I really wanted this stay to be nice and worth it. Unfortunately, it was anything but. I want to first mention that when you pay for the stay there, with your card, they use a exchange rate of 3000 Ugandan shillings per US dollar. The real rate is 3500 for anyone who doesn’t know, and they claim it’s because they are far away from the capital. I stayed in multiple hotels and hostels around the country and not one of them charged anything less than 3400. That put a sour taste in my mouth to start with. The staff, while they tried to be friendly, were very incompetent. I wanted to grab dinner I believe around 8:10 PM and it took me arguing with them to serve me dinner because they stop serving at 8 PM. The whole experience was just not worth it. It’s way too overpriced for what it is. While the scenery is beautiful, the staff and the owners are not only ripping customers off but they are rude and unprofessional. I am sure that this review will have a “witty” response from the owner, claiming certain things about me and how I was not the greatest guest but I’m telling you I have traveled the entire world and this was one of the worst stays I’ve ever experienced. On top of all of this, they are now harassing my girlfriend on social media. Chameleon Lodge, stop with this nonsense please. Let’s both move on from this horrible experience.

Amazing lodge nestled hillside by a gorgeous lake. But that’s not all, it’s the professional and caring staff takes the cake. After staying at a less well-designed lodge in Ishasha QENP earlier this year, coming to Chameleon Hill was like checking into the Ritz Carlton and finally finding luxury. The rooms and common spaces are designed very thoughtfully, the killer view of Lake Mutanda from all the rooms and common areas is just magical! I would definitely come back again even without trekking Gorillas. The drive from the lodge to Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest National Park is only 30-45 minutes away depending on road conditions and your comfort of driving on dirt roads. Fuel is found midway between the National park and the lodge should your gauge be low, small villages with craftspeople are all around. But the gift shop at Chameleon Hill Lodge is also well stocked and priced fairly so no need to haggle.

It is a wonderful lodge built on a ridge in Kisoro, South Western Uganda and offers very beautiful views of Lake Mutanda and Virunga mountains. The staff are really awesome and friendly and the meals served are very delicious. It is also a great base for Gorilla tracking in the area. The prices are moderate and therefore even local tourism is thus encouraged for the nationals. The lodge has as well invested greatly in the nearby local community and thus it gives great joy to visit.

This secluded lodge provides a stunning view of Lake Mutanda. The lodge has quaint cottages that are very well kept on a daily basis. The staff is excellent, providing superior service. Angnus and Spenca were especially kind and helpful.

The lodge is very well equipped and has a stunning location overlooking Lake Mutanda. Although there are many great lodges in beautiful locations, this one is special. The difference here is clearly the team, all of whom exude a super warm and friendly atmosphere. On arrival you immediately feel at home away from home, and on departure it feels like saying goodbye to friends.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Chameleon Hill Forest Lodge with my husband, and we can confidently say that everything about this place is absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and hospitality that truly touched our hearts. The culinary experience at this lodge is nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you dine in the restaurant or enjoy a meal prepared for your trekking adventure. The quality of dishes exceeded our expectations. The day before the trekking they gave us the option to choose our preferences. The rooms at Chameleon Hill are stunning, offering not only comfort but also breathtaking views of Lake Mutanda. Waking up to such a tranquil and picturesque setting was a real treat. It's the perfect place to escape the everyday routine and immerse yourself in nature's beauty. In summary, our stay at Chameleon Hill Forest Lodge far surpassed our expectations. I would rate it a perfect 10/10. If you're looking for a place where perfection meets nature, this is it.

We were looking forward to the visit from booking as Jennie and the team were so helpful with some admin we couldn’t get sorted. We arrived and what a stunning place we got to! We had an adventure getting here as we took the wrong road but Gilbert welcomed us with open arms!! It was off season so we had the run of the place. The room we had was delightful and what a view. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was too. Thank you Gilbert Spencer & Said for making us so welcome.

Amazing lodge in a beautiful location. You are on the Hill overlooking lake Mutanda and volcanoes, it's stunning! All the rooms have the same view and a little deck to enjoy it. Food was very good and the staff is very friendly, caring and welcoming. It takes time to get to that hill but it's definitely worth it. Mind that the rooms are located also on the hill and there are stairs. You have to go up/down to get to the reception. Also if you want to go to the lake, you do a bit of hiking through the forest. Loved our stay there!

We just spent 4 days at this magical place on Lake Mutanda and do not want to leave. it‘s been a wonderful stop to experience the Gorilla Trecking and we enjoyed every minute we spent at the lodge. The service is extraordinary and there are so many lovely details to discover everywhere on the premises. The staff at Chameleon Hill Lodge makes every stay very special and you feel at home from the minute you walk in. Definitely recommend to stop here during your Uganda trip! The lodge also offers many activities to experience the local surroundings. We enjoyed a fantastic boat trip on Lake Mutanda and the massage on our room veranda was a 5/5 experience too!

This was an extraordinary journey! With the best experience in the end. We got an warm welcome in Chameleon Hill Lodge. What an view on lake Mutanda. You want miss that one. The lodge is very gaudy, what gives it a friendly atmosphere. Meals are delicious. And after the Gorilla trekking, i used to spend the evening at the cozy fireplace. My overall rating c‘ant actually be better. I wish the staff al the best for their future and continue with the good work. Thanks for all

The Chameleon Hill Forest lodge is a wonderful stay in the Lake Mutanda and Bwindi NP area. With great amenities and excursions to suit your interests. The staff are an amazing bunch and Spensa and Agnes will make sure your stay is nothing but superb. We visited many lodges in our stay in Uganda and this one ranks as our favorite! The view from our room makes it hard to leave!

Good lodge to stay as a base to see the gorilla. Food is good as well but there are some negative too. Not all activities paid for were in the end available and some of the staff can do with an attitude adjustment. The owner is doing the right thing in reinvesting with the community. Great view of the lake

Absolutely gorgeous and amazing. The staff was soooo friendly, it really felt like home away from home. Rooms are superb, the view is to die for, beds have nets around, shower is amazing, food is great and there’s options for a nice drink to wind down in the afternoon/evening. We actually spent most of the time at the lodge - we did do a canoe trip, and Herbert was great in giving a tour of the different plants and history of the lake. Really gorgeous and super relaxing. Definitely recommend, it’s absolutely worth it!

A wonderful experience. Fresh! Beautiful views. Rooms are neat, loved the veranda. Steep stairs. Bathrooms spacious. Excellent Location, forest easily reachable. Roads to Lodge is bumby but is overcome with 4x4 transport. Wifi very bad for guests that need to run their business daily. Staff very polite. It is great that the Lodge can arrange all activities for you. Activity program well organised.

A modern, beautiful lodge with incredible staff! A wonderful place to relax after the gorilla tracking. If you have a chance to stay here - then do it and do it again if you can!! :-) The view from the lodge and also the lovely guest rooms + main building are more than just beautiful. The experience is actually something you won't forget easily!!!

Simply wonderful lodge with stunning views over Lake Mutanda, great staff and nice food. It's the perfect place to set out for Mountain Gorilla trekking or hiking to the top of one of the Virunga Volcanoes. I will come back.
