recommend and will be going back. Need to try the shakes next time.

  • 5/5 Trang N. 2 years ago on Google
Parking on the street. Take out only. We enjoyed the Pig on grass order. The pork was really yummy and flavorful. Wished we would ask for more BBQ sauce. The sauce made the pork tasted better. The milkshake mud pie was thick and yummy.

We got the pork plate, lava flow milkshake and tacos - they were all amazing. There was no dine-in when we visited but you could sit on the benches outside. The service was good. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

No bacon on my Chun Bomber. 🤷🏻‍♂️ If there was I didn't see it or taste it. It was okay, was expecting more from all the reviews on YouTube.

Absolutely delicious! The bread, the slaw, the meat and the chips on the side. Just a perfect meal! The staff were also so helpful and fun, we had a couple good laughs. It’s great that people get a lifetime discount if the get a tattoo of the logo, cheeky creativity!

If you love pulled pork meals, this is a great spot. Fresh salad with pulled port recommended. Fresh lime/mint drinks and more. Limited eating space inside, some benches on the street outside. Street parking is a bit of a challenge. Consider parking close by and walking over. It's worth here. We ate here multiple times on our recent visit.

  • 3/5 Kailey G. 11 months ago on Google
Came here when we first moved to hawaii and was bummed about the small portion sizes. This is the pulled pork plate which came with maybe 4 ounces of pork and 1/2 cup of rice? For two of these we paid $30 so I just expected more. We took it out and ate as we walked around, ended up stopping for a second dinner because this just didn’t fill us up. Tasty food but definitely not worth paying $30 for…

This location serves super delicious slow cooked pulled pork sandwiches. I also saw the restaurant in Honolulu and I felt I had to stop here on my trip to Lanikai. That was worth it. What I don't understand is why the food is served in disposable packaging even when consumed on site.

First time visit and I will be returning. Staff was friendly, and the sandwich (Old School) was terrific! EDIT: Returned to Kailua on another trip, and was unfortunately not as impressed as the first time around. While the staff was helpful and super friendly, this time around we thought we should be trying some of the breakfast bombers. They were good, but the 45$ bill for 2 wraps/bombers (no coffees) felt a bit outrageous. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying 20$ for a great sandwich or burritos... But unfortunately, this felt like a 4-star breakfast at a 5-star price point. I wouldn't mind some smaller/cheaper breakfast alternatives. Despite all this, I would return, and if you're looking for a breakfast wrap that could probably feed you for most of the day, this is worth a shot!

Kono’s can feed anyone in my family from the bomber to the plate to tacos. I started eating here on the N Shore 20 years ago and so happy they opened in Kailua.

This is a great place if you’re looking for a delicious and easy lunch in Kailua. Great quality pork and other local dishes! I had the BBQ pork bomber and it was delicious!! It’s a small place with limited seating so you might miss out on a table if you go at busy times but they also do takeaway!

  • 5/5 Julia G. 3 months ago on Google New
The pork bomber was the perfect burrito-esque tasty lunch to bring to the beach. Takes a bit of time as its a popular spot. Counter service order first. Dedicated following as you get 25% of for life if you get a pig surfing tattoo!

Amazing location if you want to eat like a local! If you're staying by the hotels in wakiki , I recommend taking a trip out to Kailua and visit this spot for a quick coffee and burrito. Great food for on the road. I had the Queen's burrito which was their chorizo and eggs , it was amazing! Full of flavor and a little spicy in the best way possible. I'm usually a hungry person and I was starving before having the burrito and felt perfectly satisfied. My friend had the popukea w/ avocado, it was stuffed with egg and very simple but tasty! The atmosphere is very chill and has the surfer vibe with great music playing on the background. The music is low enough to enjoy and still have a conversation! I had the coffee which was hazelnut roast and the fresh guava juice. *This was the absolute best unexpected thing about kono! I'd you're here I highly recommend trying their guava juice it was one of the best I've had!

I stopped by for breakfast and the whole menu was available. I landed on getting the bbq tacos. They were pretty tasty and definitely worth it. It was a nice light snack. I enjoyed it. I wasn’t too fond of their soda fountain though. Bring some water with you just in case.

Best breakfast burrito on island by far. Make sure you show up hungry because it’s a full blown meal.

Great attitudes made for helpful and attentive staff. Fantastic recommendations. Generous portions. Delicious bombers. The guava limeade was refreshing! Perfect spot for any meal. Love it, but not enough to get the pig surfing tattoo, even for 25% off.

Best lunch in our 5 days on the island! Their pork is delicious, I liked it best in the sandwiches and bombers.

  • 3/5 Michelle M. 3 years ago on Google
I had the kahlua pig nachos, which were delicious, but as is usual in Hawaii, prices were steep. $4.75 for a medium sized lemonade for example. For two people getting only regular main course items along with two drinks or was over $40. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal but they don't allow dine-in during COVID so it's take out only, and that makes it feel like less of a deal. A lovely area though, and staff was pleasant.

Pulled pork was good, but thats it, turkey sandwich was same as I could get at 7-11 in the chillbox, and over priced. They must have been out of potato chips, we literally had like 12 chips in our bags. WO'T BE BACK!!!!!!

  • 1/5 Kyle R. 3 years ago on Google
Usually very good. My sandwich had one thin slice of turkey Meat on the bottom with a little cheese and two bacon strips, 90% of it was bread.

Eat here. Every day. I just visited a friend in Kailua and I had Kono's every morning. I wouldn't say I'm a breakfast burrito expert but I do eat them. A lot. And these Bomber's are BOMB. Ask Brenan for his off menu recommendation, the Big Wave. He also has great suggestions for local hikes and must-sees. We called Brenan every morning and he had our bombers ready to go to fuel our adventures. Thank You, Kono's!
