Beautiful place to visit with family, friends and kids. We reached here around 10am. Booked buggy ride for β‚Ή800. Also inside no plastic material is allowed. You will get enough water n eatery inside. Animals are less as because of Covid, many animals are still to be brought here. Best time to visit in around 11, as it’s animals & birds feeding time and you can get a good glimpse of them all.

Its a wonderful experience.u can view a large variety of animals here..one of the things i like here is most of the animals are in open cages. Photographs can be taken in a forest like environment.its an ideal place to take kids for vacation. Dslr camera is not allowed.. I recommend to visit the history museum, art museum which is also in the same compound. for kids there is a playground area too.

This is a very big Zoo with good flaura and fauna here. The Zoo is beautiful with good natural beauty and animals. You can spot wild cats e.g. Tiger and Lions. Other wild animals e.g. Elephant, Hippopotamus, Rhinos, Ostrich and different types of snakes can be viewed here. The place is good for kids as they can have a very good and memorable experience here.

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is one of the oldest zoological parks in India, established by the Travancore royal family way back in 1857 and was modernised in 1995 to its present form. Spreads over 50+ acres of land in the heart of city and is home to almost 80+ species of animals from across the world, including lion-tailed macaque, Indian rhinoceros, Asiatic lion, royal Bengal tiger, white tiger, bison, leopards, aviaries and a reptile house that exhibits a couple of green anacondas. The best time to visit will be around 10-11 am in the morning when the animals are being fed by the zookeepers. Equip yourselves with a pair of good walking shoes and be prepared to walk for at least a couple of hours across an uneven terrain. Or you can even book an electric buggy from the ticket counter and hop on for a tour. The lockdown and the subsequently reduced footfall has started to show its effect on the maintenance of the enclosures. The zoo could do a lot better with a makeover, with more number of signboards, carefully planned out layouts with inputs from zoologists (maybe even students of zoology) from the universities. But still a good place to walk around for a couple of hours and learn about the fauna of our land.

It's the best Zoo in Kerala currently. Decently clean and well maintained. Has a good bunch of animals too. It's a plastic free zone so pack your bags accordingly. Plastic bottles can be taken inside but you need to pay Rs. 20 per bottle which is refundable on producing at exit. Also mask is compulsory but not required to wear πŸ₯΄. There are electric battery cars for rental but it's fast booked.

An old style zoo, with some animals kept in open enclosures and some other in steel cages. Some enclosures in not very good conditions and overcrowded. Some maintenance works were ongoing. A favourable point is the prohibition of plastic, including plastic water bottles, allowed only with a deposit, way higher than the bottle cost. Good to make people think. Overall worth the visit, although lots of room to improve

One and only zoo in South kerala, only few animals now most of the cages are vacant, some birds and snakes are there. Parking chargers are very High, 150 rs per car. Zoo tickets are very cheap, rupees 30 person. Battery car also available for those who are not able to walk. Nice place for kids and families. Art gallery and museum is there, aquarium is there, park is there. Nice place to hangout a whole day with family.

First of all, my 5 star goes to the zoo for how they ensure that no plastic enters the compound of Zoo. In my opinion it is a great move from the authority. I had visited here long time ago, but now I feel there are lot of changes. I can see some of the places which can be home for many animals are empty. Visiting with family will be nice. There are many places to hangout with friends and also for taking photos. There is also a museum. If you want you can go there and explore. Overall, I really loved it.

Wonderful place, especially for kids. Full of trees, so one won't feel the summer heat much. Good number of birds and animals. Zebra, giraffe and a big vulture which used to be there few years back are missing now.My personal favourite are the hippos. Overall very well maintained. Parking available inside at Rs. 150. Also battery operated carts to see around the zoo (though I've never used as I prefer walking)

A very engaging experience at the Thiruvananthapuram zoo... Bice shady place, very nicely maintained and lots of animals seemingly in good health. The carnivores sections and the pelicans-storks-macaws section are amazing! However one caveat - the parking is limited... so try reaching early (before 10:00 AM preferably)

The animals are seen at their natural environment. The zoo is really big with many carnivores and herbivores enjoying their freedom within the enclosures. It also showcases many tropical plants and is a miniature forest. One wonderful thing was that there are useful information about the habitat, origin, apart from their scientific names and common names which was very educative. A serious student of biological sciences would find it useful. A must destination for kids with their friends and family. An ideal place for picnics and get-together. The entrance is very modest.

