Well maintained roads with amazing views. Deers, peacocks and elephants are not a rare sight anymore. Make sure you don't park your vehicle within the forest or else you might get fined. Please don't throw any type of plastics on the road. I have travelled many times while going to Ooty from Mysore. Always thrilled to travel on this road 🎉🎉

If you are going with a mind of sighting tiger then you will be upset.Keep an open mind and enjoy the safari. You will sight a lot of animals and drive through the jungle has a different level of charm. Morning safaris are best.It may not be possible to take pictures of all animals or birds or insects you spot.So enjoy every bit.

Bandipur National Park, located in the Indian state of Karnataka, is an illustrious wildlife reserve known for its breathtaking natural beauty and diverse wildlife. Spanning over 874 square kilometers, it is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is flanked by the Western Ghats, making it a vital habitat for numerous species. As a renowned tiger reserve under Project Tiger, Bandipur offers visitors a rare opportunity to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. The park's varied topography, comprising deciduous forests, grassy woodlands, and thorny scrub, hosts an impressive biodiversity. It is home to elephants, gaurs, leopards, chitals, and over 350 species of birds, offering a rich and immersive wildlife experience. The safari rides are a highlight, providing an exhilarating venture into the wild. Expert guides enhance the experience by sharing insightful information about the flora and fauna. The thrill of spotting animals in their natural surroundings is an unforgettable experience, appealing to wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike. Bandipur's commitment to conservation is evident in its well-maintained environment and the thriving wildlife population. The park's efforts in preserving and nurturing the ecosystem are commendable, making it a significant contributor to India's wildlife conservation endeavors. However, the park's popularity can sometimes lead to crowding, especially during peak seasons, which may impact the tranquil experience of the wilderness. Additionally, while the safari rides are fantastic for wildlife spotting, sightings of elusive animals like tigers can never be guaranteed. Overall, Bandipur National Park stands as a testament to India's rich natural heritage, offering an enchanting escape into the wild. Its scenic beauty, rich biodiversity, and well-organized safaris make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Wonderful wild-life sanctuary. Need to enjoy the sanctuary with an open mind - without expectations of the tiger sightings. And you'll be pleasantly surprised at the variety of flora fauna present around the park. The safari drivers put in a lot of effort to try for tiger sightings, we were lucky to sight one.

(Translated by Google) Wildlife can be seen up close, and the safari drive here is very good, a place to see, many animals can be seen in a natural way, overall a nice fun place, a must see place. The way the elephants are fed in the evening is very good and they enjoy the baby very much. The ride through Bandipur - Ooty road is pure bliss! Despite the weather, the path was smooth. We did spot several herds of deers and elephants, so many peacocks/peahens and a variety of birds. A must drive through if you love cruising with your bike! 🤩

One of the best maintained reserves in South India that I have visited. It is not very commercial and not much crowded. Depending on our luck itself we can spot animals on the road sides. Safari booking is very easy and pricing is also reasonable as per jeep/van. Early morning safari is good the climate will be pleasant.

We explored this place en route to Ooty from Mysore. Before entering this place, you can see a lot of Sunflower gardens on both the sides of road which is really a beautiful sight. The whole national park area is lush green with serpentine roads. The road quality is very good and its all clean. We were crossing this place in morning time, so we did find some challenges in getting some veg restaurant to have breakfast. So if you are a vegetarian and going with family better take care of this fact. Until you are opting to take Safari (which is again through a National Park governed point only), vehicles are not allowed to stop in the park. Doing photography by coming out of your vehicle or stopping for picnic and all can get you in trouble with fine. As far as animal sighting is concerned, you can very easily spot deer, monkeys and elephants. To spot tiger you should plan an early morning visit that too confirm with locals for Tiger migration (as sometimes they move far inward into the forest and not easily visible from roads). But if you are planning a trip by road to reach Ooty with your own vehicle, do not miss to take this route. It will make your experience memorable.

