Decent sized perimeter spaced zoo. Not as many animals as I thought but fun none the less. If you buy your tickets online; before heading over you save about $2 per ticket. The entry experience was quick, fast, and easy. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was extremely friendly. They have a zipping lining excursion and trolley. It’s about 30 minutes from east Orlando. Snacks are priced well. They have a park area for the kids to play as well as a splash pad. Very clean and easy to navigate. Many of the animals were sleeping but I’m sure the heat played a role in that. Please if you are visiting in the summer time come prepared for the sun. Bring your sunscreen , bug repellent, head coverings, plenty of water and portable fans if you have.

Great wee zoo, not the biggest but packed with plenty to see. All the animals on show looked healthy and happy with clean and spacious cages. A nice touch was all the fans in the cages keeping the animals cool, which they were taking full advantage of. There are boardwalks all around the zoo, so no muddy or wet feet. They were replacing lots of the wooden fencing when we were there so it will look really nice when finished. There is a cafe and food booths in the zoo for food and drink. There are changing rooms available for the kids who get wet playing in the water fountains. Toilets are available. There is air conditioning in the gift shop, bear viewing room and exhibition centre. Lots of free parking outside the zoo. The highlight was getting to feed the giraffes ($5) for 3 lettuce leaves. There is also the chance to feed the animals in the petting zoo but this does run out quick so best do that early in the day.

My family has an annual pass here to the zoo, we have for the past few years. As a parent of a 6 & 3 year old, this place is wonderful and a great bang for the buck. The Sanford Zoo itself is not very large in comparison to other Zoo's but it does not takeaway from the awesomeness of it. They have enough exotic animals as well if you are wanting to see such animals. Giraffes, cheetahs, rhinos, black bear, and a few other cool ones. If anything, we like that it is small and quaint. They have a kids splash pad, which is a great thing in the summers. Best of all, they sell beer and wine at a few stalls!

We had such a blast there. It definitely is a lot bigger than I thought. They are very military friendly and give a discount. Driving to the front may seem a little tricky. When you drive up you will see a train station for their adorable little train for the kids, that's where you park and go past the station and you will see the front entrance. Once inside you will be able to explore everywhere definitely take your time and there are many animals to see. The staff was super friendly and they are everywhere to help. You get to feed a giraffe which our son absolutely loved. Definitely a place we will go again.

4.5! 😉 Don't look for larger mammals at this zoo. No 🐘 Elephant. No 🦁 Tiger. No 🦓 Zebra. Check the website to be sure it's what you are expecting. However, it is still great for small kids and adults like me that ❤️ Zoo Exhibits either way! Otherwise, the park was BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED, clean, and organized! The Herpetarium was a HUGE HIT with my group! We were able to get some great photos! Unfortunately, the 🦏 Rhinoceros on the roster was not available when we were there. 🥹 ❗️I feel like this kind of information should be provided before our money is accepted. ENJOY A FEW OF THE 📸 WE TOOK! 🥰

The Asian Lantern Festival is an experience that is truly out of this world! My recent visit to this event left me in awe and thoroughly entertained. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this festival is something special. The vibrant lantern displays and the magical atmosphere created an enchanting environment that captivated us from start to finish. My family and I had an amazing time exploring the festival. The intricate lantern designs and the artistry behind them were truly impressive. It's a visual feast that you won't find anywhere else. What sets this festival apart is the unique and otherworldly experience it offers. It's a journey into a different realm, and I felt transported to a place of wonder and delight. I highly recommend the Asian Lantern Festival to anyone seeking a one-of-a-kind experience that's truly extraordinary. It's a testament to creativity and artistry that will leave you with memories to cherish. Thank you to the organizers for bringing this incredible event to life!

Weekday visit was great. Not too many other guests. Although there were a number of school classes attending, the zoo staff kept them to one side of the paths. It was also interesting to listen in on the information they shared with the students regarding the various animals. Was delighted to see not only animals to view, but encounter experiences, a water splash for kids and playground area. We didn't dine at the zoo, but will add information after our next visit. The Asian Lantern Festival is currently taking place, so the displays were erected. It was a surprise to see how colorful they are before being lit. Can't wait to see them at night! It's easy to purchase tickets online, thus avoiding any lines at the ticket booth.

Honestly we did not know what to expect coming here for the afternoon. Buying tickets in advance, like other reviewers have said, is a fantastic idea. It makes the check in to the zoo quick and painless. Parking is free and easy! So many spots and not far to walk to the entrance. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Just walking through the gardens and zoo was peaceful and relaxing. The zoo itself is great for the cost of admission. We even saw some of the snakes being fed, which was pretty cool! A lot of the bigger animals (bears, cheetahs, etc.) seemed to be taking it easy, so not sure if they are more active in the morning and that would be a better time to go? The facility was clean, no trash noted along the walking paths, and there is a splash zone for the kids, so bring swimwear or a change of clothes. Souvenirs (yes, because the kids will ask) were fairly priced for a facility that works on conservation; I think a toddler shirt was $22. Overall a great experience and we will definitely return when the little one is older, as I know he will love doing that zip line!

Small zoo but nice seems like they are expanding most animals are close enough to get a great look at. There is a tree top obstacle, though it doesn't run through the zoo. There is also a train. Walking around is very easy they even have a splash park to play in. All in all it was a great zoo and we really enjoyed it. Purchase your tickets online you will save a few dollars, although it really was not expensive either way.

