Americans not welcome. My sister and I were staying in a lovely apartment above the restaurant, so we thought we would venture down to check this restaurant out. There were several tables occupied, and several more that were open. When we asked to see a menu, the waiter reluctantly complied. However, as he handed us the menu, he said, “We’re closed.” even though it was 4 hours before their posted closing time. There was a full staff of waiters just standing around and the restaurant was only 1/3 full, yet they didn’t want Americans. Our host later told us they are very, very snobby even to the locals unless you are a politician, a well-known family, or a celebrity. If an American has ever been welcomed there, I’m sure they have celebrity status or exude excessive wealth. I am certain my accent and the tattoo I have of a lovely turtle on my forearm definitely made me stand out as an American woman and they immediately judged me too inferior to patronize their establishment. They should just put out a sign “No Americans Welcome here.”

Great food, excellent service, classic atmosphere. Meat & fish grilled to perfection every time, quality of high standards. Yet, can be considered overpriced (not just expensive) given the small servings for high prices.

-Top tier dining- We visited this restaurant about a week ago. The experience was in every way sublime. Everything from taste to service and the restaurant vibe was perfect. It’s a very solid choice for dinner and probably the best choice for french cuisine in Athens .Surely will visit again.

Authentic French cuisine in the heart of the best neighborhood in Athens. Exceptional French service done right. No tongs, proper old school style. Classic dishes prepared to perfection using high quality ingredients. Salmon tartare, a variety of carpaccio, steaks, poultry, and more were all winners for a party of five. We enjoyed a diverse Greek and French wine collection along with an expertly made cocktail selection. We brought a child and he was treated well and entertained and loved the food without the establishment dumbing down the experience for the adults. Situated in a shady garden on a quiet street, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan center while still being close to home. Definitely get the crepes!

Old school service, excellent food. The chateaubriand we shared was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service is efficient, and thoughtful - something of a rarity in Athens. Eating outdoors under the trees in the evening is a real pleasure.

In style Maître d’hôtel service in the heart of Kolonaki. One of the best Pepper Steaks I had. Close with a creamy-crunchy Crème brûlée! Good selection of Greek and French wines. Beautiful tree covered terrace and white linen dressed tables. Will be back.

If in Athens try and dine here. The food and service are great. Sat in the garden and loved the atmosphere. One of the best château briand's I've ever had.

At least 10 years now, the Abreuvoir is the french restaurants' benchmark. It is in the same location, typical French atmosphere inside and cozy outside (in a square). The service is superb, so is the food! Excellent quality and taste! One of my favorites which became my daughter's best! (I will add food fotos the next time I visit it.) Try the best chateaubriand, onion soup and creme brulee you 've ever tasted!

Fabulous as always. One of our favorite places to eat for years now. Sublime food, perfect service and such a pleasure to sit outside in the gentle breeze.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Athens. If I have to be sure that everything will be ok and my guests will enjoy a great service and eat great classic French cuisine, l’Abreboir will NEVER let me down, on the contrary, we all leave the premises extremely happy after all our visits. The card contains some of the classics that have been there since the 60s when the restaurant was opened by the previous generation of the current owners. Escargots to die for, foie gras cooked to perfection and the glorious made to taste in front of you tartar or the chateaubriand that are always served with the best French alumettes (fries) in the city. Make sure to preorder the chocolate soufflé. The wine list is endless. The current owners, having major sommelier knowledge have created a wine cellar to die for. Capable of catering for the needs of all wallets pricing the bottles spot in the right value. It would be a crime not to dine in the wonderful garden of this restaurant. Call and book. You will not regret it.

Average food for the price, bad outdated service, there are much better french restaurants in Athens. Crepes Suzettes a disappointment. Escargot was good.

Exceptionally good food, with a French flair. Service was generally very good, though the main waiter, Christos, had an arrogance about him and how he treated customers.

Always a great place to eat and dine. The only reason they don't get 5-Stars is because that is for Michelin star restaurants.🧿

My table was in a tent closed in all four sides plus the roof however the waiters allowed guests in four at least tables to smoke. When I noticed that is a violation of law they replied that they had special license to allow smoking and showed me the small openings between roof and sides (5-6 centimeters wide through which fresh air (in a windy day) could enter in the tent! In addition French fries were of bad quality.

Solid choice if you like French Food , probably the oldest French Restaurant in Athens. Traditional French dishes, great service. We have dined here quite a few times and looking forward to many more great dining experiences in the future.

Maybe the best french restaurant - bistro in town. Always perfectly cooked beef fillet with amazing sauce béarnaise and French fries! Delicious. Even the house red wine is top notch! And the garden makes the whole experience even better. On a week day, lunch is quiet and pleasurable, on an autumn day with perfect air temperature!!! Last, but not least, the staff is exactly how I like them, polite, helpful, always near-by but not intrusive. If I could I would give it 6 stars. polite request: please include a mules dish in the catalogue…

It's such a relief to know that this place keeps It's quality in food and super polite and efficient service so high all these years. Thank you very much for making our family gathering so beautiful and memorable, see you soon💕 favourite dishes: asparagus salad, entrecôte café de Paris, crêpes Suzette, Thema red wine 2019 ( by the way perfectly preserved)🙏 🥰

Nice environment for outside dining. Very polite service. The food is old style French cuisine but it does not live up to price or previous experience. Quality was good but portions were small. The meat was not as tender as it should for 30 euros. Petty

We were serviced by a rude waiter, pretending that he doesn’t speak at all any word of English. The worst part was the wine pouring. He would fill the glass as if it was water (to the top of the glass). Food was average. The only nice thing was the terrasse
