This was the best part of the trip to Wayanad. The trek was a little challenging with quite a bit of hiking along with hiking with the help of a rope near the peak but all of it was worth the hike The sun rose when we were at the halfway mark but then the view from the peak was nothing less than amazing

Stay at Ambalavayal (read the entire review to know why). Trek to Cheengeri for sunrise. It is a medium trekking. May take around 30-45 mitues of climbing. But worth it. The place opens at 6 in the morning. Reach there before 6. Tickets cost around Rs 40 or something. Per person. Plus camera charges if you got any. Timings: 6 am to 9.30 am; 4 pm to 7 pm. Take water with you. NO PLASTICS. Its cold up there. But really hot after 9. You can see the Edakkal caves hill (Ambukutty hills) and many other hills in the region. Nearby places: Edakkal caves and Karappuzha dam adventure tourism are interesting places. Staying at Ambalavayal is worth. There are small tea shops near by. Parking space is available. Ask for Kaduvakkuzhi, when you get down from Cheengeri after trekking. It is a cave in which tiger has been spotted ocassionally. It is walkable from Cheengeri. But you may need a local to guide you as there are no sign boards. Do not enter the cave. It is really deep and very dangerous. (The Google Map location, when I write this, is wrong. I have submitted the changes. This location marks a private resort. Go to Kaduvakkuzhi view point, if you wanna trek to Cheengeri hills. Forget this remark if the location is already near Kaduvakkuzhi view point)

Are you looking for a hiking with family in wayanad? Cheengerimala is the right option where DTPC helps the people who wants to explore. This is a moderate trekking spot and instead of grasslands you will find only rocks everywhere. Therefore you have to be little cautious while walking especially with kids. We can see many areas from the top of the rock including Karapuzha dam. This Rock is situated ambalavayal Karapuzha road. Try once.

Get there at 6 AM to ensure that you get tickets. Medium difficulty trek for those who don't trek normally. The view at the top is amazing, expecially at Sunrise.

Its around 3400 ft height. Its easy to find. Many of the localities do not know about this trekking. They have kept multiple posts with white flag indicating the height. We csn follow these posts till the top. Trekking is very is for about 3000ft or 3/4 th of total trekking. Then we can see a view post after which there’s a large boulder. looks very steep. But trust me it’s not. Many people think that it’s slippery but it’s not. They have tired a thick rope from top to support the trekkers. It is helpful if you are scared. You caneasily climb this large stone/boulder to reach the to and view is breathtaking . You can see 360 degree areal view of Wayanad.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Loved this place. Happen to see a beautiful rock from a distance. Kept riding towards it. It's just beautiful in its own way. Bikers can certainly ride and enjoy some crazy off roading stuff. You get to see a beautiful view of some water bodies too❀️