Zoo was cool, but I left so sad the animals just really looked so unhappy. There was even one bird who had a metal ring on his foot and he just kept chewing on it. So I mean it was cool to see many cool animals but not like that, I had also noticed that the bald eagles had there wings clipped which I'm not sure but I believe is not legal and honestly that's sad to do to any bird, birds love to fly and now they can never do that again. I know it sounds weird to say animals have emotions but they do and I wouldn't want to be in a cage for the rest of my life and especially not in those ones. But here's some pictures.

What a nice small zoo!! It's good place for taking kid to explore natural. Also, it's good for dating day trip as well. Not too big to be tired walking. Every animals are well being here. They will have train available in mid summer. We bought annual pass tickets so definitely, we're going back.

Of Course we All love the Zoo we just wished for Longer hours open! Fair prices except the Gift shop could use guest recommendations! Spent 60.00 left feeling pushed out of the Gift shop. No Happiness there way to expensive! Bring wash cloth hand towel especially gift shop don't carry these items so much needed! Very Hot sweat so bring those items & lots of water! More people that work there need to make the guest's feel welcome! Very pretty loads of upgrades since opening 1975 originally 1923😁 Best was the Snakes but no one to guide or talk about these snakes. If you want to see a black mamba very interesting. Enjoy stay safe.

It was very hot, so it might not have been the best day for a visit but the exhibits available were cool. I liked the hippo. Many of the other animals took cover from the heat. My granddaughter got to feed the giraffe. The vegetation was beautiful with bamboo, banana trees, herbs, and flowers. The staff was very helpful and were located at various spots around the zoo to share information on the exhibits.

The zoom was small, but fun! The lack of crowds made viewing the animals super easy. We got to feed a giraffe, and pet an alpaca. The facility is really clean and everyone is very nice. We even got to speak with a few zookeepers about the enrichment activities for the animals. It was a great way to spend the day.

The admission is pretty high for such a small zoo and quite a few of the exhibits were empty on 2/19. But it was a nice walk through the lush scenery and gardens. There are a couple of food vendors and a gift shop, and zip lines with suspension bridges for an extra fee.

We love the Central Florida Zoo! This is a very walkable, family friendly zoo. The trails are easy to navigate and a good portion are shaded or partially shaded. Pro Tips: - bring a change of clothes/towel so the kids can play in the splash pad! It’s a favorite of our kids and they serve cold drinks feet from the water so kids and adults can both enjoy! - you can feed the giraffes, if they are hungry from 10a-3p for $5 for 3 pieces of lettuce. This is a great photo op! - bring closed toe shoes if your kids want to do the climbing/zip line out front of the zoo. *height restrictions apply -Look into the annual passes and save money for multiple trips and at many different zoos/aquariums/botanical gardens across the nation.

Really nice zoo, the whole zoo took about 90 minutes to 2 hours to explore and that was taking it at a nice pace. They have a lot of birds that are relatively close to where you can stand, with a few of them not even fully enclosed so you can look at them without a fence in the way. During the morning the animals were relatively active. They have a splash park for children. The entire zoo is shaded, with tree cover absolutely everywhere. The entire walkway is wooden paths which is nice. They have a nice little botanical garden area. They have a wide selection of animals like black bears and cougars and cheetahs and monkeys, rhinos. A few things that the Jacksonville zoo doesn't have. There are plenty of benches situated all over so if you do get exhausted you can have a place to sit. Water costs $2 Gatorade cost $4 and any canned drinks from the vending machine cost $4. I won't say to bring your own water and drinks but probably a good idea. The snack bar is relatively fairly priced, they also have alcohol in case you want to drink when you get here that is 9 to 10 bucks per drink. All in all it was a good experience and I would recommend heading over here if you are in the area. Tickets only cost about 20 bucks, 40 if you get the souvenir cup and a meal. A burger cost about 12 bucks and comes with fries.

We had a great time, even with the impacted operations. Going in the morning, social distancing was no problem at all and we often found ourselves alone with many animals. It's definitely not a huge zoo, especially compared to Tampa, Brevard, or Miami, but given the convenience, it has enough to see for the cost. Giraffes, cheetahs, a black bear, a Indian Rhino, on top of many smaller animals. It could use more, but with support, more could happen. It is in a great location, just off of I-4, and has beautiful trees and gardens throughout. Shade is not a problem and a very solid splash pad is available for kids. If you go, don't miss the small insect zoo just before the zoo entrance. They had a good amount of bugs, frogs, and other reptiles inside and it's air conditioned. During our time, we had no issues going inside any buildings and were at points the only group inside. The zoo is beautiful, well kept, and promising. A couple hours is enough to see it all with time to spare. Overall, as long as you don't set too high of expectations, you'll have a great time!

We really had a great time, first time I've gone to a zoo in years. I remember this zoo from when I was a kid and it went by a different name. It's great to see the larger living areas for the animals and an interesting selection reptile, bird, fuzzies and the big guys to see. I've included some pictures of just a few animals plus there's a kid's splash water play area, a children's zoo where they can feed some animals, just a great experience all the way around. The zoo even has the old machines that mold the hard wax toys while you wait for 3 bucks. A nice fun family day. Oh and we had lunch at the Sunny's BBQ that's in the zoo it was very good.

Asian Lantern Festival was absolutely fantastic! All ages can enjoy the evening at the festival. It took us about an hour to go through. It's a one way through the festival so once you pass an exhibit you won't loop back around. FYI all tickets once purchased are non-refundable & unable to transfer.

I love the variety of animals they have. They have a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians. The giraffe feeding was a very special encounter for my granddaughter. She also loved feeding the animals in their petting zoo.. I love all of the African animals they have like the giraffes, the hippopotamuses and the elephant. They have a wide variety of monkeys and birds as well.i also loved the huge tortoise and the huge alligator. I'd definitely recommend for a funfilled day at a reasonable price.

