Often overshadowed by the neighboring Golden Temple, Baba Atal Tower is a worthwhile attraction in Amritsar in its own right. The structure is an architectural marvel, with nine octagonal stories stacked 40 meters high, making it one of the tallest structures in Amritsar. Baba Atal Tower is dedicated to Atal Rai, the son of a Sikh guru. Legend has it that Atal Rai performed the miracle of bringing someone back from the dead, and then gave up his life in penance for the sin of interfering with God's work. The sightseeing opportunities from the top of the tower are some of the best in all of Amritsar. Address: Clock Tower Building, Atta Mandi, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar

I have visited Ganta Ghar Deori - Clock Tower when I have visited the Golden temple. It is my first time to be there. First time, I thought it is a small place but when I have visited there, I found that it was a very big temple. It is very beautiful at night.

You hate being at home, but it's the best experience you can get out of it." - Was the first thing I heard when I asked what it was like to experience the temple as pilgrims do: eating, sleeping and experiencing everything he was there to offer you. Of course there are also those who have told me that the sacrifice is too great just to save a bargain hotel and food, but that depends on your point of view. For those unaware, dormitories surrounding the Golden Temple as well as the cafeteria giant in his entrance, is open and free for anyone willing to experience something truly remarkable. After a very exciting night sleeping with Sikh pilgrims in the holy temple of religion, I made sure to get up at 4 am to take my morning chai, as do the more traditional, and wait for the sunrise behind this marvel. Why does not belong to any religion, I do not usually feel comfortable visiting temples of either, but the generosity and selflessness with which the Sikhs pilgrims surrender to Community tasks are indescribable! Every night, when most pilgrims rests, after the ceremony of the holy book collection, a set of voluntary thoroughly scrub the main part of the temple built with 750 pounds of gold. And for the arduous task of cleaning, they use only a single ingredient: milk. Besides the thrill of seeing the first rays of sun shine there, was proof that these acts as simple generate an extraordinary peace!Despite the chaos of the ancient city of Amritsar, one does not lose its way. And is that the crowds are huge all the time walking to the Golden Temple. Holy men, pilgrims, families and people of other religions through the city to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the sacred temple of the Sikhs. The impressive complex is unrealistic from the same input. Moved by the openness of the Sikhs, who allow access to anyone who wants, no matter their status or religion. Just remove your shoes, cover their heads and shoulders, and legs show. Once inside the complex blinding whiteness. The temple, decorated with 750 kilos of gold, shining in the center of a sacred pool where Sikhs made ablutions. This is surrounded by a large courtyard with marble floors and galleries where people seek refuge from the sun and settles for hours to pray. In the immaculate courtyard Sikh music constantly sounding, music that transports you to a world of peace and serenity. The temple is open 24 hours every day of the year, and those responsible for keeping it clean and prepare food that is distributed free volunteer Sikhs. The variety of people, their colorful, storytelling, sacred chants, peace, cleanliness and beauty of the place makes you want to return to the Golden Temple several times. Go early in the morning, and during the evening is inspiring, relaxing and memorable.

Ghanta Ghar Deorhi : the main entrance to the Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara, popularly known as the Golden Temple in Amritsar. This clock tower gate has a Sikh history museum on its first floor and is located on the northern side of the temple. The Guru Ram Das langar, here at The Golden Temple serves approximately 50,000 to 60,000 devotees every day and this count spikes up to 1,00,000 during festival or special occasions !! It is called the world's largest free kitchen.

Nice place for take out. Only 3 people can seat here. But the food quantity is pretty good. You can taste local food with a modern touch, which makes this place stand out in the neighborhood. Will come back if possible again.

The beautiful😍 white building didn't exist in d original version of temple😱 beside d pool 🐠. In its location was a building, now called the "lost palace".🤔As per history 👉 d officials of British wanted to demolish d building after 2nd Anglo-Sikh war & once they had annexed d Sikh Empire. Sikhs opposed d demolition, but this opposition was😏ignored. In its place, clock tower was added. 🕛Clock tower was designed by John Gordon in a Gothic cathedral style with red bricks.🧐D clock tower construction started in 1862 & was completed in 1874. D tower was ⚒️demolished by d Sikh community about 70 years later🤩. In its place, a new entrance was constructed with a design more harmonious with d Temple. 🏛️This entrance on d north side has a clock, houses a museum on its upper floor, and it continues to be called ghanta ghar deori💕. 1 can walk or site a d passage infront of this entrance😌

Ganta ghar deori such a great place. I had visited here before also but when ever you go its like going to a peaceful place where you are not allowed to bring sadness, strees, pain, tension, anger. You can sleep there in floor at night also. If you are comming here and dont need to spend on hotel just bring a pillow and something in which you can sleep. The place looks osm in night and in early morning. Their is a small fountain in front of it as well. This is a place where no one is hungry. Full of positive energy. I will visit here again and you should also visit here.
