Poopoli
National
Agrifest
and
Wayanad
Flower
Show
at
Ambalavayal
in
Kerala
is
held
every
year
in
January
and
marks
the
beginning
of
the
new
year.
It
is
the
biggest
flower
show
in
Kerala
and
is
a
venue
for
showing
and
exploring
the
latest
trends
and
techniques
in
horticulture
and
floriculture.
The
Wayanad
Flower
Show
is
a
beautiful
exhibition
of
stunning
flowers,
with
as
many
as
100
stalls
a
year.
Vertical
gardens
and
a
variety
of
flowers
are
the
highlights
of
this
festival,
and
apart
from
that,
the
flower
show
is
an
avenue
for
adventurous
sports
and
delicacies.
A
large
collection
of
ornamental
plants,
nearly
200
stalls
that
sell
garden
plants
and
agricultural
implements,
and
pavilions
of
government
and
private
institutions
are
drawing
people
in
large
numbers
to
the
sixth
edition
of
Poopoli,
an
international
flower
show
being
organised
by
the
Kerala
Agricultural
University
(KAU)
at
its
Regional
Agriculture
Research
Station
(RARS)
at
Ambalavayal
in
the
district.
Gladiolus
flowers
in
all
hues,
except
black,
blue
and
green
colours,
on
nearly
two
acres
are
the
cynosure
of
all
eyes.
Other
attractions
of
the
show
include
a
rose
garden
with
more
than
1,000
varieties
of
rose
plants
set
up
on
2.5
acres;
a
gladiolus
garden
with
13
varieties
on
one
acre;
hundreds
of
dahlia
plants
in
25
varieties;
and
a
floating
garden
with
Chinese
balsam
and
aster
plants
set
up
on
12
bamboo
rafts,
and
two
coracles
with
marigold
on
a
lake
in
the
middle
of
the
garden.
Colourful
spread
The
gladiolus
garden
that
are
filled
with
white
and
yellow
flowers,
chendumalli
or
tagetes
and
vaadamalli
(gomphrena
globosa),
fragrant
dahlia,
unique
tulips
that
are
brought
form
Kashmir
and
more
than
1000
varieties
of
roses
and
orchids
are
some
of
the
major
attractions
of
the
flower
show.
The
visitors
would
be
attracted
to
the
vertical
gardens
made
with
colourful
flowers
as
well.
2020
special
sights
Rain
garden,
coracle
garden,
floating
garden
are
gravel
garden
would
be
the
unique
sights
of
2020.
Besides,
the
visitors
can
hang
out
at
the
food
court
or
take
part
in
the
cooking
competitions
or
enjoy
the
pet
show.
There
are
more
than
200
stalls
by
the
government
and
nongovernmental
organizations
at
the
flower
show.
The
entry
fee
for
adults
would
be
Rs
50
per
head
and
Rs
30
for
kids.