Cool Zoo! Live very close to this and never took the opportunity to visit. Went on a Monday, wasn't too busy. Parking lot is a little busted but the actual Zoo was super clean and the exhibits were wonderful. Snake and Reptiles, Gators, Monkeys, Macaws, Bears, Big Cats and even Giraffe feeding. It's definitely an experience to see an animal as large as a Giraffe lean over a fence and take lettuce out of your hand. Would definitely go again to take a friend or family member.

Took my 84 year old mother to the zoo last evening to experience the Asian Lantern Light Festival. We had the best time oohing and awing at the spectacular light display. We meandered down the lantern path to see each lighted installation, one more beautiful than the next. The zoo had food stands available if patrons wished to eat something. We purchased our tickets ahead of time on line.

I love this zoo. It’s not huge, perfect for a day with small kids, and there are a lot of board walks so you can’t lose your kids easily. There’s plenty of shade so you don’t get too hot and there’s a kids water play area. We went twice this year and loved it both times. We loved it so much that we made a family activity out of it and brought the whole clan and our toddler niece. She loved seeing the animals so close and feeding the giraffes and goats.

So didn't really get to go for the zoo itself but the Asian lantern festival that was being held. The lights were something to see. They were amazing! Even in the dark you can tell the actual zoo itself seems nice and decently sized though

I thought the zoo was decent. The animal cages were kind of small. They amphibian and reptile exhibit was my favorite. They displayed many different reptiles that I thought were very unique. I liked that there was a llama and goats that visitors were allowed to touch. They were very cute. The giraffe exhibit was cool too since the giraffes got really close to visitors but as I said I wish the enclosures were a little bigger. I felt bad for the animals walking through each exhibit.

I love the zoo and botanical garden. I took my Grandson there, and he really enjoyed it. There are wooden walkways through the entire park, making it accessible for everyone. You are provided with a map at the entrance, and there are signs posted to guide you through the exhibits. I like the fact that everything is scaled to a child's eye view, so they can enjoy the exhibits all by themselves. There are plenty of areas to sit, rest, picnic, play, or buy food. There is a $2 discount if you buy tickets online. Seniors are $18.95, ages 3-12 are $16.95. Next visit,I will buy my tickets in advance.

It's a smaller zoo, but one of the most natural looking zoos I've ever been to. They have a nice selection of animals (from giraffes and cheetahs to crocodiles and macaws) and a few that I had not seen at any other zoo (Indian rhino and fossa). The ground is mostly wood instead of hard cement and between exhibits are tons of trees and natural-looking land (like a marsh or forest). You can do the whole zoo in about 2 hours. The staff is SO nice. The keepers are excited to chat with you about the animals and everyone else is just super friendly. It's a little pricey for a zoo of that size and their map isn't the easiest to read (we got turned around a few times).

Very beautiful small zoo. The exhibit and habitats are not very big for the animals to move. I would recommend utilizing the space leading into the zoo as well. But all the workers seemed in good spirits and it was a pleasure to visit.

Wonderful Place. Not the Brookfield zoo for sure but still a great place. Like the leopard, bears, giraffes, goats and other animals. The zip-line network is huge. It goes over lakes and beautiful scenic structures. Kids love to feed the goats and giraffes. Food is nice. There are two concessions. The burger, hot dog, sandwich place and of-course the softie and ice-cream parlor. There is ample parking available. Overall a great experience. Yearly pass is worth the money. You save money right the 2nd visit onwards.

Absolutely beautiful and wonderful!! It's so peaceful and serene and just absolutely wonderful here!! There is a lot of construction going on right now, so some of the things are closed. And also, the reptile part is closed as well. But other than that, I really and truly enjoyed it. Especially the giraffes.

It's the smallest Zoo I've been too. It's doesn't have many animals. We wanted to see Lions, Tigers, Elephants and they don't have them. At least we saw some interesting animals. The food court is small and doesn't offer much. Also it doesn't have any picture friendly spots. For the price I paid it wasn't worth going. I don't recommend it.

Cute zoo, very small though. It's a nice place to spend an afternoon. However, we decided to purchased the annual pass last year even though we had never been there and we got bored with the place pretty quickly. It can easily be covered in about 2 hours. And there are no animal shows or activities, so after the first few times we went the kids were kinda over it. I think a little more activity, like animal shows could liven it up too. I also found some of the staff to be less than friendly, some of them just seemed annoyed.Overall, a nice place but it can get a little boring if you choose to buy the annual pass.

Take a walk through the "jungle" and see all these amazing animals, birds, reptiles, and spiders. See a bear or two, a bald eagle, and otters. Take a ride on a zip line and have a bird's eye view of the zoo. You can feed a giraffe if you so desire, reasonably priced. If you have small kids there is a little play area, so they can burn off some steam. There is an opportunity to find snacks along the way. Don't miss out on an opportunity to see the Asian Luminary along your journey.

A decent zoo experience makes for a nice getaway from the downtown lifestyle. Just north of Orlando, tucked away in Sanford is thus quaint zoo. If you are looking to get out in nature this makes for a fun stop. Although they say botanical gardens there is no specific botanical section, more so along the paths there are little area with such. On our experience all the animals seemed a bit sad, where we almost felt bad for them. Nevertheless the staff is friendly and you can knock out the park seeing all the animals in about an hour. Prices are set for the whole day, whether you come an hour before it closes or when they open, it's all the same. Family friendly so If you have kids be sure to bring them by.

We went for the Asian lantern show on Sunday night. The zoo was closed by 4 pm. Our tickets said 8 pm but we went inside around 7:40. The show is different from other lantern show, no moving parts. I think the ambiance was great. Setting were attractive. One live guitar player added some points. My favorite part was to play the drums (at two locations). We cycled the place twice and it was fun (also saw two giraffes from not too far distance).

