Located at a distance of 18km from Kumbakonam, this temple is one of the nine navagragha temple dedicated to Planet Venus(Sukran). Here the Lord name is Agneeshwarar and Ambal is Karpagam. Its a very old temple and people visit this temple especially on Fridays to seek blessings from Lord Sukran for marriage and wealth wishes. The priests are very kind and will do proper archanai(poojas) . You may need to get archanai ticket if incase you’re doing it. There seems to be very less buses connecting the temple. Better to take taxi and check other temples near to it. You wont find any restaurants nearby but small shops that cook and normal tiffen items. If you’re a lover of old and calm temples, you can definitely visit this one.

This is 'Padal Petra Stalam' of Suyambu Lord Agneeswarar and Goddess Karpagambal. Lord Brahma got the view of Lord Siva Parvathi's marriage. Parasara Magarishi got the dancing view of Lord Siva. Mostly in all temple, Lord Natarajar will be a bronze statue but here it's stone statue. This is famous for Lord Sukran of Navagraha. It's one of the temple where Sukran worshiped Lord Agneeswarar and Goddess Karpagambal here.

This is one of the Navagraha Sthalas associated with Shukran (Venus) Rishi Parashara was blessed in this holy land and the local legend is that Lord Shiva himself got rid of the malefects of Shukra Graha here.

One of the less known Navagraha sthalam ! Few very uniqueness you can observe in this temple . 1. Sukrabahavan with his wife blesses in urchavamoorthy . 2. Besides Lord Shiva blesses as Agneeswarer there is separate Nataraja sannadhi present where the Moorthy is dancing stone statue form all Big 4 Nayanmars worshiping him right opposite of this sannadhi . 3. Ambal Shri Karpagambal is so beautiful and mesmerising she is also present in poora urchava Moorthy . Your Navagraha sthala tour completes only after visiting this temple may be !

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA Temple situated 19 kms from Kumbakonam and 4 kms from Sooriyanar Koil. East facing shrine and Raja gopuram faces south. Glorified in Thevaram by Saint Thirunavukarasar. Lord Shiva as Agneeswarar and Goddess Parvathi as Karpagambigai. Sukran ( Venus ) sthala among the nine Navagraha sthalams. Here Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy themselves represent the planet Sukran. Lord Brahma has another name as Kanjan.Since Lord Brahma ( Kanjan ) worshipped Lord Shiva here this place got the name Kanjanur . Lord Brahma got the opportunity to see Lord Shiva’s wedding darshan in this temple. As lord Agni worshipped here Lord Shiva is called Agneeswarar. Lord Shiva performed his “Mukthi Thandavam” dance for Saint Parasarar here. Also, Parasarar was cured of his mental illness by Lord Shiva here. Lord Chandran got relieved from his curses. Haradhathar a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva worshipped here. The idol of the stone Nandhi which is believed to have taken the grass from Haradhathar can also be seen here. Devotees believe that worshipping Lord Shiva here will bless them with wealth and prosperity. Those seeking cure for mental disorder can also worship Lord Agneeswarar and Goddess Karpagambigai for speedy recovery.

Shukra Dev (Venus) temple 1 of the Nava graha temple in Mayilaaduthurai area.Around 2.5 km from Sun temple(Suryanar koil) in Aaduthurai. Little inside from main routes. Autos (100rs) available from Aaduthurai and from Sun temple. U can offer lamps(100rs) and do archana(100 to 200 depending on items ) to Sukra dev. Lamps and Archana sets( coconuts, mala, banana, vettila, dress etc) available infront of the main gate, in small shops. When I visited, the main poojaari was singing the mantras/prayers very nicely, very nice to hear!

PEOPLE WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES GREATER THAN THE DEITY HIMSELF We could nowhere find the name of the king, who built this magnificent temple, but the saddest part is that these people who, built temporary sheds on people's money (MP fund) and take greatest pride (Cheap advertisement) to focus themselves as if they built the whole temple by themselves.

It's an ancient temple of Lord Venus (Shukrudu). There are a few lanes inside the main temple where it's pitch dark and you can actually sense how old the temple is. It's fascinating!!

The temple boasts of striking architectural finesse with a five tiered gopuram and two precincts. It is Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shukra (Venus). People give their offerings and prayers to get a wealthy life with a good life partner. In this place Lord Shiva gave darshan in a wedding role along with Lord Parvathi. People along pray to the Goddess Karpagambika for getting child.

No proper parking space. Bad road. Exorbitantly priced Pooja items. People ready to cheat and extract money from you in the name of different poojas. If you visit the temple, just go to the temple and see the God directly avoiding middle men. No importance for general public.

A wonderful experience, only God has to be kind to give us an opportunity to visit this temple. I as a North Indian would only advise that one must be accompanied by a native of Tamil Nadu to help you connect to the rituals and the pujaris.

Temple dedicated to Sukra dev and lord Shiva is named as Agneeswarar. The structure is pretty old and can be renovated for a better look. Lord Shukra is the god of marriage, wealth & many good things. Having a darshan of him at this special place shall bring good luck to all. It's a pretty small village and the roads are very narrow.

Good vibes and had good Dharshan. Temple is very famous but no regular bus service, proper road, Fees for temples is ₹150/- but illegal hawkers demand money in name of Pooja around 50/- for kumkum, 101/- for iyer plate dhakshan, 50/- for prasatham bag & 50/- for car parking.

Sri Agneeswarar Temple under renovation it seems. A dedicated shrine for Lord Venus (Sukran/ Sukiran) one of the nine planets (Navagrahathil ondru). Beware of shopkeepers, they says lot of customs to be followed in the shrine to make/ lure you buy many unnecessary things. 🙏