Wonderful experience. Clean environment. Children would have a great enjoyment. You will find different wild animals, reptiles including green anaconda, variety of birds. Nearly 3 hours required to watch all these by walking. You won't get bored. Wheel chair can also be carried for disabled one's. Washroom, toilet, benches for resting, and a cafeteria facility also included inside the zoo.

A beautiful place with all kinds of beautiful animals! You'll find tigers, different birds, reptiles, wild animals and snakes. The entire zoo is well maintained and it's fun walking there, there's rush on holidays but again it doesn't take away the charm of the place. Also there's aquarium and natural historical museum in the same area but different tickets. Food is good too, but it's usually crowded. 2-3 hours will be good for the whole thing. Great to go with family especially kids.

Lovely experience visiting the zoo. Very well maintained and they have benches set up in many locations to have a break and catch your breath if you get too tired of walking. Worth every bit of the entry fee. Extra charge Inclusive in the entry if you have a professional camera with you. Pics include only some of the animals, visit the zoo to see more*

The main attraction of the zoo is lion and tiger. The animals they have are very healthy and bulky. They have kept the animal in very good state. They should add zebra elephant giraffe. Then it would be the best one. But overall the experience is nice. My kid enjoyed alot and with animal they have maintained the zoo very nicely. So except animals there are other photographic places too. In addition they have butterfly and snake park. Overall very nice place to go

Enjoyable place with nature. Place is too clean and properly maintained. No plastics bags and water bottles are allowed. If you definitely need that thing, you may pay fine and they give one sticker for that things. After you exit the gate you show that things to the officer, he will give your money back. I recommend that don't go with plastic bags and bottles. Animals may eat or surrounding may pollute. So avoid please. Keep environment as it is. Thank you❀️.

Eco Friendly,Plastic free Zoo..My family enjoyed the visit. Good efforts are there to keep the Zoo clean. The cooling effects of the trees 🌳 🌲 🌴 I felt after many years,it's really amazing. Many of the cages are empty. I found many of the animals (Lion,Fox,Zebra,Elephant's,Girraffe....) and birds are missing in this visit. Both the πŸ… and the white πŸ… are in small cages, still I remembered those animals i have seen in open cages. Reptile section improved, first time I am seeing Green Anaconda, it's a giant one. Battery operated cars πŸš— are available but I prefer walking πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ around the zoo .

Very nice zoo Good for kids, nice variety. Tiger, Lioness, white tiger, Good range of reptiles, leopards, Hippopotamus, enjoyed seeing healthy animals. Good one time go, if you are with very small kids or old people battery car is a good option. If you walk it will take 2 Hrs and 1 Hr with a battery car is sufficient.

This is a place that every one should go when you are visiting trivandrum. It's nearly 4 km from trivandrum railway station and thampanoor bus terminal. One should pay extra for camera, plastic is restricted. Those who have difficultly in walking and for old people bugy vehicle is available because the zoo spreads over 55 acres. Most of the animals were missing when i have visited, like giraffe, zebra, rhinoceros, elephant. It's like a forest with lots of trees, pond's, animals, birds and variety of reptiles. Camera is not allowed in reptiles house. Refreshments and snacks are available inside the zoo. Better go by 10 am, less rush and feeding time for the habitants.the zoo is well maintained with enough staff for cleaning and for looking after the zoo habitants.

The Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, India. It occupies 55 acres of woodland, lakes, and lawns. A very good place for a wonderful outing with family and very specially children. There are wide varieties of animals and species inside. Also many amenities and other things such as Napier museum, fish aquarium, etc. There is beautiful garden surrounded with a walkway for jogging and evening walk.

A Must visit place.. there option for a zoo cart which will be better for elderly which will cost about Rs. 800..on weekends and holidays parking will be an issue and is better to go for paid parking at the side entrance (Rs.150) rather than trying to get a free spot at the adjacent roads..Canteen and toilets facilities are there inside the zoo though are not well maintained.. The best timings will be from 10 to 11.30..

Nice natural beauty place. Try to arrive at 9 am as much as possible because if you go at that time you can see all the sights without much rush and leave by noon. πŸ“Leave your bag and other luggage in the cloakroom as there is quite a bit of walking to do. πŸ“There are various places to relax after a tiring walk and many cold drinks are available inside.

