Very nice reserve forest, well maintained roads, you can commonly spot deers and monkeys, rarely elephants, private vehicles are not allowed to stop anywhere in between forest. If really want to see wildlife go for safari. Driving through forest is best experience.

Great place to drive through. The roads are well maintained. You can see lots of 🦌🦌, 🦚🦚 and 🐘🐘. I heard you can even try 🐘 feeding as lot of them are looked after. It seems to be safe as many locals use this road even on their bikes.

We had stayed at 10 person dormitory which cost us less than β‚Ή3000. Really enjoyed the stay. Visited the elephant camp. Food was also good. Spotted many animals on the way to Mysore. A great experience for all of us.

The place is very beautiful with the aid of wildlife. One can really feel the nature from very close. It is really easy to spot dears, monkeys, buffalo, peacock, elephant etc from the safari bus. The lucky one can find the tiger! We enjoyed a lot here.

Wonderful place to be at and to get into the wilderness. There are so many places to explore, if one is fond of forests. Lucky are the ones who sight the wild animals. One can easily get to spot the spotted deer's, monkey's etc.

I stayed here in couple of govt guest houses Theppakadu Log house and Tiger suite. Really chilled and thrilled to have a pleasant stay which is very near a river, surrounded by deers and wild boars, elephants in the night. Loved the place and worth the money.

Pleasant atmosphere with full of greenery. Very beautiful, dense forest.Great Place to drive, the roads are well maintained. I saw deer & elephant but if you are lucky enough & choose early morning safari you can able to see tiger also.A ride through the jungle is great experience. We went in bus but jeep safari options are also available. Safari was 1 hours but I suggest to go in early morning because maximum chance to see tiger in jungle at that time. Tickets rate are reasonable & well maintained staff.

A very great place to spend some time for nature and animal lovers. Go only for government provided safaris. Private safaris are cheaters who take you around the park on normal roads and loot your money. So dont fall for them. Deers, Peacocks, bison are common.

Mudumalai is around 60 km from Ooty. Got an opportunity to see some wild animals here such as Elephant, Deer, Fox, Bison, Bear, Peacock etc. but not TIGER. It was a fine experience in the forest safari. Many safari are available such as Forest dept Van, Jeep and even elephant safari. Each cost at different rates. I chose van safari which is low (340/head) comparatively and safe too.

This place is really good if you are looking into exploring the forest. Suggest you to take a safari to get an opportunity to view rare sightings of animals. This is not a 100% sure case that you get to see the animals. But it increases your chances of viewing the animals

This place is a shelter for many endangered animals. You can reach this place from ooty Tamilnadu or from Mysore Karnataka. You can view elephants 🐘, deers 🦌 Peacocks 🦚 mangoos and Tigers πŸ…. The drive within this Reserve is beautiful. You can book forest safari from the office. Be careful when traveling inside the forest.

We drove across the lush green forest of Mudumalai National Park and spotted elephant right on the road, it was such an incredible experience. We also saw groups of deer. You are not allowed to park, get down or take selfies inside the park. They have options for jeep Safari and mini bus safari to take you into few other places to spot wildlife inside the jungle. Spotting a tiger is a rarity here and hugely depends on your luck!

We were lucky enough to see wild elephants, black bear, bison, deer, monkeys, peacocks, many birds and mountain squirrels. Please don't litter here, nor stop and block roads. Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is located in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu state spread over 321 sq.km. at the tri-junction of three states, viz, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and it plays an unique role by forming part of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve, the first Biosphere Reserve in India, declared during 1986. It has a common boundary with Wyanad Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) on the West, Bandipur Tiger Reserve (Karnataka) on the North, and the Nilgiris North Division on the South and East and Gudalur Forest Division on the South West, together forming a large conservation landscape for flagship species such as Tiger and Asian Elephant. Reception Centre is located at Theppakadu. The name Mudumalai means ” the ancient hill range”. Indeed, it is as old as 65 million years when Western Ghats were formed.

Nice forest near to Mysore. One can do jungle safari inside the forest to see wild life. Deer , elephant , monkey , langor, peocock ...are easy to spot.... For anything... it's ur luck.... Though we were not lucky enough... So can't find anything. Will recommend anyone to choose stay in side the forest area.... Lot's of home stay and resorts are available. It's a forest.... located in a huge area. Tamilnadu permit is needed...so don't forget to get it. No too many options for food ..so pack ur food is advisable ( if u don't have a plan to stay there). Early morning safari is good to enjoy the morning fog.

This Reserved forest is a wonderful place to explore wildlife.. wanderers, travellers and wildlife lovers should explore this place atleast once in life.. I have seen Deer just 5feet away from my hand.. Both foster Elephant and Forest elephants are seen here.. Forest officers and patrol will be rounding the forest to ensure safety of public. And no people is aloowed to stop or park the vehicle in this reserved forest.. Vehicle should be only in moving until the exit of forest

Of course, it is one of the best places to visit for a time out or for an R&R. The safari service from the Govt of Tamil Nadu is nice and convenient and also affordable, but you always need luck in your favor if you expect to see a real wild animal other than a Deer or Elephants which you can almost see everywhere. Its a 1 hour ride into the deep forests and totally a memorable one. It's more fun if you are going with your friends and very enjoyable. We had the chance to see some Bison. The bus provided by the GoT is comfortable and well maintained and evidently its an unmissable visit if you are in Nilgiris.

