Recommend. Such a lovely experience being close to nature and camping at a mountain top. The backpackers guide you well and take care of you nonintrusively , while ensuring safety, space and privacy for trekkers and campers. It offers breathtaking views and experiences for you to cherish, especially sunset at Yellow Rock (check sunset timing for the day and be there early enough!) and sunrise (check sunrise timing for the day and wakeup early to catch it) - simply wow! . Other very famous attractions like Edakkal caves, Phatom rock, Karapuzha dam etc are nearby and they will guide you. The homestay where they organise food and give you a room for freshening up, is simple, good enough and gives you safe and hearty dinner and breakfast. Overall worthy experience.

My experience with the backpackers were terrible. The information in their brochure is not the real one. They say check in is at 5.30 pm. But the real check in must be around 7.30 or 8 in the evening. At 5.30 they will take you to Manjapaara hills for the sunset, btw you can go there by yourself, locals do come there for the sunset view. It’s pretty nice tbh. Then they will take you to a fresh up place after 6.30 pm which is 4 km away from Manjapaara. Around 7.30 or 8 pm they will take you to the camping site which is again 4 km away from the fresh up place. So I am pretty sure the check in to the real place would be by 8.30 pm. Also I got to know the pics here are old and they are giving the tent stay in some other place, also some other pics are from other locations including 900 Kandi. I skipped stay and be aware before you book. Thanks

Superb experience! I just wanted a tent stay and called them. Akhil planned that and much more for the entire trip in advance and kept guiding me to go places. More than being a great host, he went overboard to make the experience unforgettable. I am definitely planning more trips with them. They do have packages for families and large groups, ask for Akhil!

A joyful experience visiting this lovely place for camping was just mesmerizing. Must visit those who are camping lovers. Food was so good and staff were polite and nice. Both the sunset and sunrise views were the best experience we ever had. especially the morning view after an amazing sleep inside the tent on the hill top. The safety ensured by these guys are really appreciable, So we strongly recommend these guyz for couple camping and she camping. It was an amazing experience with Waynad Backpackers. I went all the way to Waynad for this and I am glad I travelled that far. Hospitality is just amazing. One of the best locations in India to camp and witness the magic of nature. It will be one of the best sunrise of your life. You visit on mountain top at night where the sky is covered with millions of stars and camp there to witness the sunrise. The homemade food is delicious and gives you an authentic Kerala feel. If you are thinking of going here just go with your eyes closed and rest they will take care. Akhil and Sarath are gem of a person and will take care of everything you need.

Big disappointment. The people are unprofessional. The tents are very small, the land where they put the tent is not at all flat so, highly uncomfortable to sleep. They put only one bedsheet and no mattress so its like you are sleeping on sand and stones. They won give any pillow. We slept diagonally but still the legs were touching the tent walls. Plus very very thin blanket they will give which is not sufficient for night and morning team. Coming to food, never tried such tasteless food. They didnt provide kerla special Sulaimani which they mentioned in their itenary. The tent site is inaccessible from Google so they charge extra 1000 rupees to take you from Ambalvel to the site and then again 1000 bucks for the return trip. My takeaways, They are unprofessional people. The tent and the facilities they provide is very poor to get a good sleep even of 4 hours. Food will be kept under open sky, so it will be cold. Taste is extremely disappointing. Charges doesnt complement the services they provide. Will not recommend them.
