a very cozy cafe with great and fresh food. We were greeted very friendly by an older lady (I think boss). The burgers and sandwiches we ate were very fresh and well made. Anyone who vacations in Hawaii has to come here to eat. Greetings to the lady from the Austrians.

Chef Alex - Everything that comes out of his kitchen is completely amazing. Fresh. Consistent. Creative. We ate at Kalapawai Kailua 4 times in one week. The service is amazing, everyone is super friendly and helpful. Side note- I lived in Kailua years ago and LOVE seeing a small locally owned business expand, grow, and thrive.

The Kailua Club is yummy. Soft fresh bread. Simple and comfortable little place. The baked goods look amazing but we didn't try them.

Love all the Kalawapai locations. Food and drinks are great as ever. Staff is so friendly and accommodating with kids. Parking lot was full, so a little hard to find a parking spot but worth the walk from down the block.

Kalapawai is a great go-to for all three meals; however, their dinners knock it out of the park every time! My favorite is the daily fish served over lemongrass risotto. My other half loved the short ribs. The cocktails and wine selection is great, too!

I kept seeing friends post about this place and have been wanting to try it for years 😬 the hubs and I finally were able to have a day date and check it out!!! It Did Not Disappoint!!! So Good!! I had the Italian Sub and it tasted so Fresh!! My husband had the Da ‘Aina burger and finished it in like 2 bites 🤣 He said it was Amazing!! Definitely will not take as long to go back!!

Probably one of my favorite cafes on the island. My favorite aspect of this business is basically the atmosphere. It's extremely comfortable, homey, etc. Have gone here a couple times. Boyfriend has gotten their breakfast sandwich and enjoys it. He often raves about their giant chocolate chip cookies- claiming they are some of, if not, the best he has ever had. I usually just get an almond milk latte, which I enjoy. My friend got soup here before, which they forgot to add the rice to, but was still good. She also got a coconut/lilikoi muffin, which we both found very yummy.

I've only come here for breakfast and brunch. But enjoyed everything I've got. Today I tried to avo toast which was yummy. Though next time I'll probably get something else. I like their sandwiches and vegetarian options. Ambiance is nice. Parking can be tight.

GO HERE! BEST steak I have eaten in a very long time. The service was awesome and very friendly. It was a busy night when we visited and they quickly set up a space for us on the front patio because inside was full. Our server Kai was so great with our kids and very attentive. Everything we ordered was fantastic and it felt more like a fine dining experience than a visit to a Cafe/Deli. If you come for dinner don't skip out on bringing home some muffins for breakfast the next day. They were huge and tasted so good. It was allergy friendly which is always so great to find when traveling.

When our friend Rick visited us from California, he wanted to go to a local cafe for a cup of coffee. We walked to this cafe in the morning (approx. 1 mile from my house). He had a cup of coffee and pastry. I had house coffee and avocado toast. Also features all the local artiest on the wall. We also learned that this cafe and deli was first opened in 1930s. (The one by the Kailua Beach) This place is famous for poke. If you are into fresh poke bowl, be sure to try it.

Is it a coffee shop or is it fine dining? This place doesn't seem to know, but does both well! Came for coffee and stayed for dinner. Coffee was ok, atmosphere was excellent and the staff were friendly (and checked our vax cards, as required). Dinner was very good - we had gnocchi and the side of braised kale & mushrooms. Best food I've had to Oahu, where I've struggled to find flavorful, not insanely overpriced vegetarian food.

Ughhhh so I want to start this off by saying I now live on the mainland all the way in sc. My husband was stationed on the marine corps base there in Kaneohe for 4 years 2010-2014 and this was my favorite place to eat. I loved stopping there for lunch and really enjoyed going there for dinner. I miss this place like everyday and often dream of a time where I can come back to visit the island and eat here again. This place is amazing so if you haven’t eaten here or given it a try please do so. You will not be disappointed. The only time you will be upset with anything to do with this place when you leave or move to the mainland and don’t have the chance to eat here :) this place is just awesome

Pretty decent coffee and bakery. Loved their vegan pineapple carrot muffin and their lilikoi cheesecake. Will visit again to try their sandwiches which looked very yummy!

We love this place mostly for lunch but often breakfast and dinner too. At breakfast the avo toast with a latte hits the spot. French dip carry out for lunch is great for any picnic. All lunch options are delish. If you can get the brown butter choc chip cookie in person, go for it. But, avoid the bags of cookies. They are consistently dry and old tasting. The restaurants are cute inside and the staff is always super friendly.

This is a great, great, great little place. The chicks here were nice the coffee was good and sweet. I'm a bit of a club sandwich connoisseur and it was a fanatastico. Will come back here an get mo.