It is located in chamaraja nagar district of Karnataka state with an area of 875 sq kms. The experience of being in a forest was wonderful. The greenery was less and few animals like bison, monkey, wild boar, spotted deer, elephant, langur, peacock, samba was all that we saw. Many guests also saw a leopard Needed to be lucky to view tigers...

So green , so calm, still good forests are there - Bandipur is an example. 173 tigers are still there, thousands of elephants and bisons, millions of spotted deers, more than 200 species of birds! Cheetahs are many , can be seen around the cottages of the forest dept. Though not modern, simple but clean accomodation worth every rupee of 3000 for a room. Simple food also is provided in the mess. Very well maintained

We saw only elephants, best time to visit is in June or Sep when there is ample water and not too rainy. During dry seasons animals tend to migrate towards south west.

If you are interested in Safari , try to book online, get the early hours slot for Safari, seeing wild animals is totally depends on luck. It's advisable board an open vehicle for Safari. Open vehicle are quite expensive. For photography enthusiastic 300mm-600mm lens is best option to carry along with one wide angle lens. 70-300mm lens is also good to take some good shots of animal

3 day ago I chose safari in an 8 person capacity jeep, it is an unforgettable experience, the driver knows all the places where you can find the animals and it took 2.5 hours to cover the huge amount to the jungle area, it is better to keep very well and the pictures speak loudly, a lot of activities keep all the animals away and annoy them . Choose the best after the afternoon safari This time you can find more animals.

Its one the best forest reserves to visit. Roads are really smooth hence, drive experience is really awesome. We have already visited thrice. Good time to visit would be September to November. View of Deer and elephants by roadside is really exiting for kids. I saw Bison as well. 🦚 Peacocks monkeys apes are also available roadside. Its truly a mind refreshing place.

Thrilling ride through dense forest which is open from 6am to 9pm from Mysore to Wayanad. Elephants and deers are visible frequently on the sides which may be on the road as it gets darker. Recommend to avoid this route post 7pm. Wildlife safaris are must go.

My favourite destination for wildlife.... Peaceful place inside wild ... A place where once can feel the woods of Karnataka at its best. The morning misty sunrise during the end of the year is a bliss. Spotted deers, elephants, leopards, tigers, sloth bears roaming around our room stay adds more thrill to the place.

We did not see any carnivores animal. However, deer, elephants, and gaurs are sighted on a daily basis. Based on local information, leopard sighting is common on the road towards Mandala village. We could only spot deer. One can also spot deer, elephants, and boars on the national highway itself.

Best of its kind! Bandipur National Park, an 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, is known for its small population of tigers. Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species. Best part of it is you can get a chance to see Peacocks, peahens, deers, reindeers, elephants, snakes, wild pigs, tigers etc., while driving through the range. One must be aware of the timings though as they won't allow during nights & there be strict checking. PLASTIC IS NOT ALLOWED by any means.

Spotted elephants, peacocks, peahens and deers on the roadside. We tried morning Bandipur tiger Safari but could spot tigers. Need to care for animals crossing the road especially when you are driving by own vehicle so that animals are not harmed. Please don't get disappointed if you don't see any Tiger though this is tiger reserve and not a zoo. We also didn't see any Tiger in 2 days.

One of the most famous national parks in south India, Bandipur is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. It was once the the private hunting ground of the maharajas of Mysore. This substantial 870 square kilometer park receives a lot of tourists as its located on the way to Ooty from Mysore. It does have tigers, although they're rarely sighted. You're more likely to see deer and monkeys on safari (and maybe elephants if you're lucky).

