The location is fantastic. The route from Madurai through Alanganallur is also a beautiful one. Lush green hills around the dam. You can even see many peacocks if you go in the cooler times of the day. But there is no guarantee of any water here. Sometimes, there's some water. Sometimes, it's completely dry. If you are interested in cycling on grass, or riding bike off-road, this is a very exciting place. We had a very good time off-roading and chasing peacocks here. Some people even come here to perform their morning rituals :P .

A water reservoir dam constructed at early 70's in Madurai ! The dam consists 35.41 Square Miles of catchment area and 769 feet of depth area in it. Locates in Palamedu, place which is famous for Jallikattu and sweet. Place of attraction to the locals and tourist. Yet, the tourism needs to be work out to bring their best in terms of tourist point of view. Nice place to check out with family !

Sathaiyar dam is a Beautiful place near Madurai. Dam is surrounded by hills looks so beautiful. On the way to the dam from Madurai is awesome. Beautiful scenery and hill view on both sides. Many birds are there in the dam. Water level depends upon the season. Need some improvements and maintenance. Nothing much there to explore, good for nature lovers. Small picnic spot.

Awesome view!! Reservoir surrounded with green! Fishermen go for fishing with small boats here!! Only con is there is no cleanliness maintained near Dam gate, hope authorities take good care of it!!