The staff is super friendly and super patient! When the food came out it was fresh and delicious. I’ve worked in the coffee business for 3+ years and I can easily say this was some of the best and smoothest coffee I’ve had at a cafe. The scenery is beautiful and the food was relatively cheap!! Very vegetarian friendly :)) I couldn’t leave a better review!

Good stop for a sandwich or breakfast. Little over priced for what you get but the atmosphere is good and the food was good. Nice find for us looking for lunch in the pouring rain.

Came here for dinner. The food was great and the workers were all very nice. They have a menu with a good selection of foods, and a really good drink menu. I got a veggie burger, which was really tasty, and the lilikoi cheesecakes, which were delicious. I would be happy to eat here again! :)

Food was sooo good. Took the waitress recommendation of the porkchop and she did not steer me wrong. Mac and cheese, risotto, and brussel sprouts were all great sides. Service was amazing. Highly recommend this location!

What a fantastic find. Absolutely delicious! Its not just a sandwich ie..deli, they have a dining menu that is great. We will definitely be returning to try out more of the tasty morsels.

We had such a nice time here. We were lucky , got to sit right away on Thursday around 1030am. The cashier/waitress made a mistake and only got 1 sandwich instead of 3. So my family had to wait longer for their meal. Everything tasted good, and I loved the atmosphere in and out. Coffee is good too! I wish they keep up with the coffee machine because they ran out while I was there. I would love to come again.

Was a little disappointed they didn't have any smoothies in their drink menu, but the food was decent. Not a lot of choices though. Parking on and off street.

Oh my goodness! Such delicious food!! I had the bruschetta (but on cauliflower crust due to gluten sensitivity). It was so good! Perfectly marinated and gorgeous presentation! They brought it out quite quickly given it was a special request! My friends got the breakfast bagel and the breakfast burrito and both loved their food too!

We are here on vacation and we’re looking for something less for tourists and more for regular people. We found it. This is a great cafe. We had a great experience here. The food is amazing. The service is friendly and the location is warm and charming. The art is beautiful. Tonight’s fish was Ahi. And it was served with Lemon Risoto or with a salad. I chose the Risoto and my husband had the salad. The portions were more than enough. We started with the bacon wrapped figs and they were great !

Paula and the rest of the employees are super nice and the food is awesome. I don’t drink coffee so I can’t comment on that but my wife said it’s always good. The breakfast burrito is really good and the food is fresh.

Cool little spot for breakfast. We had the breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, and breakfast croissant. The breakfast sandwich was the best in my opinion with the biscuit as the highlight. The coffee was solid. Service was outstanding! Gave us excellent tips for the island and a surprise gift for the kids!

Pretty good wrap. The woman at the rhiister helped me figure out what to get based on being a vegetarian who loves avocado and hummus. Will go again. Lots of avocado was put on! Thank you!

Ordered a vegetarian sandwich that was $13. It was nothing special in terms of flavor and extremely small portion for that price - even in light of the area.

Service was non existent, they didn't bring water or even come back after food was delivered. But food was great and came out quick.

There was plenty of parking on the street and in the parking lot. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Empty plate were removed quickly and drinks were refilled as they were emptied. Additionally, local artists have their work on display or for sale all over the indoor walls. The entree menu is not huge, however they offer enough variety of main and side dishes including salads, chicken, beef, pork, fish and beyond beef meals to fit your taste. Indoor seating has been downsized to meet social distance requirements but outdoor seating is also available. Additionally, my own party and one other were the only patrons seated indoors so it was a very relaxed, clean, calm environment. Overall the food, staff and atmosphere were great.

My visit to Kalapawai Cafe & Deli before COVID-19 was so memorable in the dishes they offered as well as the impressive overall ambiance of the eatery. Look forward to being there again soon from Korea.

No longer dog friendly due to "health" concerns... which is odd for a place that has feral chickens roaming the patio. Still a good place, but quality, portions and atmosphere have slipped a bit lately.

Amazing food. The auction fresh fish was delicious, and cooked perfectly. The risotto was not to dry, and not drowning in water, while bursting with flavor. Staff is super friendly and always have good recommendations for food and drink pairings.

Great lunch

I don’t know if it’s the service or food I like more. They have a great mix of foods that anyone can appreciate. The staff is always attentive and friendly. My favorite is their shepherds pie 🥧 which they have year round. The deli during the day is also a great for a quick bite or for sitting down with a coffee.

Awesome coffee and other warm and iced drinks, plus tasty vegan and vegetarian food options. Indoor and outdoor seating. Love it!

Best coffee in Kailua and amazing food

Great food and service! They were polite, professional and attentive. Artichoke crab dip was delicious and the blackened ahi and ny strip were cooked to perfection. Will recommend and be returning soon.

Food is ok, staff is rude. Place likes to act local, it definitely isn't. Better to go to CInnamons anyway, and just down the street.