We bought our tickets online months ago, a little disappointed. We arrived at 9am when it is supposed to open. We were arriving as some employees looked like they were arriving. The parking confused me, entering the zoo confused me as well. Things were marked, but not clearly enough. Some animals weren't in their enclosures yet because staff members were cleaning enclosures out. And the whole African section of the zoo was closed for renovations. Which that is a good bit of the zoo. The reptile house was air conditioned which gave you a break from the humidity, but some enclosures at the corners were hard to see into and some things weren't in the correct exhibit. Restrooms were clean. Gift shop is small, but everything is reasonably priced. Took us about an hour to walk through the entire zoo.

Had a really nice time here at the Central Florida zoo! Came here early on a weekend. We bought our tickets online and they came with a meal voucher so everything went really smoothly. I'm from Miami and not many zoos can even compete with ours. this zoo was way smaller in comparison but it was still nice and had an interesting variety of animals. The weather was nice. The grounds were well maintained and the animals were all very active and healthy looking. At night in the evening this time of year they have paper lantern festival events going on. Would be a fun place to take friends or family.

We arrived at open. I don't recommend arriving at open as they do not have all the exhibits up and going until closer to 930. We enjoyed seeing the many different animals, and liked how close you could get to viewing the rhino, however, felt a few others like the cheetah could have been in larger enclosures

We love this small zoo. The best things about this zoo are the feeding areas, especially the birds and the giraffe, the closeness of the animals, and the variety. I'm impressed that a zoo this small has so many large animals, but it doesn't feel that they are in too tiny cages. Lions, Tigers, bears, hippos, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, gorillas and orangutans...seriously, larger zoos don't have that many. I liked the capybaras. It's pricey, but don't let the size fool you. You'll get your money's worth.

We went on family night it was a blast. I have a wheelchair-bound child nonverbal but he thoroughly enjoyed hearing all the kids and just being around the music and everything. It wasn't too crowded we still masked most of the areas but it wasn't terribly crowded people were using common sense also. A great music player from Trinidad was there!

Overall this zoo is pretty great! We went with 3 families total and the ages ranged from 1 to 10 and they all had a great time! The zoo was clean in general but the bathroom in front of the BBQ place did not have AC and was not the best. The kids loved the animals, the play ground and the food! I did have one unpleasant experience with a staff member being rude but I’m hoping it was a one time thing.

Such a fun place! It was great family time and my 16 month old absolutely loved it. I wish this place would get more local sponsorship and big business contributions as it needs some serious repairs and new wood on the walkways in some areas being a non profit they can't do it on their own. Would love to see some loved poured into this well deserving place.

Took our 18 month old son here for his first zoo experience. He loved it, we did too. It's a smaller zoo that can be walked comfortably in about an hour or two and lots of things to see. Beautiful trails even when you're between the animal shelters. Reasonably priced for a fun family afternoon. He really enjoyed feeding the giraffes, definitely the highlight of the day!

There were parts under construction and the eagles had to be left inside because of pressure washing. The zookeeper were very friendly and informative. One even fed the cougar near the fence so we could get a good picture. Then a video of him eating. Very nice!

Great Zoo! I really enjoyed that all of the animals were awake and alert. They were engaging and all looked extremely healthy. They had a very nice reptile exhibit, with some snakes I hadn't seen at other zoos. The Asian Lantern Festival was great as well

Went to the Chinese lantern festival show and it was amazing! Better that 2019's display, tis year there was more movement and some of the larger ones had a color shift component. I look forward to next year's event.

I will definitely be coming back next time. There’s fun things for your kids to enjoy so bring them along my daughter loved it.

I have been going to this zoo my entire life! I love this zoo, it's always updating and accommodating for the animals and plants they have, as well as they have an amazing Asian Lantern Festival! Who knew? I had never been to their lantern festival before and not only were these lanterns absolutely incredible but the whole setup for the festival was really planned out! They have it as a route you go one way in and one way out. You can walk around as many times as you like! A lot of the lanterns moved and twinkled beautifully ! I would highly recommend the lantern festival next year. On our way out, an employee said the lanterns and the festival will be different next year so now I can't wait! 新年快乐!🏮

The Asian Lantern Festival was absolutely incredible. Such a unique and magical experience. It's clearly a huge undertaking for the CFZ to put this on each year. Listening to the comments of the visitors was great-- it is very appreciated by everyone who attends. We especially loved the live music. The two women playing the koto harp were wonderful and very kind to answer questions we had. We visited the zoo during the day-- animals are well cared for and the facility is easy to navigate. We loved the Amur leopard, Gaboon viper (all the snakes!), the cheetahs, and the giraffes. Small zoo, but you can still spend a good amount of time here with the animals. Crowds move fast.

We had a great time here, animals looked well loved and the gardens were beautiful. Impressed with the food, but note there are 2 different food areas, one with burgers/fries, etc and the other with just snacks/desserts. The burgers/dogs/fries exceeded our expectations! Will come back for sure!

Went on a Monday morning to chaperone a kindergarten field trip. The kids all had a great time. The staff was very friendly. Only gave a 4/5 due to it being on the smaller side of what we are used to. But still a nice zoo! Will be going back to do obstacle courses in the trees - various sizes/heights for different ages.

This is our 2nd visit to the Central FL zoo! It’s a nice zoo & it’s just the right size to finish without rushing! The splash pad was not open which really stinks because it was HOT! but my girls had a Good time anyhow! Feeding the giraffe was fun for them.

