The quality and taste were not great. Overpriced and greasy as. The food tasted nothing like Mexican food. It took them 30 minutes to get our order ready and they weren’t even packed with people and you could see their messy way of working between them. The first and only time I’ll be coming to this “taqueria” 👎🏼

It was a good taco place. Haven't had al pastor in a while and I really enjoyed it. All of the tacos we had were very enjoyable. Must try

This was my first visit and it definitely will not be my last! The restaurant is clean, the employees were friendly, and the food was sooooo good! Definitely a place to check out when you're craving legit tacos!

This place is legit!!! My husband and I live part of the year in México, so our standards for authentic tacos are high, and this did not disappoint!! They fill the tacos with so many goodies and don’t skimp at all on the ingredients. The corn tortillas are so delicious! The meat is tender and moist, but not greasy, and the home made salsas are absolutely delicious. Excellent authentic flavors and very friendly service!! It’s always a good sign when the people working actually speak Spanish. Gracias Taqueria El Gallo Rosa! We will be back for sure! Probably tomorrow, lol. Ten stars if I could! This is the best Mexican food on island for sure.

The food was great, the tortillas I was expecting to be homemade or even fried or grilled for the Birria tacos, but they were standard room temp blue taco shells. The portions are also slim. One street taco, $5, but it was good. The elote was awesome, staff was friendly :)

The vegetarian (poblanos and crema) and vegan (oyster mushrooms and refried beans) tacos are excellent! Spicy Elote is pretty good too. Ask for the habanero hot sauce!

The food was really good but not for the price. Severely overpriced for some tiny tacos. The service was okay. I felt like I had to ask multiple times for the things I needed

A must when visiting Oahu. The food is delicious and full of flavor, the service and atmosphere are great. Nothing greasy or super spicy, in fact it’s a perfect harmony of spices and subtle heat. I am now a twice a week patron.

This place is the BEST. No joke! If you’re looking for an affordable taco spot with meat bursting at the seems, look no further. Compared to all other taco spots, you will not find more bang for your buck. Just as a side note: NEVER visit North Shore Tacos. You’re better off making a snail taco and risk getting rat lung. Taqueria El Gallo Rosa is the place for Hawaii’s ACTUAL best tacos !!! 🙌🏼

Quaint location next to attached same building to the Kailua Foodland. I enjoyed the tasty two orders of "Pastor" and one "Elote". The tequila classic complimented my meal. Kind of pricy for the small size tequila and the "Pastor". Overall I'd return especially for the "Elote".

Finally!!! An affordable restaurant in Kailua that serves delicious & authentic Mexican food! We tried this place recently and had a really great experience. The staff were super friendly and we liked that they greeted us with an "Hola!" We were happy to learn that all menu items were extremely cheap, which is great for foodies that want to try a variety of items. The food came out quick and we loved that there is a self-serve bar with salsa, pico de gallo, & more. Not a huge soda fan, but we did order a Coca-Cola after learning that they offered it in a traditional glass bottle. Nostalgic! Mahalo Taquiera El Gallo Rosa! We're excited to have you in the community & appreciate the fact that you bring your roots with you. Hasta luego :)

WOW. My husband and I came in for the first time since moving to Kailua. What a treat! The vegan and fish tacos are a must try. So delicious and flavorful. They are also a better value than other places in the area! Mmm. We will be coming back for sure. Gracias, Taqueria El Gallo Rosa hasta la próxima visita!

Food was extremely overpriced for the portion sizes. Never thought I'd live through a day where it was about $13 for corn. Just $30 spent for one person's meal. Food was okay, but I wouldn't recommend.

Came by for a quick pit stop, service was fast and we got our food fairly quickly. Got the fish tacos, which were delicious with plenty of flavor. The tortillas were tiny though, and for the price, didn’t really see worth the cost ($5.50ish).

Wow! I’ve been on island for almost a year and I’ve been looking for some authentic Hispanic food. And I think I’ve found it! The food was great! I had a Carne Asada quesadilla and an Elote with Horchata. The homemade salsas that are made compliment the dishes very well. My only critic I have is the price, $5 for one taco?, anywhere else on the mainland this would be crazy. But because it IS good and there is virtually no competition. They can charge what they please and people will pay. (Like me, I will pay again 🤙)

I've had tons of Mexican food in my time and never had tacos that tasted like this-- in a good way-- before. Unique food. Chips and nice and thick and salty. If you like fresh toppings, they douse 'em here with cabbage, radishes, and onion. Good ambiance and friendly folks.

