A must visit place in Wayanad which is not covered in most of the standard itineraries. This rock is very unique with a small lake nearby and full of lemongrass plants. It is very peaceful, there is no crowd at all.

Do little tracking and you see the nature's magic. It is a natural metamorphic rock formation resembling a human skull.

Such a beautiful natural wonder. A claim of 500 mtrs uphills on the rocks. Try to visit at evening. This place has no tickets and counters. You cannot see the panthom rock from road. You have to park the car near the pond.

Phantom Rock is one of the best sunset points in Wayanad. While returning from Edakkal Caves you can visit this place. It's nearly 7km from Edakkal Caves. The entry fee to this place is 30rupees. Here you don't expect many things to see. In short, you will able to see the Robot shaped rock. And also you will see a big deep area. Also, the best part is you can enjoy the sunset from here. Price: Rs. 30/-

On the way to flowers exhibition centre in Wayanad. Nothing special but you can have a good view of city and relax sometimes. Good place to take few photos like I did.

Beautiful scenic place however little isolated and not having very good vibe. You can have a halt of not more than 5 minutes to see and click few pictures. Very less or no crowd will be seen. There’s rock structure which looks like the face of phantom and so this name. There’s a small pound kind of place at the bottom which looks serene.

A beautiful view, serene place, look at how the water is so clear. The pile of rocks gets its name from the shape of the rock at the top, which resembles a head. Seen from far away, and seemingly looking on at the surroundings, it is a strange yet beautiful sight. This clump of rocks stands guard over the valley leading to the Edakkal Caves, and is clearly visible from the caves!

A decent place to get the view of the valley from hill top. The rocks does not look amazing. But it is not that popular so you can certainly go here to enjoy the beautiful place in solitude and click some nice pictures. It is also not commercialized so you won't find any food stalls or any other shops.

The place was good and had a wonderful scenic view from the top. If you are an adventurer u can climb up to rock top. There are many mountains around it. The entry fee is 10rs per person. After 6pm it will be closed. When we visited it was raining and it was an awesome experience.

This is a really majestic rock formation. I believe entry is 10 rupees, however we accidently stumbled upon it by walking over the quarry behind it (which have some great quarry lakes in). I've marked only 4 stars as there is a bit of litter around which ruins some of the aesthetic.

This is definitely a must visit. At first we thought it's just a rock, is it even worth it. But it is one of the few places in Wayanad that you can reach without much trekking and has the most beautiful views, stretches of green as far as you can see and in every direction. We went mid September. We went on a weekday and there were only a handful of other people around, and it was just so peaceful. I'd imagine if I were living in Wayanad for longer this would be my go to place for my alone time, or simply to take a short break in the day. The place closes at 5pm though and we reached around 4.30, wish we could have stayed longer. Do look around and you'll find amazing views of the quarry, well hidden. There is a parking charge of rs10 for 2 Wheeler.

Phantom Rock is a monolithic sculpture in Wayanad which resembles like a human skull. This tourist attraction can be covered on the way to Edakkal Caves or Karapuzha Dam. There is no entry fee as such but a minimal parking/entry fee for the vehicle. You can club this point with edakkal caves or Karapuzha dam. Consider to be average tourist location. The rock appears like a Phantom (Imaginary) shaped man. It is roughly 8 kms. from sulthan bathery. From main road one has to tresspass through private quarry and walking for 2-3 min upside to reach the phantom rock. There is a panaromic view of wayanad landscape from here.

Nature's natural creation of the Rock looks like a man's head, view of the rock looks so good. Such a beautiful natural formation. The view from the place is also beautiful you will click lot's of pictures. It's like 150 meters walk from the parking space to to rock but not at all safe to go near the head shaped rock 🪨 so we spent like 15 minutes, enjoyed the beautiful view away. No per person tickets, ₹50 traveler/ four wheeler to enter.

it's a abandoned quarry Anyway nice place, beautiful view of the surrounding valley and lush greenery. The rock formation is unique and resembles a human skull or the cartoon character phantom. There is no entry fee

Nice & calm place to visit. Minimum parking fee but awesom view from the top. Preferred to visit either in the morning or evening. The rock at the top looks like Phantom statue however unsure if it is natural or created due to mining! Whatever is the fact, we have a cool place to visit for sure.

This is an off beat trail. It gets few visitors during season and fewer off season. It's more of a view point. Nonetheless, it is beautiful.

One of the best places to see the greatness of nature. Simply good. It is the spot where we can see the greenery around , from the top view.

One more place that we chanced upon! Not in any must visit list of waynad, but i think it's worth a visit. You get a beautiful view of the entire place and it's lush greenery, the stone query also make way for a beautiful backdrop of scenic pictures.

Phantom Rock is a natural metamorphic rock formation near Ambalavayal in Wayanad district. It resembles a human skull, and thus is known as Phantom Rock.Frankly the photos online of the Phantom Rock in no way shows the actual rock. The actual rock is close to the road and it is shaped like the face of the Masked Phantom. Its a good place to enjoy sunset and we get the Ariel view of the mountains around and a quarry located just beside the rock

Average experience. Takes a little hike to reach the rock. The view around is quite nice. Very few shops around. Not much parking space.

The photos doesnt do justice to the view that you see here... totally breathtaking, serene and relaxing.. you cam hike a bit and then sit and relax in this pituresque place... do visit if you are around and want to be away from the daily hustle bustle..

  • 4/5 Prashanth P. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing much to see here, except for a natural rock that looks like a man's face. Monsoon season would be the ideal time to visit. The lake that surrounds the rock, had almost dried up as went during the summers.