I'm giving one star for the zoo ,coz except a very few animals, most of animals are kept in substandard conditions.deplorable state ..large birds jammed into in small cages ,most of them unable to even take a small flight ,it's cruel to watch . water in most of cages was dirty .there isn't enough space to give a decent living conditions for these poor animals...they should close the century old cages.looks very depressing for these animals. and instead of buying new animals ..would be good to see them provide a good space for these caged birds..and if possible giv a interactive sections for the public with them..

Zoo is maintained well. It has a lot of animals including an aquarium, reptile house and butterfly farm. Tickets to the zoo cost 30 Rs for adults. The elephant, giraffe, camel enclosures were closed when I visited. There were no lions either, there was a lioness though. They have made arrangements to have a seat and relax throughout the area. The washrooms were clean as well. Overall, enjoyed the experience.

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo 🦁🦚- A gem in the heart of the city! Spread across 50 lush acres, it's a paradise with greenery, lawns, play areas, a cafeteria, and of course, a captivating zoo. I had a fantastic time exploring the diverse animal exhibits. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making it a perfect family day out. A must-visit if you're in the area, the variety of animals is impressive, and the enclosures are spacious and well-maintained. Can't wait to visit again! Zoo entrance fee for adults is just 30/-, and you'll find a snack area and restrooms inside. The only downside is that some animal cages were empty, with names displayed on boards. πŸŒ³πŸΎπŸ” #ThiruvananthapuramZoo #FamilyFun

Not worth the time and money we spend if you planning to travel just for the Zoo visit 1. Most of the animal cages/shelters are empty / or not cleaned properly 2. Walkways are not neatly maintained 3. No celebrity animal except tiger, lion and hippo (others are some monkeys and birds); No giraffe, no zebra, no elephant, and many more missing 4. Parking fee is over hyped Rs 150 5. Lion and white tiger is kep in a jail like cage If you live in Thiruvananthapuram, and want to hangout an evening, then it is ok kind of place. However if you want to visit the zoo from outside Thiruvananthapuram city, then it is not worth. I feel like the space inside is not effectively managed.

This is a key highlight for tourists in Trivandrum. Though a small area in the centre of the city, this is a well maintained zoo with a wide range of wild animals and birds. Some nice points worth mentioning are 1. Well maintained queue management for ladies and gents seperately. 2. Cost effective tickets.3. No seperate tickets for camera mobiles. Camera token required for cameras only. 4. Plastic free zone. A neat token mechanism to reduce and track plastic usage. 5. Animals like Lions, Tigers, Striped Hyena, King Cobra, Anaconda and other exotic wild life available in close proximity.6. Availability of Tea and food stalls inside the premise.

Me and my kid were bored, so we decided to go to Zoo. As we planned, we were excited to see animals, near by. Especially we both were eager to see the wildest carnivores. After seeing Lions and Tigers in TV, there was an expectation to see them live as I have read in Kenneth Anderson books that they kill and can even carry a young buffalo on ther shoulder back... I wondered if it was possible, but when I saw, I understood it was possible.

The zoo is serene and calm, lots of different animals and birds to view. A good place for kids to enjoy and rejuvenate. Personally I feel for the animals, the wild is their call and they should be free in wild. Though they are taken care of they don't have the space to be free, i have visited the zoo probably after decades but i enjoyed it.

I went with my workmates and spent some time there. It was nice to go with them, but the walk was really tiring. The hot weather was not to our advantage. And we were not able to see all the animals over there. That disappointed us. We could only see the lion by accident and was not able to see the tiger there anywhere. Until next time then.

I visited this zoo during summer vacation. So it was a little much of a rush during that time. The zoo was well maintained. we should take the entry ticket and electric car service also available there. One of the best places to hangout with our family while in Thiruvananthapuram. Knowledgeable details about many species are displayed over each area. Mini canteens are facilitated in specific areas. I personally like the section of shakes because many varieties of shakes including anaconda can be seen there. The entire zoo and museum was kept up well, and parking was plentiful. Garbage is also placed in designated areas to prevent waste from being thrown in the wrong places so try to use them properly.🌏❀

The environment which is created there for animals is very attractive and looking so natural. More comfortable to spend time with family at evening time. The entry fee is also worth. But parking area should have to elaborate on weekends.

