One of the most beautiful temples in Kerala. The route to this place is extremely blessed with natural beauty. If you are lucky, you may spot some wild animals as well. However, it is not safe to ride through those roads late at night or during early morning. We saw an elephant so close to the road at around 9 pm NB: Please confirm that the temple is open due to covid related restrictions.

Adding this review because i had a foreigner ask me what is going on here. So to start with, this place is also known as the 'kaasi of the south' . Lord Vishnu s temple is currently under renovation. The temple is attached to a river ( papanashini) where the final rituals of passed away loved ones are done. These rituals can then be done on an annual basis. If u are new around here. You could still do these rituals for your demised loved ones ( they are basically prayers to ask God to help them rest in peace ). It doesn't cost much ( 70Rs) either .

Ancient Maha Vishnu temple. Plan the trip based on Temple opening. Temple will be open from early morning to 12.30PM in the morning session. Not sure about the evening. But I think open after 5PM. I am suggesting early travel since you hopefully see few wild animals including elephant 🐘, deer 🦌 , peacock 🦚, kattupothu etc. Beautiful view every where. Calm place to spent few hours. Parking is available near the Temple. But limited. You just need to walk few 100 meters to reach Temple.

Thirunelli Temple (also Tirunelli) is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill in Kerala, India, near the border with Karnataka state. The temple is at an altitude of about 900m in north Wayanad in a valley surrounded by mountains and beautiful forests. It is 32 km away from Manathavady. Good Climate and beautiful views, Kattikulam to Thirunelli road is a inside the thickest forest .

So much years old temple. This temple is mentioned in Puranas & Vedic, so you can calculate the year of temple built. 20 years ago I visited the same temple after that I visited the temple today. The temple premises are in the same conditions as earlier. Renovation must needed temple. Great example of bad temple management. For temple renovation donation asking from devotees. What about hundi fund collected till date from the devotees, Government interested to take temple collection fund Not interested in Temple Renovation. If this temple was in Karna taka/TN the government themself may renovated it.

Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Kshetram is a beautiful and sacred temple located in the Brahmagiri hills of Wayanad, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in South India. I visited the temple recently and was impressed by the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The temple is located in a lush green valley surrounded by mountains and forests. The air is clean and fresh, and the sound of birdsong is everywhere. The temple is now under renovation.

Very calm and peaceful place no rush was there during weekdays. Stayed in rooms provided by temple authorities just near the temple itself. Room included a bed bathroom attached and a table no other amenities for rs. 500 for a single room. They also provide you hot water if needed. There are hotels and shops nearby the temple. The temple is under renovation work but you can visit anyway.

One of the major Hindu pilgrims centre situated in Wayanad District. I like the atmosphere here. "Balitharppanam" doing here at Papanasini River for last rites .At that time there is no photography allowed here. Through this way we can saw animals. Renovations works are going now..rooms also available here.

One of the most ancient Maha Vishnu temple of Kerala. It's located within the forest outskirts of Mananthavady, Wayanad Dist. Renowation works are progressing without affecting daily poojas and offering. This place is famous for its scenic beauty and traditional rituals.

I just loved the temple. It's such a pleasant place. Also, drive to the temple via Thirunelli forest is one of the best experiences. Temple has good parking space. You might find rooms to stay in private stays as well. You get a special payasam prasadam, which u must buy. Try visiting the temple in the evening. They open at 6pm in the evening. You can see deepam alankar. I loved this place the most in my Wayanad trip.

Beautiful, vishnu in its real avatar. I have not seen such a divine smile of the God. The temple is under construction, but worth visiting the place. The temple opens at 5:30 in the evening time. Not sure about morning time as we visited in the evening. Many lodging and boarding facility available surrounding it. If you are planning for returning to mysore from here in the evening, please observe that nagarhole road will be closed by 6pm.

I went to Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Kshetram for the second time, now the temple is under renovation works. The temple looked really old and special before, with a strong spiritual vibe. It's next to the big Brahmagiri hills and you get to see a beautiful view. The temple is well known for the last rites and there's a river for that passing by. The way to the temple is amazing, especially in the early morning when you can see lots of animals. It's a great place for both spirituality and enjoying nature

One of the beautiful temple sacred and lots of mystery and divine. Main God Vishnu along with Brahma and Shiva resides inside temple. Situated at the foot of Brahmagiri Hills. Beautiful scenery and calm place. It is too far from kalpetta wayanad region, around 1.5 hr journey situated in deep forest routes. Route to this temple is magnificent beautiful forest roads and wild animals will be crossed on road at early morning. There is Papanasini stream Emanating from the heart of Brahmagiri forest flowing through roots, leaves and flowers of ancient trees and medicinal herbs, Papanasini is a holy mountain stream accessible around 1 km northwest of the temple premises. Pilgrims bathe here as they consider its waters to be sacred with powers to absolve one's sins. Further, the temple offers services to immerse cremation ashes in the sacred mountain stream to be thus carried to Kaveri River and from there to the ocean. This is a part of the last rites.

Nestled amidst forests and hills in the lap of nature and the Western Ghats, the temple boasts a fantastic atmosphere. While the surroundings are breathtaking, there's room for improvement in parking and other facilities.
