Visited the temple during last week of November 2021. Located in the heart of Kalasa town is very easy to locate. The temple is spacious and is a big place with a lot of facilities for pilgrims and tourists. A very famous temple and the town of Kalasa gets its name from Sri Kalaseshwara. A small place is available for parking of four and two wheelers, however it can’t accommodate too many vehicles. Men should remove shirts etc while entering the holy sanctorum. A very well maintained temple and a must visit for those visiting Kalasa and Hornadu.

This is one of the oldest temple honoring Lord Shiva and offering mesmerising views from its hilltop locale. Town is located on the banks of river Bhadra. Sage Agasthya built this temple and installed the Linga. Parking facility available near by the temple. Don’t miss to visit this temple if you are going to moodigere-chickamagalur way. Temple is located near by kalasa main road.

Kalasa Shri Kalaseshwara Swami Temple Also known as β€˜Dakshina Kashi’, Kalaseshwara Temple is located on Kalasa road in Mudhigere Taluk of Chikkamagalur district in Karnataka. A beautiful road crossing the Ghats, the aroma of Chikkamagalur specialties like coffee and cardamom plantations, and the captivating hills and gorges will make your journey to Kalasa a memorable one. .It's one of the oldest Temple in INDIA, it was built 3400years back, This is the place has a Udbav Linga, Kalaseshwara is most powerful god then Kashi Vishvanath. Sad thing is Karnataka Govt never taken care of this temple Govt neglected this temple. Agasty muni did meditation in this place. This is located in Kalasa, from here Horanadu is just 8KM.

Whenever I feel down, whenever I feel happy or whenever I am confused or disturbed, I visit this place. What can I say about this place? This temple is in a small town named Kalasa which is 13 kms away from my home town. I have literally lived here for most part of my life and this temple has a very good place in my heart and mind. The architecture is oldest within the temple which adds to its beauty. If you visit even once and sit for some time in temple premises, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment and content in your life. There are few shops inside as well that sell the delicacies of malenadu. A must visit for everyone who has not been here yet. P.S. I am yet to take my husband visit but will definitely do in near future.

Very peaceful temple. Food is not served. Less people also around this vicinity. You will feel devine. Road to reach this temple from Sringeri is in very bad condition for about 30 kms. Plan well if you are considering this place and horanadu for travelling. Roads pass through kuduremukh range Forest. There is check posts while entering. There is little space for parking.

This is one of the best temples in Karnataka. This is a good temple to visit for its architecture and history. The surrounding estates of tea makes it a beautiful travelling destination. Do visit this place if you are around chikmagalur and hornadu as this is very near. Temple is very old and has old history of its own. Parking for both two and four wheelers vehicles is available.

A visit and a glimpse of Shri Kalasheshwara Swamy here is more than equal to that of Shri Vishwanath at Kashi. Beautiful temple in a beautiful surroundings. The history of this temple originates before 3 millenniums from now. Less crowded in afternoon time.

Review: Sri Kalaseshwara Swami Gudi I recently had the opportunity to visit Sri Kalaseshwara Swami Gudi, and I must say it was a truly enriching and divine experience. The temple, located in a serene and picturesque setting, offers a perfect ambiance for spiritual contemplation and devotion. The architecture of Sri Kalaseshwara Swami Gudi is awe-inspiring. The intricate carvings, magnificent pillars, and beautifully adorned sanctum sanctorum reflect the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the region. As soon as I entered the temple premises, I was captivated by the sense of tranquility and positive energy that enveloped the surroundings. The main deity, Lord Kalaseshwara Swami, is revered as the epitome of divinity and worshipped with great devotion. The priests and temple staff are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to guide visitors and share insights about the temple's history and significance. Their dedication and commitment to maintaining the sanctity of the place are commendable. One aspect that impressed me greatly was the cleanliness and upkeep of the temple. The premises were spotless, and the gardens surrounding the temple added to the charm. It was evident that the management takes great pride in maintaining the temple's cleanliness and ensuring a pleasant experience for devotees. The temple also hosts various religious and cultural events throughout the year. During my visit, I was fortunate to witness a traditional music and dance performance that showcased the vibrant traditions of the region. It was a delightful spectacle, and I was impressed by the temple's efforts to promote and preserve the local culture. Furthermore, the temple provides several amenities for visitors, including a prasadam counter offering delicious food and refreshments. The prasadam was not only scrumptious but also served with utmost hygiene and care. In conclusion, Sri Kalaseshwara Swami Gudi is a truly divine place that offers a spiritual retreat for devotees and visitors alike. The temple's stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and emphasis on cleanliness make it a standout destination for anyone seeking a profound connection with the divine. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Sri Kalaseshwara Swami Gudi to experience the peace and spirituality it offers.

This place is around 10-15 km from Horanadu. Private busses are available anytime and they'll stop near the temple of you want. The Kalaseshwara temple is one the oldest temples. Interiors are quite different compare to Annapoorneshwari temple of Horanadu

Legendary temple with abundant history! As per the Legend, Indra ordered Agni and Vayu to Kill Kaalakeya Asuras. In the war, they killed many and some Asuras flew from the battleground and took shelter under the Ocean. Agni and Vayu returned to Indra and narrated the story. As they didn’t fulfil the order, Indra cursed them to take birth on the Earth. Mitra and Varuna did penance for Lord Siva. Indra, God of Heaven ordered Urvasi to disrupt Tapas. Mitra and Varuna attracted to the beauty of Urvasi and dropped the Lust Drops in a Pot. Agatsya and Vasishta took birth from the pot (Kumba). Sage Agastya offered prayers to Lord Siva for years with flowers and Halu Payasam. Impressed Lord Siva appeared before him and named as Kalasheshwara. From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was built during the reign of Vidarbha King Srutha Bindu. Temple exists between 1154 -1157 AD and locals used to worship the deity. This temple received huge contributions from Somashekhar Nayak. Timings: Morning Hours: 7:30 am – 1:00 pm Evening Hours: 3:30 pm – 8:30 pm
