A peaceful place.. right beside the river. It's so calm. You feel relaxed and blessed. You also have one of the oldest wooden carved mosque as a monument. Also one can find the history and heritage described at the entrance gateway.

The mosque, Juma Masjid, which is one of the best kept and most attractive in the Kasaragod district, is located at Thalangara. Thalangara beach is on the western side of Kasaragod town and it is close to the railway station. The mosque contains the grave of Malik Deenar one of the Taabi’eens (people who had seen the companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the place is sacred to muslims. Malik Dennar was Persian scholar and traveller. He was one of the known muslims to have come to India in order to propagate Islam in indian subcontinent after the departure of king Cheraman perumaal.

This place is like an ancient historic masjid build around 2 or 3 hundred years ago! The place has 3 huge buildings! In one of them is split in half! One of half has a shrine, which is said to be one of the companions of prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)! And the other has a ladies prayer hall! The two other halls are prayer halls for men! One of hall is very old and historic and the other one is a newer generation one!

I've visited this place seven years ago. Didn't get the same feeling after the renovation and new buildings came. But these changes brought more facilities to th visitors. Spacious parking, nearby food cafe, toilets etc. Would have been better if the historical appearance was kept as it was. Apart from that, a note to general visitors, a very crowded place, do not expect a tourist place/ monument.

Alhamdulillah. Malik Dinar (R.A) andhya vishramam kollunna sthalam Malik Deenar (Arabic: مالك دينار, romanized: Mālik b. Dīnār, Malayalam: മാലിക് ദീനാര്‍) (died 748 CE)[2] was a Persian scholar and traveller. He was one of the first known Muslims to have come to India in order to propagate Islam in the Indian Subcontinent after the departure of King Cheraman Perumal.[3][4] .Even though historians do not agree on the exact place of his death, it is widely accepted that he died at Kasaragod and that his relics were buried at the Malik Dinar Mosque in Thalangara, Kasaragod. Belonging to the generation of the tabi'i, Malik is called a reliable traditionalist in Sunni sources, and is said to have transmitted from such authorities as Malik ibn Anas and Ibn Sirin. He was the son of a Persian slave from Kabul who became a disciple of Hasan al-Basri.[2][3] He died just before the epidemic of plague which caused considerable ravages in Basra in 748-49 CE, with various traditions placing his death either at 744-45 or 747-48 CE.[5]

Malik Deenar Masjid is a historic mosque located in Kasaragod district of the Indian state of Kerala. It is believed to have been built in the 7th century AD by Malik Ibn Dinar, a renowned Islamic preacher and one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad. The mosque is considered one of the oldest mosques in India and is an important pilgrimage site for Muslims in the region. The mosque has a traditional Kerala style of architecture and is built using locally available materials like laterite stones and wood. The mosque has several unique features, including the carved wooden pulpit and the prayer hall with a flat roof supported by wooden pillars. Malik Deenar Masjid is known for its annual festival, known as the 'Uroos', which is celebrated in the Islamic month of Rabi' al-awwal (the third month of the Islamic calendar). The festival is marked by various religious and cultural events and attracts a large number of devotees from different parts of the country. Today, Malik Deenar Masjid is not just a place of worship but also a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and an important tourist attraction in the region.

One of the oldest mosques in kerala. Renovated with two adjacent structures while keeping the oldest mosque. The interior of the old mosque has different experiences. One can experience the architecture of two different eras within one site. A must visit historical destination.

Pleasant experience visiting the shrine of Hazrat Malik Deenar, a very serene atmosphere. Unfortunately we had a tough time finding lodging facility for family stay. It's always good to book in advance and not expect to be very hygienic.