Most popular 🐅 Reserve in Karnataka. Its a huge tiger reserve with a spam of more than 850 square kilometer and surrounded by 3 more tiger reserve like Mudumalai, Nagarhol and Wayanad. Presently more tha 170 tigers can be seen in this jungle according to the guide we have interacted. Its about 80 km from Mysore and 50 km from Chamrajnagar. While coming back from Ooty , We visited in Dec 9th 2020 and had a beautiful safari with gypsy. We saw 3 tigers, so many elephants, wild bull, spotted dears, Royal stag and other animals. Safari cost is Rs. 4000 for 5 person including entry fee. Minimum time of safari is fixed for 90 min. Timing is 2.30, 3.30 and 4.30 during winter. If you want to carry Camera 📸 then it is chargable. mobile phones not allowed but you can carry. You may carry your own water bottle but not eatables. You can stay in jungle resorts near by and the costs are 5k to 8 k per person including breakfast lunch and dinner. There is a govt resorts also which can give you add-on services.

Nested amidst the wilderness of the Western Ghats, Bandipur National Park is the most engrossing weekend getaway destination. Located at the picturesque location on the Nilgiris, this place is among the famous Mysore tourist places and a heaven for all nature and wildlife lovers. Together with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in the North, it creates the India's biggest biosphere reserve popularly known as the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'. Resting in the nature and feeling its untouched beauty while you are at this splendid location will feel nothing less than a heavenly experience.

Safari was very smooth because of roads. There was a queue for booking safari tickets and that is not managed properly as there were no online bookings available at that time. When you reach to the ticket counter they asked people to come after 1-2 hours. Except booking part everything was good.

Had a great experience with family. Went for a evening Safari and able to see multiple sitings but missed to see Tigers. But it's always luck to see big cats on your first trip. Have been couple of times and uts always good to have early morning or late evening safari which is good to have a feel of Safari and there is high chances to see Big Cat sitings and other wild animals. Try to get a stay in Government provided cottages which is within the National Park and the night Ambiance will be the best to enjoy the calmness as well as sound from animals / birds and Incects.

Excellent Safari at Bandipur. The overall experience was truly amazing. Don’t plan for any other safari in any other tiger reserve. The timings for bus Safari start from 2.30. Offline tickets available if u reach early. They have buses every 1 hour, last one till 5. So plan well in advance. The folks were knowledgable and were informative about sightings. They accept cash or card of 650 per person.

All the journey on this way is beautiful, you cover bandipura which is in karnataka and mudhumalai in tamilnadu state. I personally liked mudhumalai part of it well maintained and much greenish. We can definitely see deer and elephant almost throughout tbe day. Other wild animals will be rare to see

Climate is good ..Bandipur drive is awesome ..but safari is worst .. dont just waste your money ... about 45 mins of safari time , u notice hardly any wild animals ..instead just drive through Bandipur road and you spot some animals ..

We went through the forest while traveling to Ooty from Mysore. Fortunate enough to see a herd of elephants from close quarters at night. It was a memorable experience. Also we were able to see some peacocks and herd of deer 🦌 as well. It was a day filled with lucky encounters.

Bandipur safari is always well rewarding in terms of wildlife sighting. Bandipur National Park is one of the beautiful wildlife sanctuary located in south India with variety of flora and fauna. Bandipur safari offers maximum tiger sightings when compared to other wildlife sanctuaries in south India. Bandipur National park is also rich in other fauna including leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, herbivores like elephants, gaurs, barking deer, and rare birds like vultures. Both Van safari and jeep safari are available at Bandipur.Van safari is organized every morning and evening at Bandipur National park. There are five vans in total each van can accommodate 20 people. Tickets are issued at the Bandipur Safari reception centre office located about 2 km before the Bandipur Tiger reserve Gate. It is advisable to reach the safari office at least 30 mins before the safari timing especially during holidays and weekends.

The place is a disappointment if you dream of seeing a tiger in the safari.. If you enjoy the drive or ride.. Then you might get lucky like us to spot.. Elephants and rare money species jus while on the drive through mudhumalai and Bandhipur forest.. After sunset. The way in and out is a little scary..

Bandipur National Park is one of the beautiful and better-managed national parks of India. Located at Western Ghats near Chamaraja nagar in Karnataka connects between the Mysore-Ooty highway. Jungle Lodges and Resorts itself operates jeep safaris. Mini-bus safaris will be operated by the Forest Department. Mansoon season is best to visit, after Sunderbans it is the only forest in India to have much tiger species.

