Dharohar in Hindi means heritage. This museum was set up by Kurukshetra University inside the university campus, in its golden jubilee year, to showcase the matchless cultural, architectural and archaeological heritage of Haryana. It truly makes a visitor feel in a typical Haryanvi village through its dioramas and other exhibits that one would literally like to live there for a couple of days. One of its galleries is a big open mud kitchen with containers, plates & glasses made of brass, mud pots to keep curd and water, cylindrical ceramic pots for pickle, cane baskets for chapattis, kerosene lantern and a woman cooking food on traditional chulha with cow-dung cakes as fuel. In other galleries, Haryanvi costumes and jewellery, handicrafts, toys, storage containers made of brass and copper, farming tools, wooden carts, musical instruments, to name a few, are exhibited. One gallery is dedicated to Indian army and showcases the pictures of martyrs. Towards the end of the museum, there is a beautifully constructed village where one can cannot stop posing with dioramas. There is a deep well in the centre where village women fill water and walk by placing pots on their heads. A man playing a wooden musical instrument under a peepal tree is a sight that is rare in today’s modern times. Shops of tailors, barbers, blacksmiths, potters, weavers, bangle sellers, and sacred Hindu ceremonies such has yagya are also exhibited. This beautiful museum gives some inspiration to every visitor to keep their culture alive.

It's a golden heritage center to see the Indian or Haryanvi culture of the 19th Century starting It represents all things and methods of living and doing working at that time . We all know that due to modern culture increase we going towards anew side which has no future because without roots tree not spread and first to grow in future firstly to know about our golden era past. I think our heritage culture is life long in world. The heritage museum give a positive feedback in that field to tell people s about our past .

In saying this, its name is taken in one small word. But if we go inside it, we come to know. What kind of kings used to live in ancient times. In this, the life of the people is shown like how people lived in old times. All the things related to how they used to eat and how they used to move around are visible here. Like bullock cart, horse cart, how did they eat food and what work did they do Along with this, we see that in ancient times, when the kings used to wage war, what currency was used and what did their soldiers get when they won I can't describe it in so few words. If you think that this is a good place to visit for you, then my only suggestion is that you should definitely visit here once and see if it suits you.It will take you back in time so you will be able to see how the King and the Maharaja lived and he and his soldiers. And what did he give them as a reward when he was alive And along with this, we also see signs of the first and second war here so please go Hera and give the feedback ....

It was a great experience being at the museum, Got to know alot about our ancestors and also about how the life was in the ancient times, how they used to cook food and how they used to work All the portrait are actually looking like real people are working and they also let click some pictures of them But I haven't attached all the images as, I feel we should admire the beauty of our culture and ancestors by visiting the museum. And lastly we had a wonderful human being there who made us wear the turban and click photos with it and also suggested us different poses for the photos and as it's in kurukshetra there are lot of other places near the museum to visit.

A wonderful store of culture and heritage as the name itself suggests. You can witness a live view of age old handicrafts and artefacts. They have preserved all the masterpieces here with great care. Kurukshetra is a city with great historical, mythical and cultural background. And this museum holds all this in its original form. Really appreciable job by the state govt. Visit nd enjoy the real Dharohar

Dharohar, a museum nestled in the heart of Haryana, is a treasure trove of the state's vibrant heritage. Stepping into this cultural haven felt like embarking on a personal journey through time, as I was transported back to an era steeped in history, tradition, and architectural marvels. As I wandered through the museum's halls, I couldn't help but be captivated by the meticulously curated exhibits that showcased the unique archaeological, cultural, and architectural legacy of Haryana. Each artifact, each display, seemed to whisper stories of bygone eras, allowing me to connect on a deeply personal level with the rich tapestry of this land. What struck me the most was the attention to detail in preserving and presenting these invaluable pieces of history. From ancient artifacts to architectural marvels, every item seemed to have its own tale to tell. It was as if the museum itself was a custodian of Haryana's cultural soul, ensuring that its legacy would be cherished for generations to come. One exhibit that particularly resonated with me was the section on architectural heritage. The intricate designs, the craftsmanship, and the sheer grandeur of the structures showcased left me in awe. It was a poignant reminder of the skill and dedication of the artisans who contributed to shaping Haryana's architectural identity. Moreover, the museum's layout and presentation allowed for an immersive experience. I could meander through the exhibits at my own pace, taking in the details and allowing the history to wash over me. The ambiance was serene, creating a space for contemplation and reflection. Dharohar isn't just a museum; it's a living testament to the spirit of Haryana. It's a place where history comes alive, where the past meets the present in a seamless dance of time. My visit left me with a profound sense of gratitude for the efforts put into preserving and sharing this cultural heritage. Dharohar is a gem in Haryana's crown, a place that invites visitors on a personal voyage through the annals of history. It's a tribute to the artisans, the architects, and the visionaries who shaped this land. For anyone with a love for heritage and a thirst for knowledge, Dharohar is an absolute must-visit. It's an experience that will leave an indelible mark on your heart and soul.

It was really good experience. You can buy tickets at the door or advance booking if you can. That'd be great because who knows you might get high rush at the Museum. There are many things in there like starting with the historical images of the people who was has contributed in our history, historical coins, swords, clothes, vehicles, homes, person, and then tens of shops from the earlier times. It was truly amazing to see things from which we people have evolved. Most importantly they charged extra money to take pictures inside museum, So keep that in your mind.
