Best place for exploring wildlife. Mainly covered by deciduous habitat. November to April-May is the best time to visit for wildlife Sightings. Let's ensure first entry ticket in the morning and evening, that will be worth. Keep one thing in your mind, this is an open habitat, not zoo so all the sighting chances are based on your luck, season, disturbance level, time etc. If you are unlucky, then try again.. good luck dudes 👍

We had planned two drives here but were told to only other with one y our homestay owners as its better to go out first thing in the morning. We arrived before 7 am to get in the queue for the first jeep out so as to maximise the chance of seeing the elephants and large cats. We were just the two of us in the first jeep and the driver and guide were very helpful trying to spot the animals as they were experienced at knowing where to look. However there are constant jeeps doing the same route and quite close together so its important to be first out before the animals are disturbed. We saw bison, monkeys, eagles, lots of deer, and finally elephants in the distance but sadly no cats. It is very reasonable even though foreigners are charged more than indians, we paid 700 rupees for the two adults.Would recommend.

Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary showcases in the misty lush green forest, have a glimpse in the Jungle, Feel the freshness of the air and get lost in the stupendous beauty of Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary. The Tholpetty Wildlife sanctuary is stretched to an area about 344.44 square kilometres. The sanctuary is full of tuskers, creepers, colourful birdies and butterflies. This spectacular beauty was established in the year 1973. The jungle is dominated by teak trees. This sanctuary is famous for the various threatened species of fauna especially the vultures. This sanctuary is not only popular for its breathtaking beauty but also for its activities. One can take a jeep safari to a look on the jungle, or else one can trek. This place is a paradise for bird watching also one can enjoy the stay at the misty covered forest and at the watchtower, this adventurous and unique feel could be acquired at the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary.

Quite disappointed with the safari. The evening safari started at 4:45pm and lasted approximately 90 minutes. We were lucky to spot any wild animals or birds except some spotted deers. The entire route was very dusty and dry in late December 2023. The keep ride was also an unpleasant experience for the back.

We had a wonderful visit to Tholpetty Wildlife. Visited in the afternoon session starting at 3pm. Less crowded during weekdays. Around 80 to 90 minutes ride inside the forest ranges. Animal spotting is luck and if you are on the first vehicle the chances are good. We got a good driver and seen mostly Deers, Peacocks and Monkey. When we thought that's it and we are not gonna spot any other animals, there comes an elephant which blocked our path. It was there for a while and we were waiting for it to move but it made a slight advancement towards us. Later it gave way to us. Worth a try. Charges are 150 per head and 720 for jeep driver. You can make a gang if you are alone or a couple.

One of the wild life sanctuary where you are sure to see elephants. Be careful about elephants alone as they can easily run to you in seconds. There is a safari trip in Jeep facility provided by Forest office. One Jeep for one team - costs approx 900 - around 1 hour trip inside forest. It's a good experience. Basically in the roadside itself you can see many wild animals if you are lucky. Enjoy your trip ☺️

It was nice trekking experience at Tholpetty wild life sanctuary. Ticket cost around 190 per head and jeep cost separate. Jeep Safari take us to forest where we can spot wild animals. Spotting animals is based on our luck. Today I spotted various types of deers, monkey, elephant and tiger. Heavy rain in deep forest is yet another bliss. It's 1.15 hours drive total.

Had a great experience of off-road driving. Should take tickets from counter and several jeeps are available on site for our travel. We should pay jeep drivers their charges which is fixed for 1 hours. Daily morning only 40 jeeps are available from 7am to 11am and evening 20 jeeps from 3pm to 5pm. Its our luck that we can see an animal or not. But they says almost all types of animals and reptiles are inside the forest which is spreading around 950 Sq. Km.

At the time this post the ticket cost would be : Adult: 150 Jeep : 85 + 815 (to be payed to the jeep driver) Parking fee : 20 Maximum person that jeep can accomodate is 7 The possibility of seeing wild animals entirely depend on luck. I felt really sleepy, so does others in my jeep.

If you are lucky you might see a lot of animals. Need to get 4x4 to get to the jungle. Parking is free. Drivers are friendly and they will explain you a lot of things. Exactly don’t remember what was the entry and 4x4 charge. You won’t get disappointed after the trip.

What a thrilling experience. It's feel like we are in discovery channel. The excitement to see wild animals in their own wild environment was just amazing. Must try your luck to see tiger in safari.

There is safari ride in the morning and in the evening (3 to 5 pm). Only 20 safari Jeep will be allowed during the visiting hours. They will issue ticket from 3pm in the evening. You can spot animals (deer, elephants, monkeys, tiger) if you are lucky! Good to visit to enjoy the wilderness of the natural forest.

The jeep safari ( 720 RS) was nice, though the road was so bumpy. We were lucky enough to see only deers & peacocks during the safari .

Great Safari into the forest. We saw lots of Elephants including a rogue one. Great Spot to go with family. They have Jeeps that fit at least 7 people at a time.

It takes around 1h 20mins. We were lucky enough to spot the tiger. It's not a guarantee that you may spot one. Apart from that we got to see an elephant and deer.

It was nice to take a view of the forest. Didn't see any animals other than deer. Because of thick weeds unable to view.

We went on 3pm - 5pm slot on a sunday, there was a fair amount of crowd, so suggest that you reach early & stand in queue to get the tickets, best is if you get the first ticket & go by the first jeep which has the maximum possibility of viewing animals as animals will run away mostly after the first jeep crosses them.... We got to see Deers so many times that at last we had no excitement left to see deers 😂... We were lucky enough to see a single male elephant then a peahen & peacock then we saw lots of tortoises sun bathing on a log beside a lake & also our most common friend lots of langurs.... So we were happy to see a fair amount of animals, Tiger is a rare luck as the forest is very dense chances of spotting a tiger is very rare but keep your eyes & ears open you might be lucky enough to spot one ... Overall suggest everyone to visit this place if you are visiting wayanad sometime or better if you have time then visit Bandipur.... We went to wayanad via bandipur & there also we saw deers multiple times on normal roadside.

🫤 It's a natural forest, don't expect u will see plenty of wild animals, but it's not. I only saw the deers, monkeys. So, if you don't want to disappoint yourself don't expect too much. Price also very high, not value for money. U enjoy the forest with lots of trees