Can’t get enough! The perfect amount of homemade & authentic freshness that you can get here on Windward side. I crave this place all the time and has become a go to spot for street tacos. Great salsas, hot sauces, and a smoked chile oil that I save and bring home as a marinade. Got to try the chicken mole tacos- they are loaded and full of so much flavor 😍

Some of the best tacos in town hands down. Everything was fresh and delicious. They use blue corn tortillas that are my favorite. They also make delicious drinks. Would recommend stopping by for sure!

0 stars, told them no cilantro like 5 times…tacos are loaded in cilantro. It also came with no sauce. When we called she said she put no cilantro and asked if wanted the sauce. Could not understand what she was saying when she was speaking. Why wouldn’t it come with sauce. When I picked up my order she asked if I wanted extra sauce so yes I assumed mine came with the dipping sauce for the Birria.

The food was amazing, but I do believe their attitude needs improvement. Again, the food was amazing. I got a veggie & a fish taco. Both were very flavorful. We also ordered guac and chips for the table, and it was spot on.

Look, I am not saying I am THE "taco aficionado", but I know a thing or two because I've seen a thing or two. These are the BEST tacos on the island (and most likely the whole Pacific). Do yourself a favor and forget going anywhere else for your taco fix. Trust me. And you're welcome in advance. -South Texas Taco Aficionado

Stopped by after the beach yesterday. Tried 5 different types of tacos, all were really good. Thick, crispy tortilla chips and perfect tortillas. Food was ready in just a few minutes. We will be back!!

Ordered tacos: carne asada, mole, carnitas, and pastor. Quesadilla and chilaquiles. All DELISH! They serve corn tortillas made from scratch. Definitively recommend. Only downside is that it is a little pricey.

Pros: Food was fast! & the customer service was excellent. Decently priced for the area with lots of salsa options. Cons: Limited menu & limited seating. The tacos just weren’t good. Ordered the Birria tacos with consomme. The consommé tasted like oil. Very thick, flavorless & greasy on the tounge. I found it unedible. My friend got the mole chicken tacos. They also weren’t very good.

Amazing tacos! First time visiting Oahu and am glad I stumbled upon this restaurant. Great service by the employees, and fantastic looking, and even better tasting, food! All three tacos I ordered were very fresh, temperature hot, and full of flavor. Chicken mole, pastor, and carne asada tacos. Nice touch having multiple, large bottles of hand sanitizer inside. A must-go place for tacos!

Some of the food here is out of this world amazing. When I first found this place I went every day for a week. Some other items are average. I would’ve given it five stars but this place is expensive!

Months later and I still love this place. They're a little busy with their online orders but we weren't in a rush. Their tacos are just like I had in Guadalajara except fancier(the flavors are all their punching you in the mouth lol bfr). The 2 spicy sauces are so good(my favorite is the smokey one), and today they had Blue Corn Tortillas as an option and I thought it was cool. Me fascina(sorry if that's wrong lol)

The food was NOT tasty at all!!!! N not going back to that....I don't know what part of Mexico your cooking style is but it doesn't taste like Baja anything except chalk!!!!

Found this hidden gem on our search for Mexican food. It's a great place to stop for tacos, quesadillas, and aguas frescas. They have a small assortment of alcoholic beverages and Jarritos for you to enjoy as well. Don't forget the fresh in-house made tortillas for the tacos. Only bad review will be the Chicken Mole taco as it did not have what I call a traditional mole flavor. That's where the rest of the menu makes up for.

  • 5/5 BA P. 3 years ago on Google
Ono food, great prices. Everything was made to order in a traditional Mexican street food style. Had a margarita while I was waiting and that was good too. Tables were spaced well and seated according to CDC guidelines. All workers wore masks and other gear. Street corn, Vegan queso, both pork tacos, carne asada taco, chicken mole taco were all delicious. First time frequenting this place, and definitely will be going again soon and recommending to friends.

We had a bit of trouble locating this place. Yelp puts the location in the bowling alley, and it most certainly is not. It is about a block away next to the Food land. The location is a small hole in the wall with limited seating and a small menue. It is counter service, but food came up quickly. We had their Sycncronizata, which is a combination of a quesadilla and a taco, a bit. The format is closer to a sandwich and we were caught off guard by the size. We had seen the regular tacos and assumed this would be similar in size. They were bigger. We could only eat one each. The pastor and veggie were both very good. The only detractor would be the price, which is very high for a single taco at over $3. This place is very good and definitely worth trying if you are in Kailua and looking for a new spot.
