We called in for reservations on a chilly Sunday evening about 9:40 because the kitchen closes at 10.30 , when we got there it wasn’t too busy and we got sat immediately sent in our orders and we actually got quick service because the food arrived in less than 20 minutes, We ordered sizzling crocodile for starters and the the game platters with buffalo meat and some other local meats . The meat was really good 7/10 . The atmosphere is perfect lots of space and trees and greenery we shall definitely come back again

One of the most ambitious places in Kampala. The game meat is authentic and deliciously prepared. Raymond Mugisha is by far the best attendant in the Lawns... All in all... Words will be words.. One needs to get their own taste and feel of this place.👌

The service was is great and fast. They serve great cocktails, barbecues, game meat. The meals are mouth watering and delicious. The staff are very professional. The place is quiet and can be a venue for any social or corporate event. It is a good place for groups, and you can organise a birthday or graduation party and your guests will leave feeling great.

This is a new place for me. We went on a Monday night. Initially, it was quiet. But a party of around 50 people soon followed us. There was a bit of a delay in the food arriving, but it was nice and tasty. I chose a selection of different game meat. We had an excellent waiter called David. Who was very knowledgeable about the different types of meat. He was cheerful and made the whole experience enjoyable.

Excellent restaurant for formal dining with professional service N00°19.577', E32° 35.269' Moved from Impala Avenue to Lower Kololo Terrace Road, the Lawns left the green lawn with wandering bunnies for wooden terraces between the 18-hole course of the Uganda Golf Club 1908 along the Yusuf Lule Roaf in Kampala. The entrance to the restaurant was hidden behind a disappointing wall and car park, not well marked, but the uniformed guard welcomed us and showed us the way to reception. The restaurant is spread over several levels with the restaurant building with kitchen on the highest level. It is a formal place to dine with set tables with real tablecloths and the service of professional waiters. In December 2022, we ordered the game meat tasting menu (90.000sh) and were not disappointed. We loved the presentation, the preparation of the different dishes with flags and the texture and flavour of the different meat products. Very enjoyable. The service was excellent: a real delight to find that good service can add so much to a very good dinner. The Lawns is a formal place to enjoy good food and impress your guest with excellent service. Highly recommended.

I have always loved the concept of The Lawns which was tied into its previous venue, with its rolling green lawn and unmistakable colonial charm, synonymous with Kololo's leafy environs. Now, following the move to Lower Kololo, what the restaurant has lost in character, it has more than made up for it in utility and fucntionality. The architect somehow managed to fit a kitchen, dinning area, outdoor sitting terrace, a separate bar terrace, a rooftop terrace for functions and events, and a sand pit all in one space, whilst leaving the massive colonial mansionette unscathed. The sitting area is beautiful and airy whilst giving diners a view of the Kampala Golf Club and course. The menu is broad and varied with game meat featuring significantly. We went there with a large party of 10 on a busy night and 6 of us ordered the same thing, which seemed to overwhelm the kitchen. Our friends who ordered uniquely seemed much more happier. My advice is make a reservation in advance to ensure sitting as the table go pretty fast.

A good place for meat lovers and a bad place for fine dining experience at the price offered. Lawns food is really nice and you can tell the chef does his best to make the foods stand out, however the pricing doesnt reflect the dining experience because its too pricey if all your paying for is just a place to sit to eat meat. Staff was fair though one forgot our order and we had to pay for her mistake because apparently the food was already prepared. All in all its a 2 star experience

Great place for a dinner in Kampala. They have a very pleasant terrace. The selection of African meats is great. The Serengeti plate comes with 4 different types of your choose. The meats were super tender and flavourful. The service was also nice. The only reason I don't give them 5* is because of the dessert. I ordered the banofee sundae and it was basically strawberry (???) Ice-cream with some slices of banana ok the side. A big disappointment and even the ice-cream wasn't good or quality. A big shame for such a nice restaurant.

Slow service, high prices, and cold food. The Lawns is a falling star. It used to be the best place to grab a steak or some wild Game meat. It still is the only place to get decent Game meat, but there are much better places for regular grilled beef, chicken, and pork. The appetizers came out well, hot, and tasty. But, the main dishes were delayed, and many items arrived to the table cold. Then at checkout time there was discrepancy with the bill that required assistance from the manager Mr Singh. As someone coming from out of country, The Lawns ended up surpassing value for money. The meat was maybe indivially small in portion but in total a great portion size. Very unique and cooked exactly to the medium rare order. Accompanying vegetables were far from an afterthought being more perfectly cooked than I can do at home. I went with a cheaper wine from the menu that was very nice. They clearly care about their offerings in that avenue and I'm sure their premium bottles are worth it. Hard to argue with a memorable, filling, truly well done meal and wine for ~$30.

I'm not sure if the taste of some of the food is better when its not hot BUT OTHERWISE Lawns has great staff who appear to have great knowledge of most of the menu including wine selections which is quite impressive. It looks gorgeous and gives the level of exclusivity many eateries do not offer.

I ordered food for delivery. The order included a Greek salad that was clearly a mistake. I called the restaurant to let them know. They said that I should eat it. I have visited Lawns several times and I really liked their food and their services. Last week I was their and had a crocodile tail.and it was so delicious than I imagined 😜.

Took the family out for a Christmas day lunch and was appalled at the service. It took 2 hours to get our meal, and in between this, once we had complained to the manager about the slow service, he had the audacity to FIRE the waitress who was dealing with us. Extremely unprofessional and extremely unrepentant. Once confronted he could not even own up to the decision. I will make it a point to let people know that the staff here is not treated fairly at all. Once the food did arrive, it was cold and hard. Not worth an almost 3 hour wait. The only saving grave were the drinks. If I could give this place less than one star, I definitely would. Not recommended.

I have hang out at the Lawns for the last 8 years before they moved to the current location. The dessert named dolce triolad was fantastic, presented like Masterchef! Garnisged with chocolate leaves, Tasted super. Also, had wanted to try out the platter only to be told it can be consumed by 1 person only - strange!! However, it's a good place for a chill & a good conversation. I liked that they have a kids play area that keeps the little ones busy as you go about your dining. All-in all, they are still a good place to dine.

I was really excited about this place especially because of their food variety, wild meat and ambience. However, I was disappointed after they clearly insisted I had to pay a deposit to reserve for the Xmas buffet(4-course meal) which I did, but they failed to deliver that day. We were there at the time that I told them we would but they didn't even reserve our table. Anyway, they found us a place to sit. We waited for our meal for almost an hour but nothing. We decided to call the waiter who reveals that the meal was over and claimed we came much later than the time we'd booked (which was not true). Long story short, we ordered for something else but all in all our experience wasn't pleasant. Besides for most of our time there, we were ignored, disturbed by bees, even when we asked to be moved, one waiter ignored us. Later, we had to move ourselves because of how disturbing the bees were, we could barely eat our meal in peace.