Amazing jungle with some good natural views. We can watch spotted deers, langoors, monkeys n if you are lucky, an elephant too. I wasn't that lucky. But loved the walk through the jungle.

Bandipur has always been a special place to me. I first visited in 2014 on my new bike, full of zeal and enthusiasm to ride across Karnataka. I was left mesmerized that evening itself. Since then I have crossed the Bandipur tiger reserve numerous times and each time have enjoyed my time here. Feel the fresh wind, catch some deers, if you are lucky spot a wild elephant. But rest assured you will love the forest for as it is.

Sight seeing depends on your luck 😂 250minimum charge for going in reserve to see animals...it was my bad luck that i saw only elephant, peacock, crane, deer, woodpecker, langoor monkeys 😂, their are lots of humbs(telling if anyone have problem with that then) while going in forest in bus (Safari) and for personal safari you have to book it at 4500 and , you can wait at ticket counter..have food (your own carried food) nothing available in waffers... it's peace of mind that animals still enjoying their Life even with ample amount of disturbance by human beings

Had been here for a afternoon gypsy Safari (2:30 - 4:30 PM) in the month of February. The safari in itself was a wonderful experience. Sitting in a gypsy and taking a ride along the trails surrounded by untouched nature was a delight! We came across quite a few animals : Deers Barking Deer, Herds of Elephants, Few Exotic Birds & many more which I cannot recall. Unfortunately the highlight of the trip which would have been spotting a tiger was missing. We did spot the footmarks though, which itself was exhilarating. The guides were helpful and did answer our queries. Overall a wonderful experience, do go for it when in Mysore :) Adding few more details : Cost : 3,500/- for Gypsy Safari type : Open Gypsy (Seating Capacity : 4 no's) Mode of Booking : Online (Advisable, to avoid queue & also as limited slots available )

Great experience of driving through the forest. Very dense forest.Smooth road running through with forest on both sides. Could able to spot herd of Deers, Elephants, peacocks, Monkeys while travelling during the afternoon. It is closed for traffic from 9 pm to 6 am. Stopping on the road during drive or honking is prohibited. Proper caution and nvigation signages are very useful.

If you are a rider you can't miss this place. You will love it. This weather offers you a different vibe. And the breeze hits you different. Best time to ride is at #6am. Reach the Bandipur road by 5.45am n wait there for the gate to be opened. Please avoid plastic. You will be fined too.

Bandipur National Park is good enough just to drive through when you are going from Bangalore to Ooty. There is no need to hire a safari. Safari is just a value reduction. Whatever animals you see from Safari, same you can see from your own car when you pass Bandipur National Park. Safari is just inconvenient, hot, crowded and time taking. Forest is beautiful. There is greenery all around. Seeing deers is just a certainty. Seeing peacock, buffalo, elephants, monkeys etc. is very probably. Seeing tigers is a rare event no matter you drive through or take a safari.

  • 4/5 Niranjan N. 8 months ago on Google
Recommended to take the early morning 1st slot ride, but it's difficult to get the jeep. Only lucky members get to spot the tiger. I tried a couple of times in the 1st slot but no luck.

  • 5/5 Anusha H. 5 months ago on Google
Very calm and beautiful greenery. Just drive with nature and birds chirping. Entry from Mysore start at 6 clock. Please do not stop the vehicle in between of the forest area especially on night time as have seen a group of elephants trespassing around 8 clock night and awaited around 30 mins. Do not honk or playing loud music till you exit the first premises. There are lot of Deers , monkeys. Do not expect all the time you can see animals while travelling. The only one should, road should be maintain properly and cut the extra length of leaves, so that all travellers can see the passing animals. Avoid speed limits as you don’t get to know the which wild animals are crossing the road also you’ll be missing the nature as well in case any wild animals will be there. Do not throw plastics and do not feed monkeys too.
