Would give it a 4 star if the entree's came with rice. All around solid place. Just be sure to ask for rice if you want it!

Before ordering I read some reviews here and in one of them they said they found bugs in their food. Usually when there are lots of good reviews I don’t pay attention to a bad review... well sadly upon receiving our food we found a rather large insect underneath the eggrolls in the container. The bug had been smashed. This place seriously needs to be fumigated and inspected.

Without question the worst Chinese food ever made; devoid of flavor, made with poor cuts of meat, and in short, an insult to Chinese food and people everywhere. Not even "Hawaii good". Taco Bell across the street has better Chinese food. The positive reviews call into question what the other reviewers have been eating day to day. Sorry folks. Head to Panda Express for quality not known at New Mui Kwai Chop Suey.

I'm a fan. I've been going there on my own since high school and earlier with my brothers and sisters and parents. Food is first rate, they don't give miserly portions. Here's the rub though: There's a design that says we must call in our orders first. No problem there. Lots of Kailua restaurants are joining in that fun. But I've of the two numbers they provide doesn't work. The other - you guessed it - is so busy that if you get through, buy a lottery ticket because it's your lucky hour. I drove there and ordered inside and they don't mind... So, advice: If you can't get through, don't fret. Drive over, order in person, and great on great grinds.

It had been before the COVID-19 restrictions that I last ate here and was rather disappointed with both the experience and food this time. They are now takeout only and very disorganized on how they are handling their ordering and pick up process. In addition, the food quality although was not bad, but just not as good as before. Very disappointing knowing how much better it was before. I won't be back until things return to normal, if ever.

Very rude waitperson (short female), restaurant wasn't even busy. If you can't be pleasant find a different job. Won't ever order from here again.

This place makes awesome Chinese food. Everything we ordered was great. The gau gee were perfect - not too thin or thick, filled to capacty, and not served too hot so you didn't have to wait before enjoying them. The service was outstanding, and the waiting time wasn't long at all.

Very impatient when taking your order. Gave special instructions on how I wanted my order separated. They tell me “yah, yah, yah”. When my order comes, not separated as instructed. Dressing for Chinese Chicken Salad horrible. Way to sweet. I expected the same dressing that the New Mui Kwai Kaneohe makes. Theirs is delicious. Also fly was buzzing around in their glass case that they keep the Pork Hash in on their counter. Guess I gotta stick to driving to Kaneohe New Mui Kwai and eating there.

Mt favorites eating place when I come back from the mainland. Always my first stop. Everything is fresh too. You're now allowed to dine in and it feels normal. You just need to wear your mask going in and coming out. They were quite busy tonight. Three big tables with a lot of people. They still do take out orders too. The foods was good and perfect temperature. Everything was very clean too..

Awesome food best thing is they use NO MSG in there cooking. Fast service, great staff & the Food is Awesome. I eat there at least 1-2 times a month & order out for parties all the time. I've been a valued customer for many years they have seen my children grow & have children & now they see my children have children. All the staff remember great customers that have been coming for years. I have had many family gathering there & great accommodations for the party as well as the public to come, very clean & inviting. I always recommend this restaurant to my family & friends. Great Job New Mui Kwai! LOVE it!

Fast and Friendly Services. Prices are reasonable. Food Portions are huge and delicious. Entire Restaurant has very cold A/C and clean. One of best Chinese Restaurants in Kailua. Always order party pans with them. They also have some Dim Sum items and other Chinese Dessert.

Always great food. Sometimes I feel the portions have gotten smaller. But with the times that they are right now it's understandable.

We had stopped ordering from this place because the food taste had gone down. The new place we started going to happen to be closed so we decided to give it a try and was so pleasantly surprised that each dish we ordered was tasty, hot and freshly made. We will definitely be back.

The food is better than your average Chinese restaurant with good quantity and fresher ingredients. Parking can be challenging at times since the eatery's parking is along the entrance to a flag lot containing several homes. You probably won't find better Chinese food in Kailua.

Firstly when standing waiting for our order there were things running in the ceiling above us. Very loud pitter patter like rodents — should’ve left then without food because it didn’t get better. We ordered a dinner plate with ginger chicken, sweet and sour chicken, plain rice, and cream cheese crab rangoons. The only thing that was worth going back for were the crab rangoons, actually phenomenal. Everything else tasted like week old oil and was slimy and chewy. The sweet and sour sauce had a terrible after taste. Ginger chicken was boiled and gummy. Rice tasted like dirty water. Seems they do appetizers well but nothing else.

This happened twice. I ordered stuff eggplant and both times I got stuff bittermellon. The first we ate it. The second time I decided to go back. When I said I am returning this I ordered STUFF EGGPLANT not stuff bittermellon. Now how can you distinguished the two?... the lady said I ordered bittermellon. So I told her I did not. Then she tells me they are out of the beef for stuff eggplant so I ordered beef sour cabbage. And I had to tell her is there a price difference? If I didn't say anything she wouldn't have given me any money back. She just gave me my food. And what really got me irritated not even a sorry. The lady just took it for granted I said bittermellon. I probably wont order here again. I'm sorry. It was a terrible easter

I got “egg rolls” that weren’t egg rolls- very breaded. I got chicken fried rice and garlic broccoli. It was subpar and I’ll probably throw it away. Wasted $30 and I’m hungry.

I always enjoy this restaurant. Even though this place doesn't have the nicest decorations, the food is very good. One of the dishes I would always have is Cha Siu. I would recommend that.

Takeout: 5 dishes, ready in 5 minutes. Wow! Happy until I found a bug in ong Choi & then realized they forgot to put cake noodles in with minute chicken once we got home. Pork chop tasted very old (but didn’t get sick). Ma po tofu just ok. On Choi (with extra protein) was way over cooked. Not going back.

Have to agree with the other post, just not good. Panda Express is more satisfying. Gravy on chow mein is not what I expect from Chinese food.
