Situated in the foothills of western ghats, Kakkad Eco Tourism aims to provide the visitors a glimpse of unspoiled nature. It is managed by Vana Samrakshana Samithi (VSS) with the help of Dept. Forest, Kerala. There is a small park where both children and adults can enjoy. There is a walkway through the Kakkad ecotourism centre which leads you to evergreen patches of forest. There is a small stream passing by and the water there is cold even in summers. You can trek along the stream climbing a hill which again takes you to spectacular locations. It attracts a variety of birds, animals, butterflies and have a wide variety of medicinal plants also. Good for trekking Time 9am to 5 pm

I loved this place. You could find your concept about the small forests there, less crowded, most beautiful and peaceful. You could enjoy a small bath and swim in the stream. Kakkad’s streams are less wilder and safer than other tourist places nearby. There are no nearby shops to buy towels or similar items so you have to bring them from home.

It's an exciting and adventurous area.. you have to go in mansoon season, it's just overwhelming with its beautiness... Family can go and chill. It's really a forest with ticket having ₹30 for adults and there are restrictions. Working hours are 9-5 and shouldn't miss this one on the way to wayanad.. it's a must see eco-friendly area to chill

Kakkad is a hidden gem. It's a marvellous place for a perfect get away, especially for people from Kozhikode; since it gives you a good hideaway in a short yet long drive. Kakkad is peaceful and less crowded 🧘.You need to provide the staffs with an identity card inorder to get your paid tickets 💵. Note: they don't accept google pay if i remember. Also note, be ready to walk alot 🚶. You can even hike if you want to and they provide you multiple trails and routes that are super eco friendly. It's almost like a jungle path 🌳. You can spot wild snails, frogs, reptiles (non venomous) 🐌🕷️🦎 here and there . Don't forget to carry a sanitizer since you may encounter a clew of leeches . Spraying sanitizer helps you get rid of them. Steel benches are placed at perfect distances to rest . Be careful if you have plans to take a natural dip 🏊🏼‍♂️. They have a chnaging room at the entrance in case you want to change to your swimming attire. This place is prone to flash floods and many have lost their beloved ones. You won't be much tired after the hike because the trees cover you up from the sun. Try to carry a bottle of water along with some snacks to refuel 🥤🍱. Please don't litter the place🚮. There is a beautiful wooden bridge inside. Usually it rains almost every day here so don't forget your umbrella 🌂. Kakkad closes by 5 in the evening so plan your trip accordingly.

The entry fee is 30rs per person and 10rs parking fee for jeep/car. It is not far from highway(Engapuzha). Use Google maps or ask someone to get there

Loved the place It was a wonderful experience at Kakkad eco tourism, the old bridge and natural swings will bring you old memories. Few things which i don't like about Kakkad is There is no restroom/toilets (there should be at least one because they are charging 30/- for each person ) and i found that there are people drinking from besides the waterfall area. (There were no guards in the area)

One day trekking with camping We were there for just a jungle walk experience, the tropical rainforest is rich with flora and fauna, the walk is through a riverside and we had an opportunity to sight some small waterfalls. The highlight is the one day trekking and camping provided by the authorities. It's closed these days due to the pandemic and heavy rain but they will restart soon as they told us. It's an ideal location for trekking and bird watching

Great place for nature lovers. Its better to got early morning or early evening since it took time for a full walk till the end. They got ticket counter and parking area at the starting point, which will close at 5 PM. Attraction is trekking along with water. We can go 2 + km inside the forest area.

We reached here by 9:30 in the morning. We walked in aboht 150 metres inward and could see jungle walk and a small stream. We bathed in the stream and did not climb further up as we were carrying our 6 month old baby. This is a nice place to feel the forest and the water stream. The place is calm and quiet. Must visit. The staff is very friendly and helped us very well. Must visit.Parking fee 10 rs and entry fee 30 rs.

One of the best jungle hikes. Easy in the start and moderate as you go deeper. Climate inside is good despite the heat in summer. Best time to visit is after monsoon is over like late August to December.