This is a very nice zoo. It is on the smaller side and a bit off the beaten path, which we really enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Some of the animals were not visible in their enclosures, but the giraffes and rhino were cool. Feeding the giraffes is great for an up close and personal experience!

The Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens had an event on a Friday evening that my girlfriend and I attended. I've never been to this zoo but it was great to see the various animals they have here. The giraffes and cheetahs were a first time for me to see and so close in person. The parking could be better, and many people take up more space than necessary because there are no defined spaces. The parking lot also has many pot holes that could be better filled. The train wasn't running on my visit but it would have been fun to take a ride on depending on the views. It was raining and someone got a flat tire. Sadly, only 1 employee seemed to care to do anything to assist so me and a few others helped the individual change their tire in the pouring rain. That being said, I'll probably go back to enjoy a little more time without getting rained out.

Today was my families first time at this zoo. The Botanical Garden was great and the animals were great as well. It was a nice hot day which is perfect for an outside outing. The only negative side to the zoo is they have keeper shows all around the zoo but they aren’t very specific about the location and duration of the show. Thankfully one of the staff members, Dawn assisted us with some facts about the enclosures we were interested in. We also took the train ride which was super cute and we all enjoyed it. Overall it was a great visit.

A party of 6 visited here for the first time today. We were underwhelmed. There were not a lot of animals out or in the exhibits. We walked through the zoo and visited all the the open exhibits in less than 2 hours. The botanicals were better than the zoo animals. There is only one restaurant, a dipping dots stand and a couple vending machines for refreshments. The zip line was slow. The couple staff we spoke with were nice. The splash pad and giraffe feeding are nice attractions for little ones. We do not plan to return and would not recommend. We had more fun at Wild Florida.

Beautiful place. Need more benches in shady spots for resting. Kids loved it but the heat kept animals inside (smart animals). Checker board in the rain was the best part kids said. Also snacks and drinks were crazy expensive!

I LOVED IT! Extremely worthwhile. Sadly it was extremely hot when we got there so some of the animals were taking refugee inside their habitats. Please remember to wear sunscreen! The best part was that I got the chance to feed the giraffe, this comes at an extra cost of 6 usd apart of the entry fee. We got an ice cream before leaving, soft serve that was really good.

Very nice, but the wild Africa section was closed due to renovations and that is the biggest section. However, there are so many things for the kids and family to do and see. Train ride is awesome, feeding birds, walking with kangaroos. The monkeys are very entertaining. They have an alligator snapping turtle, huge and prehistoric.

I love this Zoo - it is very clean and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Nice place to spend a day with a family and especially children. There is a nice place with tables and benches to have a lunch-break. It would be nice to have more benches around the Zoo in quieter areas to relax in a shadow little far from crowds. But overall - recommended!

This is such a little jewel of a place that you would not think to go but it’s nice for a couple of hours. I think that if you had kids, it would be a great place for them to runoff some energy. The animals are fun and seem to be well cared for, you can’t feed the domestic barnyard animals anymore so that’s sad but understandable you could get around pretty good if you needed to with a wheelchair. There’s lots of snack and drink places. There’s a huge picnic area if or you even enter the zoo and there’s a decent size splash pad for the smaller kiddos, it has a few picnic tables around, but the best part is the comfy chairs under the awning.

I purchased tickets to this event for yesterday. I ended up throwing out my back and was so upset that my family and I couldn't go. I gave them a call and replied to my ticket confirmation and asked if they could extend my tickets. Didn't think they would though. A short time later I received a call from a nice lady who was compassionate and kind. Told me they would allow us to come another day up until the display ends. I rescheduled to today with hopes my back would cooperate and was sent new tickets for today's show. How incredibly nice of them to allow a last minute reschedule. My husband , Mom and I had a Wonderful time. Thank you so much for being so accommodating 🙏.

Small quaint zoo. You can do the whole zoo in about 2 hours. Staff is friendly. Cages are small and not a lot of animals, but what they have they do well. The zoo camps they offer are some of the best I have seen. That is the main reason we have a pass.

I had my 8th birthday party at this Zoo, attended Zoo Day Camp and have been making memories here for the past several decades. It’s a small zoo- but it’s really a lovely afternoon out. There’s a wide array of animals. The staff seems knowledgeable and caring. I know they had to close down due to the pandemic - but read that they just recently reopened following CDC guidelines. I plan on going with my significant other soon for some much needed entertainment! The animals are simply precious- especially the monkeys!

The zoo is disappointing and small. For a metro area the size of Orlando, I would expect something much larger and better quality. The only thing nice about it was the water pad for the kids. But why pay so much for just the water pad? Not likely to go back.

I will start we the good. The place is big and seems to be well maintained. It has a little kiddies water play area and an obstacle looking challenge but that was closed. The day my family visited it was raining, the staff was ok but not very friendly or helpful. Now as for the animals it seems as if they were all in a retirement stage, they were either hiding, sleeping or lazing around. The only thing that wowed us was the Giraffe. They didn't have any elephants, tigers, lions...they have cougar, monkey, snakes, bear, some birds, Giraffe, Donkey and some other animals that didn't care to see us. Lol. Nice family outing but wouldn't repeat a visit.

What a great family fun time. Nice enclosures and knowledgeable staff. We had a great time feeding the giraffes and exploring the zoo. It was a good zoo for kids. You can spend all day or just a few hours and still have a great time. They have changing rooms and bathrooms centrally located by the splash pad and food is from Sonny's BBQ and we'll priced.

I love this zoo. It's not super big so if you're looking for something extravagant, it's not the place for you. But the experience I think is more personal BECAUSE it's not so big. The petting zoo part next to the giftshop is great. Andre the Llama was totally down to be pet and pose for picture. And the splash pad towards the end is a great way to cool off on a hot Florida day.

