The Kakkathuruthu Island in Vembanad Lake, Alleppey is a small magnificent island popularly known as the island of crows. It is a heaven for bird watchers. The coconut trees, paddy fields, toddy tapping, fish farming, coir making, and traditional Kerala food like Appam, puttu, crab roast, shrimp fry, duck, pork dishes with fresh catch from the backwaters...there are numerous aspects which make Kakkathuruthu special. Tourists also enjoy the view of the setting sun and watching the sky hues. The sole place in Kerala listed in Nat Geo's magazine for relishing the time of dusk. Things to do - Broom making, Boating, Chinese net, Shinkari melam, Catnet fishing, Clam meat processing.

It's a beautiful place....but it's just like an ordinary island in alapuzha...... the main thing is there's no tarred roads...no motor vehicles just like 70s..... That's and unforgettable moment when I visited there... we can get there by boat service...there are 2 types of boats private and gov authorised one....gov boats are totally free of cost ..... we can go for a boat ride around the island (private boat) .. you want to bargain..... they will say around 1000 you want to reduce it...after getting there you want to walk to the south end it's really beautiful..... this is a photogenic island

Some of kerala's most unexplored places. This tiny island is a place you must visit. They don't have any bridge connecting them to the town. The only means of transport is the vanchi. Kakathuruthu has one of the best sunsets and the water turns gold during sunsets..! Must visit...! There is a toddy shop too (family).

Kakkaturutu, an impressive little island in the Alappuzha backwater, became famous after National Geographic travel magazine included it in its "Around the World in 24 Hours" list. According to the magazine's photo tour, sunsets from the islands are among the best in the world. A serene and serene island located in Ezhupunna Panchayat, surrounded by the vast Lake Vembanad. The small island 3 km long and 2 km wide can only be reached by village boat. There are over 200 houses on "Crow Island" and the only means of transport for residents to get to the mainland is by country boat. We can see a lot of vacant lots between the little houses. Unlike other islands in the region, Kakaturutu does not sink even in heavy rain and is a haven for migratory birds. Swaying palms, green paddy fields, ducks playing in the water, small ponds, various birds nesting in the trees, and narrow muddy paths greet us as we stroll through the small island. Photographers will love this place because there are several postcard frames on the island. Here we can capture the beauty of rustic country life and it is like traveling back in time. Time stops here and a quiet and comfortable atmosphere reigns. Fishing is a common occupation of the friendly inhabitants of this idyllic world. There is an Ayurvedic hospital and Anganbadion Island. Escape the hustle and bustle, Kakkaturutu takes you to a world where people live a happy and satisfying life in the bosom of nature.

This island is in kollam, ashtamudi lake. The island you are looking for is in Alappuzha, vembanadu lake. This is confusing because they are having same name

Amazing place to enjoy and tu be with nature. Parking space is just about adequate. Wear casual trousers to walk through the water during high tide and low tide.
