Arulmigu Thiru Vaishnava Nambi Temple is one of 108 Divya Desam in Tamil Nadu. The temple very ancient and considered more than 2000 years old and is located near Valliyur. It was a pleasant 3 hour bike ride from Trivandrum city to reach there. Plenty of parking spaces around the temple and very clean surroundings. This Vishnu temple complex occupies 18 acre area and fenced off with very high granite walls. An ancient Vishnu temple. Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Nambi and his consort Goddess Lakshmi as Thirukurungudivalli. The main deity is seen in three different postures, Nidra Nambi (Standing), Amarntha Nambi (Sitting) and Palli Konda Nambi (sleeping). Lord Siva Sannidhi is located next to the presiding deity. Numerous granite sculptures are located in temple halls and the main entrance. Don’t miss the ferocious sculpture of Narasimha killing Hiranyakashipu. Serene atmosphere, very clean and well maintained premise (thanks to TVS Group) and architectural marvel and astonishing granite sculptures which sums up this beautiful temple. A must visit temple for seeking blessing of Lord Vishnu.

An ancient Vishnu temple. Vishnu is worshipped as Nambi and his consort Lakshmi as Thirukurungudivalli. Vishnu is seen here in three different postures , namely Nindra Nampi(Standing posture), Amarntha Nampi(Seated posture) and Palli Konda Nampi(Sleeping posture). It is believed that gigantic Varaha(a avatar of Vishnu) and Varahi(Lakshmi) took smaller form and stayed here. Hence, this village is named after this incident(Thirukurungudi) Sivan Sannidhi is located next to Sannidhi of presiding deity(Nampi) to portray harmony between Shaivites and Vaishnavas. Numerous sculptures are found in temple halls and entrance tower. Vishnu as Narasimha killing Hiranyakashipu is one among the notable sculptures. Nambaduvan, an ardent Vishnu devotee, don’t enter temple and generally worships presiding deity (Nampi) standing outside of temple entrance. It is believed that Nampi moved flag post slightly left in order for Nambaduvan to get uninterrupted glimpse of him.

A must visit location for art lovers, with divine tinge. The statues here are not only mere stone carvings , but they reflect a lot about our ancestors' knowledge, skill, talent, style, art, fun, humour and even crazyness. Each stone filled with art will impress you and tell it's own story. The bow and arrow carvings are highlights of this place with immaculate perfection. Which is almost impossible to make today with modern implements.

Great temple still following most of the traditional practices. It is a very calm place without any disturbance you can pray and get blessings. Please wait if you are reach there during the rituals, after regular rituals the premises will open to offer prayers. It will take a minimum of 1Hr to walk around the temple.

One of the hidden gems among the Shri Vaishnava temples. Almost never crowded, and extremely well maintained and clean. The archakas are very dedicated and perform all worship with great care and devotion. The stories related to the temple are simply amazing, but let the archakas tell you themselves. A few more shrines connected to the temple are in the same village, and are worthy visiting. Best not to rush and spend a whole day, and even better to stay overnight and go next day to visit mystical temple of Malai Nambi up the hill (3km trekking in pure and picturesque jungle). No picture could convey the feeling of direct experience of the Lord's presence felt in this temple.