Great place . Gypsy safari is costly. But it's worth the cost of you're extremely lucky. Bus safari also good. Chance to see animals purely depends on luck. Many deers, elephants, Indian gaur, wild boars, sometimes bear and very very very rarely tigers can be seen. Evening there's elephant feeding at the elephant camp, just 100m from the national park reception. It's fun. Must visit there too.

if you are not an Indian citizen, don’t go because they have racism in prices for the foreign visitors, its even more than doubled the price. we went safari with the jeep and paid 6000 rupees for 4 people AND HAVE NOT SEEN EVEN 1 ANIMAL INSIDE !!! the animals we saw on the road while coming to this place was the only thing worth it so no need to go inside the forest and pay for the ticket to see its not worth it and you wont see any single animal !!!

Mudumalai Tiger Reserve is a captivating haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The dense forests and diverse flora and fauna make it an exciting safari destination. Witnessing majestic tigers, elephants, and other wildlife in their natural habitat is truly unforgettable. The eco-tourism initiatives here are commendable. Accommodations are available within the reserve for an immersive experience. However, it's essential to follow guidelines and maintain a safe distance from animals. A remarkable destination for nature lovers and wildlife photographers alike.

It's a symphony of nature, a canvas painted with vibrant greens, dappled sunlight, and the mesmerizing calls of unseen creatures. It's a place where time slows down, where the whispers of the wild dance on the breeze, and where every breath is an invitation to reconnect with the raw beauty of our planet. Yes, animal hunting is a luck but it’s waste of money for the hours long safari to only see deers, elephants and few monkeys of variety which can be seen throughout your way to Mudumalai. I would suggest to take a trek to bookapuram, it’s an adventurous ride and such a hidden beautiful place.

One among the few reservoir left in Karnataka, but the security is pretty tight. You can even carry plastic bottles, alcohol, cigarettes and even match sticks if you are passing through this. They won't allow you after 6 PM everyday. You better not stop your vehicle when you are inside the reservoir, you can see deers, peacock and elephants on the main road itself. Too many speed breakers.

Its worth taking a drive from the Tiger reserve when travelling to and fro Tamil Nadu. You can see loads of Deers, Elephants, Peacocks, Monkeys and other smaller animals. Seeing a tiger is a rare sight if travelling on the highway, but maybe possible if you take a Government approved Safari. It's not advisable to stop your car to take photos and getting out of the car is a penalised action and dangerous too. Early morning and late evening drives are good for viewing more animals. There is no charge to enter the reserve though you might require a government pass to change the State.

Places were litter free. Saw a few bison, deers and a couple of elephants. Had a thrilling experience as we were waiting and wanting to see something. We went on a safari ride paid around 5k for a safari jeep. It's private and only for your family. It was widely open and that's what made the whole experience awesome. If you are planning to go on a safari ride please go by pre afternoon or during the morning. Rainy days are not recommended as you would not be able to see many wild animals. Summer is the best time I believe as animals might come out to have some water. There was a hidden waterfall inside the jungle. On the whole it was a great experience to go with kids. Had fun. Unfortunately we were not able to sight a tiger πŸ… πŸ™„ I'll add a few pictures for you to see whats there.

Feb 2022, We crossed mudumalai on the way from Bandipur to gudalur. Roads are not very good, but manageable. Could spot bison, elephants, deers and peacocks. Nice view as the road runs parallel to the river. Unfortunate to spot any tiger but at last we could see a bear 🐻

Lots of deer, wild boar and peacock can be seen from the road itself. You can take jungle safari jeeps that will take you deep inside the forest. Rains from late afternoon so take the trip in the morning

You don't need to take safari, just drive around the road for a few kilometres, it in itself is a safari. Elephant, deer, peacock are a common sight alongside the road. What one should absolutely try is to visit the elephant conversation project in the morning...must Visit !!

We went for jeep safari in masinagudi around 1.30 pm. Unfortunately couldn't see elephants or tigers. We saw fox, deers and some monkeys πŸ˜” Try to go as early as possible like between 8 am to 10 am is best time to see wild animals but that too based on your luck.

The highlight of my visit was the wildlife safari. Accompanied by an experienced guide, we ventured deep into the reserve, navigating through rugged terrains in an open jeep. The thrill of spotting animals in their natural environment was unparalleled. We were fortunate enough to encounter herds of elephants, graceful deer and even a variety of bird species. The icing on the cake was catching a glimpse of a magnificent tiger, stealthily moving through the dense foliage. It was a moment that will stay etched in my memory forever.

Though we could not do Safari we had a good experience while passing through the tiger reserve by road. The road is right through the jungle and it is not allowed to stop your vehicle or get down from your vehicle. We could see quite a few wild animals like deer, peacock, wild boars, and elephants. I'm not sure but it seems like there are more chances to see the animals during the evening just before sunset. Remember that if you are traveling by your own vehicle back from Ooty, you will not be able to travel back via the same route which is Kalahatti ghat. They allow you to go up this road towards Ooty but the return is not allowed for non Ooty drivers because climbing down this road is very risky because of the sharp hair pin turns. So if you're planning Safari while coming back from Ooty, you will have to take another route through Gudalur which will take you around 1 hour more to reach the safari start point.

It was a great experience to travel through the forest. I prefer no to go on rainy days, because we are not able to see the animals. They are charging per head 130 rupees.

Compared to other well known tiger reserves the safari time is very short . So if you sight a tiger, consider yourself extremely lucky. Other wild lives can be spotted on the route from Gudalur towards Mysore. So practically the safari is a waste of money. Gaurs, langurs, peacocks and spotted deers are some of the animals one can sight in this reserve.

Driving across madumalai Tiger Reserve area experience will be good. You may find animals next to the road or crossing road. Mostly dears and peacocks are common you can see.

Scenic and serene, the forest road offers a peaceful escape into nature. The lush greenery and winding paths create a picturesque journey. However, be prepared for some bumpy terrain. Ideal for nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility
