I've been all over the world and this was one of the best beaches I've ever been to! It's like stepping inside a postcard! We saw 6 sea turtles! Family friendly, but definitely need a tent or umbrella. Bathrooms and showers, but no refreshments nearby. Worth the trip- one of the best beaches in the world! 🌴

Kalama Beach Park Was beautiful today. I haven’t been there in years. Walking from the parking lot to the beach I walked with two visitors from Wisconsin and Colorado ladies were leaving the islands to go back today the beach was beautiful the Sand was white I first got there the parking lot was full but I didn’t even have to wait five minutes someone came out from the beach and I was lucky to get the parking such a beautiful day at Kalama Beach Park I collected some drift from the beach to make crafts with look like on the beach there was someone who gathered the driftwood to do a fire

The best beach anywhere, not just Oahu. Tiny parking lot, so the crowds are not big. Great surf. Not as windy as Waimanalo down the road and not nearly as crowded as Kailua Beach Park a mila away.

Nice beach white soft sand though out,and it was a real clean beach, restrooms, showers, and they have garbage cans, there for you to put your trash in when your coming or leaving the park, there are some pretty cool trees that are labeled though out the park. I hope this helps you out and have a great day.

Wonderful beach that extends a long way. There is some more surfing and a little surfing (but not my first choice). The parking here is close to the beach (if you can find a spot). There are bathrooms and a beach shower which I am always grateful for.

Beautiful, easy on feet white sand beach. Waves not too high on day we were there. Sandy bottom with lots of beach space but not a lot of parking. Bathroom facility near at beach entrance. Great ocean views of small tall offshore islands with tall mountain shopping into water.

Great beach, very limited parking in the area. The parking lot is closed at 6 pm. Street parking is available, but it can require a few loops. There is a facility with restrooms, changing, and showers readily available. Trash cans are located at the entrance of the beach as well. Sand is super soft. Water is island blue and what you think of when dreaming of that beautiful beach.

A short walk around the bay from Kailua Beach Park is another enticing stretch of white sandy beach, a little less frequented than its neighbour to the south-east. In fact, one of the things that will strike you about Kalama Beach Park is how quiet it is, with only upscale residences hiding behind a wall of palms, koas and beach cabbage, and bathers dispersed around the shore. There’s a brisk wind most days, and you’re sure to see plenty of kitesurfers and windsurfers in the bay. Looking out at the ocean you can see the Ulupaʻu Crater to the north-east and the twin Mokulua Islands to the south-east. Try to come early in the day to watch the sun come up.

Perfect body surfing waves yesterday! There's always a tradewind coming through making lounging on the beach super comfortable, bring your kindle for quiet reading just a little bit down the shore.

Quiet beach with limited public access. Hope they keep it this way. Very clean. No loud music or crazy parties, just quiet beach front with rolling waves. There are no food facilities anywhere. There is one public restroom if you can find it, near the small parking lot with lots of roaming chickens.

Went for the first time in a couple of years and it is still one of my favorite beaches on Oahu. Very limited parking at the park, most likely have to park on the neighborhood streets. No lifeguard on duty for those that may have concerns. Day we went was gentle waves and clear blue sky. Lots and lots of people talk about the "miles and miles of white sand," and I guess certainly some of the whiteist on Oahu. Very dog friendly regardless of the "no animal" signs. Just be a good human and clean up after your pets regardless of where you take them.

Next to Kailua Beach Park, at the end of Kailua road, turn left to Kalama Beach Park - if turning right, it would lead to Kailua Beach Park which is sometimes crowded. Kalama Beach Park is a hidden gem, overshadowed by Kailua Beach Park. After parking, follow a trail through a house to reach the beach. There is a community house donated to the city by a previous owner. It offers several classes for interested individuals. The beach is white and fine sand. It is very much sparsely visited. Swimmable but no lifeguard.

Beautiful beach but BEWARE that the parking lot gets locked up at 6pm! This is a gorgeous stretch of the beach and has gentle but fun waves. There is a small parking lot with signs stating the park hours but be aware that at closing time the gates are locked and any vehicles still there are effectively closed in.

Great place to go for the sunrise and spend the morning. Parking lot doesn't open till 7am though so you'll have to find parking elsewhere for the sunrise. I moved my car to the lot at 7 just to make sure I was good. Great spot.

The water is a stunning color at this beach. Had a great time. Waves were just big enough for some kid boogie boarding. Showers and restrooms available. Very limited parking but street parking was easy to find.

MY FAVORITE BEACH I FOUND IN OAHU! I really wish we’d found it sooner because we would have been here every day. We sadly found it on our last full day here but what a fun last day it was! The sand is soooo soft, even in the water - especially after experiencing Waikiki (highly overrated and really rocky in my opinion). No water shoes needed and it was actually not as salty as Waikiki either. The waves were jamming and fun, but not overpowering. You can swim and have fun without being slammed by massive waves every 5 seconds. I swam for 2 hours straight and just had a blast. I would have probably stayed in had I not gotten hungry. Only downside is there isn’t a restaurant, store or bar nearby so no food, water, or drinks. Next time we come to Oahu we may try to stay closer to this beach.

Best place to boogie board. Easy access, has an outdoor shower to rinse off, and we even saw some huge sea turtles while boogie boarding. My favorite beach on Oahu!

  • 5/5 Jean W. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful, shady and sunny areas along the beach. Safe, sheltered waters, handicapped access to the water (and to the restrooms), shady picnic area with an abundance of picnic tables, charcoal grills for cooking. More than one parking lot, but parking can be challenging at busy times.

Beautiful beach, park is kind of a misnomer, really just changing stalls/bathrooms and a standard outdoor showerhead, but the scenery is hard to beat. One of my favorite spots on windward side.

Very beautiful beach as you would expect from Kailua. The parking lot is pretty small, so get there early if you want a spot. Waves are small most of the time throughout the year. Beware jellyfish there as they can usually be seen, especially after high wind days. This are does not allow animals or smoking on the beach.

This park is just the right size for a big family or even a small one. The park even bost a dog play park and a section for most sports a family would play. Lots of parking spots and a bathroom if you need to. And a killer view of the peak of a mountain ⛰. Amazing place.

My absolute favorite beach. Parking can be tedious at times, but once you're parked - the walk to the beach is easy. I have also not experienced any vandalism, or theft at this beach park. You should always be aware of your surroundings, but with that being said - this beach park feels safe for the family.