During summer quarantine there hasn't been many places I have felt comfortable going. I decided to purchase an annual family membership (awesome value) and check out the zoo. They have timed tickets, where you choose the time slot you go in to the zoo, and the website shows you how many tickets they have left for that slot. That last feature is nice because you can choose a slot with few people. Also if you go early there's not too much heat, and the splash pad is not too full. As for the animals you can probably walk the whole property in an hour, it's not a very large zoo. Highlights include the herpetarium (snake house), the black bears, giraffes, and rhino. The giraffe feeding is open (5$ cash or credit) . There's also a nice playground with plenty of hand sanitizer stations and clean restrooms, and snack booths. They also sell Sonny's BBQ near the splash pad.

Great family activity and with a toddler and grand parents. Outdoor zoo with a variety of animals. There are animal encounters and presentations throughout the day. In the summer there is a ok water area for the kids. Food... I recommend eating before, bringing snacks and planning to eat after. If your not expect hot dogs and chips. Of course like any Florida excursion there is access to beer, hard seltzer and wine. Open space areas where you can spread out to take off your mask. Plenty of rest areas to have a seat. Lastly with Covid I appreciated seeing workers wipe down the glass for animal exhibits but there was not hand sanitizers for public access so bring your own.

The zoo has friendly staff, plenty of animal enclosures to view. There's a train ride that goes throughout the zoo, a playground for your little one's to burn off some energy, and zip line course for adults and kids to enjoy.

Great homeschool family programs. And the most reasonable mask policy out of anywhere weve been lately. Fantastic zoo.

Took our granddaughter here and though we enjoyed it there aren't a lot of exhibits to see. Many animals were not viewable either. Her highlight was the splash pad.

  • 4/5 Robert T. 3 years ago on Google
Decent setup but most animals were not out, given it was about 55 degrees out and that's chilly for Florida so I kind of understood. Sonny's BBQ wasn't open. Much of their stuff closed for covid or slow season I'm not sure but we got to feed the giraffes, see many of the cats and get good pics so not too bad for a family. Splash pad closed.

Great place to take younger kids. Lots of animals to see and feed. Splash park and playground upon entrance. Recommend getting there early at opening while not crowded and leaving for lunch before nap time.

Small zoo that can be seen in 1.5 hours depending how fast you go through. Neat to see the animals though. Lots of cool flowers and plants throughout. The park has discounts available.

Mask safety was not enforced. Especially a problem in the inside area where people were taking their masks off and no staff was around to give them a talking to.

I remembered upon visiting why I have made a point of not supporting zoos, in general, for many years. There are two large cats at this zoo - an Amur Leopard and a cougar - who are both living in remarkably small enclosures. Both of these magnificent creatures were pacing in circles, over and over, incessantly, exhibiting what I came to find is called stereotypical behavior for confined wild animals, often seen in animals that would normally have a large natural roaming range, like these guys. The cougar was not only circling, but actually vocalizing, making little yelping cries much like a domestic cat in pain/distress. It was heart-breaking, and enough that I would not give this zoo another dime. Before writing this review I did a bit more research on the cats themselves, and in the case of the Amur leopard, there are only 200 in captivity. If that is the case, why is this beauty all alone, and in a tiny space? Couldn’t better environs be made for him, possibly elsewhere. Left feeling very sad. I would not recommend visiting this zoo, or exposing children to yet one more human abuse of the natural world. I have gotten much better information and a feeling of reverence for nature’s wonders by watching any of the nature films David Attenborough has narrated. Widely available on Netflix or any of the streaming services.

The zoo was super cute and there are a ton of close up experiences with animals, and giraffe feedings are still open with Covid. They have several big cats which was awesome, and many enclosures are very close up and personal, but I felt a lot of animal enclosures were a bit small and it was sad seeing the beaten path they pace/walk back and forth every day in their extremely limited space. This isn’t one of those big city zoos with tons of exhibits but they have a lot of great animals like bears, cheetahs, giraffes, and monkeys. If the animals aren’t awake the zoo is small enough to do a second lap and catch them once they do wake up, which is what we did for many of them. Overall a great experience especially for the price!

  • 1/5 Jennifer B. 3 years ago on Google
This was the worst!!! Zoo I have ever been too, to add the “botanical garden” was trash and looked like it hasn’t been cared for in over a year. Some of the exhibits you could not even see an animal, and that was the majority. The other exhibits that had animals was actually more depressing to see than anything. Before I say my next comment, let me make myself clear. I am all for the protection of endangered species and for caring and housing injured animals however...some of those animals there are straight miserable and straight stressed. For example, the leopard they had there was tirelessly pacing the exhibit, walk back and forth. Animals in cages tend to do that when stressed and unhappy. The animal was living in exhibit way to small for the animals own health. I was not worth $70 for our family. My kids pointed out how miserable the animals were. Now thats sad.

  • 3/5 Ashley A. 3 years ago on Google
My fiance and I went here today and though it was nice its so small. We were able to walk the whole zoo in about 2 hours. The greatest part was the feedings of the alpaca, lama, and goats. We also got the chance to feed a giraffe but the amount you feed was not worth how much it was. We did enjoy our time but wish there was more. I went to the zoo in Miami and that was HUGE!!

We called early to make sure they accept the AZA reciprocal pass for the last day of 2020. They told us they did. We wasted a 2+ hour drive because they would not accept it for the 2 hours they were open! Every other zoo we've been to hasn't had an issue here. This is really disappointing.

  • 1/5 Dale F. 3 years ago on Google
This is the only zoo in Florida that doesn't accept AZA reciprocal extension? Really??? Jacksonville Zoo, Lowry in Tampa, Brevard Zoo all had no issues. And guess what? All of those zoos are much better too...

