Square Chopin

Park

👍👍 My girlfriend and I live next to this park. Therefore, we agree that it can be noisy here in the evenings. Lots of dog walkers who don't clean up after them so be careful on the greens. During the day they play ball, grandmothers and mothers sit with strollers. Walking distance to tram, pharmacies,... People often mention square,

During the day they play ball, grandmothers and mothers sit with strollers. Walking distance to tram, pharmacies, shops, etc. The square is connected with Chopin purely symbolically, because Fryderyk himself lived in the same area with the same houses, but in a different city. In 2010, the Polish embassy presented his bust to the Kaliningrad mayor's office. So they decided to put it here, in this park.

I went to school through this square for 8 years and had no idea that the square had anything to do with Chopin’s life. In the 70s they tried not to use such names. It’s good that they don’t make prejudices out of this now.

Chopin Square, aka Zieten, aka simply “nickel”), judging by old maps, it all began in about the 17th century. A small village on the border of the Kaporno Heath. A couple of houses, a barn... at the beginning of the 20th century the city broke out of the medieval walls and reached the present... now, like the last 100 years, this place is good for children and grandmothers during the day, and in the evening it becomes a hangout for local youth . This was the case then, under the USSR, and now. People don't change, and that's probably a good thing...

A wonderful square equipped with benches. A beautiful flowerbed in summer. Mostly mothers walk with strollers or small children. Within walking distance are shops, a Koenigbaker confectionery, and a Sberbank branch.

Green square, quiet. A green lawn where you can sit right on the grass. The movement of vehicles is circular, at low speed, and only those who live in the area. It's simply paradise for children. There is no noise, and this is the main thing.

(Translated by Google) The square is located in a surviving area of the city, it is the center of the convergence of several streets with old German houses. A lovely area where you can experience the spirit of the old town. (Original) Сквер находится в уцелевшем районе города, является центром схождения нескольких улиц со старыми немецкими домами. Прекрасный район, где можно ощутить дух старого города.