It's nicely maintained zoo in the heart of TRV city. Lot of rare animals and birds and authority have created a natural mini forest for them. Main attractions white Tiger, anaconda. Some are missing as well like Jiraf, Elephant and πŸ¦“ Parking is limited and costly. It opens at 9 am and parking fee is 150. No proper sign boards for parking is a negetive Ticket charges are cheap like 30 for adults and for children it's free

Enclosures should be maintained/cleaned better, especially the steel bars aa they are covered in moss. Cleanliness overall is good, good initiative to tag the bottles going in to prevent pollution. Animals seem to be taken care of well, hope that is the case.

I visited Trivandrum Zoo last week with my kids. The kids enjoyed the zoo very much. My kids told they could not see Giraffe, Elephant & Zebra. I hope the authorities see my post and add this animals too. The authorities are maintaining the zoo very well. Zoo surroundings are clean and tidy. I really felt the entrance fee to enter the zoo is very less. The authorities should increase the entrance fees then only the animals specially the Lion, Tiger and Cheetah would get good quality meant in huge quantity. This guys need huge quantity to meat to be active so kindly increase the entrance fees then only u guys can maintain the zoo very well.. Overall experience was fantastic and kids loved it. I would have given 5 star if they could have added more animals as mentioned by my kids.

One of the best zoos in kerala, located in the heart of Trivandrum city occupies around 50 acres of land full of greenery, lawns, children playing area, cafeteria, zoo and public park. Worth spending quality time with friends and family. Large parking space but the parking fee is very high. Zoo entrance fee for adults is 30/- and inside the zoo you can find a small snack area and restrooms.

We came to Trivandrum zoo in Jan 2022 after around 5 years and things have gone worse than earlier. We took the buggy/golf cart which was a good additional service for INR 450 but if you want to spend time and see animals I would recommend go around walking. A lot of sections of the zoo, like the one with pellicans was under maintenance and access was restricted. Some other sections like large birds, monkeys were also restricted for access. The tiger enclosure is quite small and its sad to see the tiger in such a small cage. The lion enclosure only had one lioness. There are two white tigers but even they were in very small cages. Only good addition was in the reptile section where two green anacondas have been added. The zoo is losing its charm and needs a lot of maintenance to come back to its earlier popularity. The ticket charges are INR 30 for adults which is quite low. The parking charges are INR 150 per car. Over-all a very disappointing experience and I hope the authorities will consider bringing the Zoo back to its old form.

Tvm Zoo is one of the oldest zoo. You can have a visit with your loved ones in the morning or evening, most of the time its feels like warm inside. You can walk around the zoo or there is option you can have a small vehicle with driver you can have. No need to carry food or water all are available inside. More than 80 species are inside the zoo. Most of the are birds . I feel like the most visit section was the one have snakes , its very awesome. No need to plan a day for zoo if you are visiting tvm for other spots you can definitely include zoo .

Last week, we visited Trivandrum zoo. It was not very crowded. The normal rate is 20 Rs for adults, and some other packages are available. You have to reach me before 5 p.m. It will be a nice experience for the kids. It's nice to spend time with family. We can walk around the place. Parking is available based on the rush. The parking rate is high, at 150 Rs. Also, we can spend time near the museum area. There is not much varieties of animals and birds. But still can visit one time. Their reptile section are good and highlight is green anaconda.

Nice zoo in the heart of the city.. plastic free, well maintained, cooperative staff, good collection of animals.. a good 2 to 3 hrs of time required to cover the zoo. Visiting on a weekday will save your time in entering the zoo space.

Well maintained Zoo in Kerala. Lush green environment. Signboards are well placed for details about burds and animals and also how to take a tour in the zoo. Special mention is for availability of drinking water and restroom facilities inside the zoo with ample seating to rest. It is definitely worth a visit if visiting Thiruvananthapuram. Ticket price is very reasonable @ Rs 20/- . Children will enjoy the most.

Outside First: People hike here early in the morning Ticket counter opens at 9 am. Outside as well Green and good for photography. People selling water outside are doing business saying that there is no water inside but there is drinking water inside. 30 rupees per person to enter No food is allowed inside, cans of water can be taken, cell phones are not allowed, plastic bags are not allowed. Inside: There are many animals inside but my favorite is white tiger, Bengal tiger, leopard, deer, wild buffalo, king cobra very nice super.

