Beautiful shiva temple, very calm and one can feel very positive ane high energy in and around temple. Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, Ernakulam Shiva Temple is one of the ancient Temples in Central Kerala. It is located close to the shores of Vembanad Lake Backwaters. Lord Shiva also known as Ernakulathappan is the presiding deity of this temple. It was built during the Maharaja rule. The deity faces westward and enjoys the beauty of the sea. The annual festival usually falls during January or February and is spread over 8 days. For darshan, Gents are not allowed to wear anything above waist line The uthsavom starts with Kodiyettam on the first day evening. On the seventh day there is Pakalpooram, when the deity is being taken out in procession with caparisoned elephants with Panchavadyam and finally terminating at Durbar Hall Ground after the famous Pandimelam and colorful fire works. On the final day around evening the deity is taken for the Arattu (holy bath) in the nearby temple tank. After that starts the Arattu procession with the accompaniment of Panchavadyam.

Lord siva in his "Roudra" mood. This temple is one of the best in Kerala. The rituals, especially the daily 1001 pot Dhara is a must attend event. During festival time this place do not have space for even a pin. This place is very calm once pooja timings are over. The efforts of Organisers during festivities are commebdable.

Ernakulam Mahadeva Temple is one of the most famous temples of Ernakulam inΒ Kerala. It is a major temple that people have high regards for. It is also called as the Ernakulathappan Temple. This means Lord of Ernakulum. The temple is located within Durbar Hall ground in the port city ofΒ Cochin. The devotees believe that Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the temple, is protector of the city. Here, the statue of Lord Shiva in sanctum sanctorum is worshipped in Gauri Shankar form. Swayambhoo is the name given to the lingam that is in the main sanctum. There is a small shrine of Kirthamoorthy on the north side and a shrine of Lord Ganesha on the south side of the temple. Just behind the main sanctum is placed an idol of Goddess Parvati. As per the religious belief, the blessings of Lord Ayappa and Lord Nagaraja are showered upon the devotees visiting it. Ernakulam Shiva Temple was one of the seven temples of the royal Kochi Maharajas. As per legend, the antiquity of Ernakulam Shiva Temple dates back to times of Pandavas & Kauravas and gets associated with the epic Mahabharata. It finds mention in Sangam literature. In fact, history of the temple has a deep connection with history of the city. Ernakulam Shiva Temple is also believed to be one of the major temples belonging to Chera dynasty. The recorded history of the temple dates back to 16th century when the Dutch conquered Kochi and acquired Fort Kochi. At that time, the Kochi rulers had to move their capital to Ernakulum. They built a beautiful palace that overlooked pond of the temple. They considered and declared Ernakulam Shiva Temple as protector of the city. The temple was built in 1846 AD under active patronage of Diwan Sri Edakkunni Sankara Warrior.

This temple is a prominent one in Kerala, situated at the heart of Ernakulam. Lord Shiva resides in a self-manifested lingam on the west side, while Goddess Parvati is situated at the rear. This place is brimming with divine energy, providing tranquility to the mind. The main festival celebrated at this temple is Maha Shivaratri. The temple tends to be bustling with crowds during all the prayer timings.Highly recommended temple to visit.

That's truly remarkable! It's not uncommon for temples located in bustling city centers to offer a serene and peaceful atmosphere despite their surroundings. These places of worship often serve as sanctuaries, providing a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Ernakulam Shiva Temple, njangal Ernakulamkaarude swantham Ernakulathappan (Lord of Ernakulam). It is one of the main temples in Ernakulam district. It's a very famous temple. The deity here is very powerful. Earlier Ernakulam Shiva Temple belonged to Kochi King (Kochi Raajavu). Now it runs under the administration of Cochin Devaswom Board. Here main deity is Lord Shiva (Shiva Bhagwaan). There are another two temples adjacent to Ernakulam Shiva Temple: A temple of Lord Murugan and a temple of Lord Hanuman. Whoever visits and prays at Ernakulam Shiva Temple should also go to the Lord Murugan's Temple and Lord Hanuman's Temple.

There is no individual ego. There is only one supreme consciousness that writes and reads through different bodies. These bodies have different names, and they mistakenly believe they are separate from the supreme consciousness. Out of ignorance, these individual egos worship stones. Oh Lord Shiva, the supreme consciousness, make this ego disappear.

Typical South Indian type... It has both shiva & murugan temple inside it. The most attractive feature of this temple was elephant 🐘 involvement in worship and cultural programme also (I visited two times, both on maha shivratri). It has a temple where you can't enter it wearing LUNGI, VEST 🎽 & SHIRT πŸ‘š. Basically, men have to take off their upper clothes (can carry) before entering.... But, I am wondering what will they do if a girl wearing a shirtπŸ‘” tries to enter the temple? What will they save? Culture or tradition?

One of the oldest and famous temples in Ernakulam. Good ulsavam of 7 days duration. The temple also has a Kshetra vadya kala center where you can learn to play various instruments. There is a hall for conducting marriages at a low budget. Also an important center for Shabarimala pilgrims.