As much as i want to support our local zoo i am always so underwhelmed by my visits. I know we are going through different times but this review includes visits prior to COVID. The barnyard buddies area is just sad with 6 goats, a llama, an alpaca, some chickens, and 2 donkeys. Thenfood was sold out by the time we got there. The rest of the zoo is also just sad. There is absolutely no education or engagement. We saw animals just pacing in small cages. This zoo maybe ok for toddlers but my 6 and 10 yr olds were not impressed. In conclusion at $47 for one adult and 2 children 3-12yrs old. I feel overpaid for my experience.

Very good experience for the kids and spend it with the family. It is a small zoo although it has a lot of land. I loved the splash pad so that the children can cool off after the walk. The only thing that would be missing in more shady areas for one to be able to take a break from the heat and sun. The rest was very good, everything clean and the animals very well cared for.

This is a nice place to walk and interact with the animals. We got into quite the conversation with one of the birds. 😊 The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I wish they were enforcing masking rules throughout the property. We felt we couldn't escape people who were holding their masks in their hands or wearing them below their nose so we cut our visit short but we're members so we'll try another day.

I admit it; growing up in Atlanta really spoiled me with a spectacular zoo. Then, while I raised my own children, The Little Zoo that Could in Gulf Shores, AL took up a special place in my heart. This is a great little zoo that is big on charm. I must commend the Reptile department, because the Reptile House is phenomenal! Very nice display. Cool exhibits for each animal, and a chance to feed a real giraffe! The Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a must-see for any visitors to Central Florida! Enjoy!

  • 1/5 Emily T. 3 years ago on Google
Go to Brevard, Go to Tampa, Go to any other zoo and actually ENJOY what you pay for..there is hardly any exhibits for the cost. Or Wild Florida is a wonderful place to go to see animals. There is no limits on crowds, so it is hard to even move around without bumping into another person. Employees need training on customer service too. Especially when they allow friends to walk around without facial masks when they are required to be worn by those 13+.

  • 5/5 Jade K. 3 years ago on Google
My family had such a wonderful time here! Everyone wore masks super respectful of space. We loved the splash pad for the kids to cool off at. The exhibits were clean and the playground was super fun with hand sanitizer stations!

I recently toured the Central Florida Zoo and was blown away by all of the great options they have available for special events, especially weddings. They have an outdoor area for ceremony and cocktail area with adorable market lights that are perfect for your special day, staged in front of a gazebo area. Chairs are provided by the venue for both ceremony and reception. The indoor reception area is a ball room with neutral colors that can be transformed into any theme. There are other ceremony locations around the park that can accommodate smaller group sizes. Jillian gave me the tour and is so great to work with. This is such a wonderful and unique location to get married and you have to check it out!

I wish I could’ve given them 5 stars but honestly 3 is pushing it. My 4yr old grandson had fun, only because they had a playground and a water pad. There were a lot of empty cages. The animals they did have... like a crow, I think could be seen at a pet store or just going for a walk. All except the 2 giraffes and 1 Rhino. They have a place to eat, sponsored by Sonny’s BBQ,and if you like BBQ or fried food it’s great, however, I do not eat either and there were no healthy choices. The food was also expensive. I was thinking of getting season passes, but after today I can tell you I will not waste my money. A side note... the llama at the kids zone, where you can feed the goats and llama, is very aggressive, almost dangerously aggressive. I would not let a child feed it. I wanted to enjoy this day and I am only disappointed.

Amazing place, we loved the animals and snake house. My personal favorite was a chameleon. Probably he loved my dress. Kids had great time, fountains brought a bog joy. If you going to the zoo, prepare for adventure.

  • 2/5 Ginger Be K. 3 years ago on Google
In my opinion, most of the animal exhibits were much too small for the animals. Especially the giraffes. I couldn't enjoy myself here because how sad and stressed the animals seen. Honestly, this zoo seems more like a money grab than actual place for the welfare of animals. I did give two stars because I did like their reptile exhibit. They did have a lots of beautiful and exotic snakes.

I typically do not post reviews about places; however, I felt that this review is warranted. My family and I were looking forward to visiting the Central Florida Zoo but instead, we got nothing but disappointment. It began at the ticket booth where I explained to the lady behind the counter that I was a member of Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a reciprocal that is listed on the Central Florida Zoo website. The lady acted as if she had no idea what I was talking about and didn’t bother giving us our ticket discount. Then I asked about purchasing a rhino encounter for my family and me. I was then told that they are “on a freeze” with the encounters but did not explain why. Nowhere on their website or Facebook page did it state that they were suspended. Needless to say, this really set the mood for the rest of the visit. Another significant issue were the COVID-19 guidelines. There were many people coming into the zoo, and it was extremely difficult to abide by the physical distancing rule due to this. There were also many people that did not have their masks on, and the employees did nothing to enforce these rules with the exception of the employee in the petting zoo. That employee was actively telling people to fix their masks. My family and I have been to many AZA accredited zoos across the country, and this was the worst we have ever seen. We do not recommend coming here. It’s not worth the time or the price.

  • 1/5 M B. 3 years ago on Google
We were told to leave this zoo because we did not want to wear a mask and that we "could give Covid to the animals". The animals were NOT wearing masks and if we can "give it to them" then we have no idea if the animals have covid or not, therefore putting US and everyone there at risk. If this is in fact the case as we were told, this zoo should be shut down and not operating until all animals have masks so that they are not putting the public at risk and endangering our lives.