I visited the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo after almost 5 years. Last time I was here, I was really disappointed. However, this time, I was really surprised. The zoo was completely engaging with a wide variety of animals, and the animals look much healthier. The zoo is well maintained, and the trees have been conserved in a good manner, this gives it a wildlife-like air and provides nice strolling shade.

Trivandrum Zoo is a fantastic place to explore wildlife at an affordable price of just 30 rupees per ticket. The park's thoughtful planning makes it easy to navigate and enjoy the diverse range of animals on display. While it's unfortunate that outside food and water bottles aren't allowed, the abundance of animal species more than makes up for it. From majestic rhino to colorful birds, the zoo offers an enriching experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out, Trivandrum Zoo is definitely worth a visit.

Neatly maintained place, enough seats are provided to the visitors to take a rest while exploring the zoo. There is adequate shade from the trees all over the walkways. Sufficient parking lots are also provided. Refreshment outlets near the exit is also very convenient for the visitors. Worth visiting this place

This is one of Thiruvananthapuram's major attractions especially if you are a visitor group with children. Layout of the zoo is very good and during most times of the year visitors will not be too fatigued. If however you have very young children and elderly people in your group, you are strongly advised to take the bus tour especially during the peak summer months of March, April and May. It was the second visit to the zoo for my three year old granddaughter and my wife and I were thrilled and excited at the prospect of showing the picture book animals to her as flesh and blood creatures. The little one was particularly impressed and fascinated by the hippos one of which obliged with a prodigious yawn. The tigers and zebras were also a great hit with her and it was only with a lot of coaxing and cajoling that we were finally able to move away from their respective enclosures.

Was a perfect place for my toddler to explore and become fascinated ,. Previously when I visited an year back, there was an emaciated lion in the grilled cage- gave me feeling of pity.. This time there were two lions wandering in an open cage like a real king. Everything was properly maintained. They won't allow plastic items including bottles and eatables inside. If you can carry a non plastic bottle for water, it would be better. You can refill it from inside. Be prepared for a good walk ☺️

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is a must-visit for anyone visiting the city. It is a well-maintained zoo with a wide variety of animals, including tigers, monkeys, leopards, lions and more. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and provide a great atmosphere to appreciate all the different animals. The zoo also has a number of educational exhibits, making it a great place to learn about animals, trees and their habitats. The entry fee is 30 per head.

The zoo is humid and we need to walk. Please keep a steel cup or water bottle. You get dehydrated easily. There are no proper sign boards. No zoo guide. You don't have a rental cycle. The battery cars are purely their option to provide you with tickets or not. The number of species is also limited. You need to stand in a long queue so start early. Kids will enjoy seeing the animals. The natural museum was the highlight inside the same premises with another ticket but thankful the line wasn't having waiting time.

Very good maintenance... cleanliness and the infrastructure attract people... because the basic plan and arrangements set up here make this zoo different from other ones. The collection of animals and other creatures are peculiar in every nature.

A well maintained zoo, ample of greenery and fresh air, could have had proper signage or route map inside the zoo, washroom facilities available but chargeable, all herbivorous and carnivorous animals are kept in their natural habitat, except Penguins, Elephants. Polite and helpful zoo keepers.

I recently visited the Thiruvananthapuram zoo in India and was thoroughly impressed. It was well maintained and beautiful, and is certainly a great place to visit for anyone who loves animals. The zoo has a wide variety of animals, including tigers, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, leopards, and more. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and provide a great atmosphere to appreciate all the different animals. The knowledgeable guides there were also helpful in providing facts and information about the different species, especially the more exotic ones. The animal enclosures were well-maintained and spacious, and there were even a few animal shows available, which were very entertaining. Overall, I had a great time and would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Thiruvananthapuram!

It was beautiful time and experience here. Watching all the nature’s wonderful creatures in budget. Suitable for all age groups. Maintained very well. Only concern is tough to get car and bike parking. You can pick days to visit the zoo according to climate conditions.

Great place to spend a day if you're in trivandrum. Buggy rides are available but i won't suggest it if you are more of an "explore" Kind of person, spoils the fun. There's a lot to see in there. Better if you keep a bottle of water with you. Butterfly park was a waste, except there were no butterflies during my visit.
