Kakkaturutu,
an
impressive
little
island
in
the
Alappuzha
backwater,
became
famous
after
National
Geographic
travel
magazine
included
it
in
its
"Around
the
World
in
24
Hours"
list.
According
to
the
magazine's
photo
tour,
sunsets
from
the
islands
are
among
the
best
in
the
world.
A
serene
and
serene
island
located
in
Ezhupunna
Panchayat,
surrounded
by
the
vast
Lake
Vembanad.
The
small
island
3
km
long
and
2
km
wide
can
only
be
reached
by
village
boat.
There
are
over
200
houses
on
"Crow
Island"
and
the
only
means
of
transport
for
residents
to
get
to
the
mainland
is
by
country
boat.
We
can
see
a
lot
of
vacant
lots
between
the
little
houses.
Unlike
other
islands
in
the
region,
Kakaturutu
does
not
sink
even
in
heavy
rain
and
is
a
haven
for
migratory
birds.
Swaying
palms,
green
paddy
fields,
ducks
playing
in
the
water,
small
ponds,
various
birds
nesting
in
the
trees,
and
narrow
muddy
paths
greet
us
as
we
stroll
through
the
small
island.
Photographers
will
love
this
place
because
there
are
several
postcard
frames
on
the
island.
Here
we
can
capture
the
beauty
of
rustic
country
life
and
it
is
like
traveling
back
in
time.
Time
stops
here
and
a
quiet
and
comfortable
atmosphere
reigns.
Fishing
is
a
common
occupation
of
the
friendly
inhabitants
of
this
idyllic
world.
There
is
an
Ayurvedic
hospital
and
Anganbadion
Island.
Escape
the
hustle
and
bustle,
Kakkaturutu
takes
you
to
a
world
where
people
live
a
happy
and
satisfying
life
in
the
bosom
of
nature.
