If you like textiles, this is a great place. Seeing the history of block printing, and watching artesans continue the tradition by hand, is a lovely experience. The staff are informative, kind, and generous with their time. You can pay to be able to block print a handkerchief of your own. I recommend seeing the fort, coming here, and stopping off at the step well all in the same day as the trip out to this area can take quite a while

Textile museum inside a restored haveli. Experiencing the architecture is just as interesting as the exhibits. Small gift shop inside as well as a coffee/tea counter just outside.

Formerly called the Chanwar Palkiwalo Ki Haveli, this 16th century haveli was bought and restored by the illustrious John Singh (@maisy_mu 's grandfather), founder of Anokhi in 1989 CE. Located at the Kheri Gate in the ancient town of Amer, the haveli must have been inhabited or built by a senior military leader considering its strategic location, but later abandoned when the capital was shifted to Sawai Jaipur in 1727-28. The haveli is a wonderful example of a restoration project done right, working with expert architects to bring the 500 year old haveli to life! The team worked with local craftsmen using traditional building methods, proving how cost effective it can be! The space now is used as a museum of hand printing and is must visit for architecture and printing enthusiasts

For Indians and foreigners alike, a place to appreciate one of the true art forms of India i.e. Block Printing. You will find the rich heritage spread across a number of states all under one roof. Anokhi has done something remarkable by preserving the art form in its original self, giving employment to the artisans, teaching people like us to applaud Indian craftsmanship in its true spirit. A must visit for a remarkable experience and a dive into the history of block Printing clothing of how it all started, grew to where it is today, with the renowned brand Anokhi.

So hard to get to (luckily we were warned that taxi drivers don't like to take you here...being ready to get out and walk the 6 min from Amber Palace was helpful!) but so worth the effort! Very interesting museum about the art of hand block printing and an explanation of their work to reinvigorate the craft! They have a wood block carver and a block printer who will give live demonstrations. This is even great for kids!

Set in a beautiful building, this museum was a pleasure to visit. It had great items on display plus practical demonstrations of block carving and block printing. I even came away with a small piece of fabric that I helped to print, as a little momento. I would recommend visiting this, Panna Meena ka Kund and Amber Fort in one day.

Anokhi Museum is one of the best places to learn the art of hand-block printing. Less crowded and peaceful where you can learn a lot about the history of hand block tools, and the use of natural dyes and witness the live hand block printing by the artisans. However, I didn't like the way artisans asked for money, even though we had plans to tip them. The ticket charges are 80Rs per person. There is also a cafe outside the museum.

The Anokhi Museum is a true gem in Jaipur, housed within a beautifully restored old haveli that adds to the charm of the experience. The museum not only offers immaculately clean facilities but also provides visitors with the unique opportunity to try their hand at block printing, creating their own personalized scarf or tote bag under expert guidance. The small cafe in the front yard adds to the ambiance, offering a delightful spot to relax and savor delicious refreshments amidst the tranquil surroundings. A must-visit destination that seamlessly combines history, art, and hands-on experiences for an unforgettable journey through the world of hand block printing.

Rs80 Entrance fee is good enough to visit the museum where we can see the history and what is block printing together with the demonstration of making the wood design and printing. We can procure small pieces of the block printing in the shop which is recommended to buy

The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing in Jaipur, India offers a comprehensive exhibition of historical and contemporary textiles and a diverse collection of regional block prints. Set inside a restored 16th century haveli mansion near Jaipur’s Amer Fort. 😉🫣 While Indian block printing is widely believed to have originated in the 14th century, there are examples of antique Rajasthani printed cloths that date back to the 3rd century CE. Traditionally, this craft is done in a village setting in cooperation between the block carvers, chhipas printers, rangrez dyers, and dhobis washers. Beside the museum’s permanent collection and rotating exhibitions, visitors may watch in-house Artisans demonstrate the printing-making process—from carving the blocks to hand-printing patterns. Very well organized museum about local block printing. Inside a beautiful haveli house, the museum has also a little garden where you can have some drinks or snacks, an oasis from all hustle of Amber fort area. Besides all the nice exhibits you can also watch three crafts master on work, really interesting! The museum shop carries some interesting items, I bought a traditional textile board game and a bag to be hand-printed. Must visit if you’re interested in textile.

This museum is fascinating and beautifully designed. After wandering through a bunch of museums in Jaipur, we were thrilled by this little gem. The descriptions are vivid and there is a selection of block printing from all over India. Highly recommend!

This is an interesting museum in a lovely building. I have loved Indian block print fabric since my hippie days and enjoyed seeing the artistry and history behind the prints. It was fun to watch the artisans and help make a square of printed cotton to bring home. Best thing to see in Jaipur in my opinion.

Beautiful heritage building. Amazing museum. When we visited unfortunately the block printer was not available for printing demonstrations. So it's best to call in advance and check. They have a museum store, which has really pretty products. (Bags, notepads, printing blocks, skirts, kurtas, pants, postcards, bookmarks, shawls, scarfs, educational diy kits, gifting boxes, keychains etc) It is a small store with limited products. (Price: higher side, premium products) There is a small canteen area where you'll get tea, lemon soda etc. (Only beverages).

Notably the most underrated place, presented a wonderful opportunity of self discovery and journey to embrace the rich cultural ethos of Rajasthan and our country. Admirable work done by John and Faith Singh to revive lost world through great artistes and craftsman namely Purshottam Chhipa -creator of Anokhi Museam

Lovely museum hence the 5 stars however not a nice start. After paying for our entry, the man behind the desk (he was tall wearing a hat and patterned jacket) refused to give us our change. There was even a big sign next to him saying ‘please do not give individual staff members tips and leave all tips in a box by the door to be distributed’. After us insisting on getting the change as we knew it would go into his pocket instead of being distributed or to the museum, he did give it to us. Such a shame because normally we tip generously, especially for the arts. However, we ended up not leaving one due to the likely hording/corruption from individual staff members. Regardless, it’s a lovely and interesting museum. Just a note for management to have a chat to certain staff members!

If there was somewhere I could give 6 stars to, the Anokhi Museum would get them. I compare it to Marrakech's Jardin Majorelle for its atmosphere, history, cafe, interest in every room, architecture, etc etc. We arrived 1hr before closing which was tight but still managed to see all the rooms. The exhibitions are fascinating. Take all of your pocket money to the gift shop! I wish I had bought more. It will be my no.1 recommendation for anyone going to Jaipur.

The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing was a tribute to Jaipur's rich textile heritage. Exploring the traditional block-printing techniques and witnessing artisans at work was a journey into the city's artistic soul. The museum's commitment to preserving and promoting this dying art form was both inspiring and enlightening

One of the best places in Jaipur to visit and explore city's history and heritage. It is rated as one of best museums in the country. Variety of artifacts are on display, which are awestruck and each carrying its own story. Very good to educate children.

This is a great place to be at. In fact all museums are like that only and this one of them. The highlights over here are wood block printing, costumes designed based on it and ancient tools used for that.