Not a large zoo but still fun. Some of the more interesting exhibits are only visible from the train, which is a 10-15 minute ride that departs hourly. Prices are moderate and the value is good not great. Worthwhile for a few hours time for the kids or interested adults.

Nothing to see here. Below average local zoo. Especially in Central Florida where there is steep competition such as Disney's Animal Kingdom or Bishgarden who both offer animal Safaris.

  • 4/5 Liesl B. 2 years ago on Google
The atmosphere is nice, shady, and secluded; we love hanging out here. But animal variety is limited compared to most city zoos. If you live very close, it's worth it to get an annual zoo pass. However, their day ticket price is not cheap. I give four stars for local Floridians who can get a zoo pass, otherwise I wouldn't waste my money. If you're from up north and are used to huge, beautiful zoos with free admission, I say, welcome to Florida.

Fun time for the family, perfect to plan a day out with the little ones. Has a playground and splash area with many beautiful and interesting animals. Only negative is that I feel the habitats are not big enough for the animals.

Took my son for his 2nd birthday. The zoo was nice. Love how they have a playground for the kids to stop and play. Highly disappointed that they were not doing any shows (like the bird show). One of the main reasons I bought tickets. Should notify people on their website that shows are cancelled.

Purchased tickets for the Asian Latern Festival. It was a nice evening stroll through the zoo with the added benefit of these beautiful lantern displays. It's a relaxing event and while maybe not for all, if you take your time to read the history of the latern on display, it is very interesting. There is still a few nights left and the weather is going to be perfect! There is food and drink available along the path. Comfortable shoes recommended.

It's really quite close to the I4 and great if coming from the North/East since you don't have to deal with Orlando nor Kissimmee :-) Parking is on grass with gravel road and an overspill field that was already in play when we arrived. My wife bought tickets online while in the parking lot - saving a couple dollars each on the door price. The aerial adventure is more than just zipline, not for the unfit nor faint-hearted - reservations recommended - you walk through that area to get to the park entrance. We were disappointed that the train wasn't running, found the layout a bit hard to navigate, but a great place for a day outdoors and our kids are NOT toddlers any more :-)

I have a love hate relationship with zoos as it's sad to see animals locked up but I do enjoy being able to see a wide variety of animals. My favorite animal is the Cheetah and seeing that they were given a decently large roaming area was pleasant. (They need large areas). I was however a bit distressed seeing the beautiful and ultra rare Amur leopard in such a small area. I could tell he is quite stressed being in such a small area due to his pacing and other behaviors. I would really appreciate seeing the zoo give him a larger cage and maybe less out of sight from the middle area of the zoo. Amur leopards are shy and elusive and I'm sure he would highly value some privacy from the main area of noise. The black bears in the back area would be great for our leopard friend. I do believe the Cougar would also appreciate a larger area as well. He did seem content and happy though. I'm a big cat fanatic if you can't tell.

We had such an amazing experience at the sleepover at the Zoo with our Girl Scout Troup! Meryl and Eva were so joyful, informative, patient and fun! Mr Dave was entertaining and on spot with all the exhibits during the night tour! We had such a blast! Shot out to the facility team, the entire park was kept clean and well maintained!

It was my first visit. There were four of us including my 2 toddler daughters and my mother. We should have gone in the early morning at opening time because it got really hot, however we looked at most of the wildlife the zoo had. Some animals were in the shade so we couldn't get a good look. My toddlers barely saw over the fences but they had a good time. The labels and descriptions were nice. The layout of the zoo was well made. It was a medium size park that can be fully enjoyed with just 3-4 hours of walkthrough. We didn't purchase anything except the tickets.

Small but a lot of fun with the kids. You can feed the giraffes, the place is clean and safe, and a nice place to expend a nice time with the family. Small water park for kids and beach seats under a roof, so you can watch them having fun.

I went to this amazing little zoo today! I homeschool my son, so every Friday we go on educational field trips. It was so much fun exploring the zoo together. It's a small zoo, but it's really nice and perfect for a little field trip adventure. Thank you !

This is a great place for the kids. Figure on 3 hrs or so to see it all. There is also a small water park for the kids on hot Florida days. Figure extra time if you hang out at water park. My grandkids really enjoyed the playground. Go early in the morning when it's cooler ,the animals are much more active.

I went here for the Asian Lantern 🏮 Festival and was not disappointed. It’s so beautiful and so much though and time went into these light sculptures. I recommend going at the 7:00pm time slot because the lights are in their full glory and there are snacks and some food you can get there too if you’re hungry. By far worth the $22, amazing place to get some photos.

Fun family experience at Central Florida Zoo. Wonderful decorations for the holidays and Lantern Festival is going on with floats all around the zoo. For lunch I ate Mediterranean turkey wrap at the main food area. It's was yummy and tasty.

Nice little zoo located in the outskirts of Orlando. In comparison to other touristic city areas, this zoo is very small, but still offer a range of attractions that entertain the little ones and adults too. Unfortunately some of the animals were not in display when we paid a visit, which was a bummer. It still paid off though. Our highlight was the giraffes that we could see closely.

This zoo is wonderful! Not too big so you don't feel overwhelmed. Great for toddlers. Has a splash pad. Nice lunch. Only 2 things, the rhino wouldn't come out. Kids were so disappointed. Then when we got to the spider monkeys, they were locked in a cage way in the back while their larger cage was cleaned. Couldn't that be cleaned before the zoo opens? Monkeys are a very fun part of a zoo. Train ride is so fun, our conductor was super!

👍 It's important to know all the facts going in. This is a rescue sanctuary and we absolutely love animals of all kinds. Having zero expectations of what we may or may not see allowed this to be a fun, relaxing, surprise adventure. This family and employees love what they do and it shows. There's not...
