One of my favorite hostels I've been to through my travels. The staff are super nice, friendly and welcoming, and gave us a great recommendation for a place to have a late lunch after arriving. The hostel itself is pretty trendy and cool - there are lots of cool paintings along the walls, and the balcony is amazing, with breathtaking views of the city. The bar on the balcony is decently well stocked with unique beers, if you're like me and like to sample the different beers of new places. The beds are comfortable and have good mosquito nets. The bathroom is shared although clean and with good privacy. My only real complaints are that there is a pretty severe lack of plugs and that there aren't too many good places to work on your computer - especially if you need to be plugged in. But for such a great price, it really can't be beat!

My 2 friends and me were volunteering near Kampala. I am really glad that one of the places we stayed in was The Five Horseman hostel. Before staying, i communicated through e-mail with the hostel, they always answered very clearly and fast. Staff was generally friendly :). We stayed in 8 bed mixed dormitory room. All beds have mosquito nets. Our room had a sharing bathroom, which was always clean and had warm water. I love the colors and decorations inside the hostel! There is a luggage room, if you need it. We had a free breakfast included, which you have to order and usually it takes about 10 minutes to get it. Sometimes they have live music evenings on the rooftop, there are a lot of people and it is just amazing. Also, i highly recommend you to go on the rooftop during daytime for the panoramic views :). Another interesting activity they offer is art class :). P.S. Near the hostel, you can go to eat in Fine Fair Hotel (3 minutes walk, just above the supermarket)... you might wait super long (like one hour) to get food, but their food is extremely delicious! P.S. 2 Maybe just pay attention if some of the guests are bringing guys/girls who are not checked in the hostel to sleep with them... if you notice, inform the receptionist and they will sort it out. Altogether, I would stay there again!

The Five Horsemen Hostel is a clean and affordable place to stay not too far from everything. The rooftop bar/chill area has a beautiful view and nice staff, which makes it perfect for a relaxing evening. The staff was also flexible with payment and checkout time. The only flaw I experienced druing my stay was when I returned with a friend quite late one night: when we got off our boda there were three thieves outside the hostel, probably waiting for customers to return. They tried to beat and rob us, but luckly we ran inside the hostel quickly enough. When we reported this to the hostel staff we didnt get taken seriously.. The guard that was supposed to be guarding the place was sleeping in the staircase. So please BE AWARE OF ROBBERIES when returning at night.

We had an amazing time at FiveHorsemen! We originally booked for 2 nights, then extended 2 more, and then 2 more for a total of 6days! - it is such an awesome place with awesome people. The staff are super friendly (Angela, Fred, Marjorie, Simon..all of them!!!) and will go above and beyond to answer your questions and requests. Kessia the manager was especially incredible. She knew everything that was happening around the town and we had an unforgettable time because of her recommendations. He knowledge is priceless!! The rooftop was also awesome for chilling out and also had a cool party there. Would definitely stay again when I come back. +++They even found and returned my mates lost iPhone! It made his night!

Yodit, Hilda, Peace and Angela make the most wonderful hosts at this clean, well located, friendly, hostel. They are all so kind, so helpful, so generous, they make delicious food, they washed our clothes, they welcomed us with a warm smile. I really hope the owners of this place appreciate how great the staff are!

Decent hostel with an amazing view of Kampala. Friendly service and comfortable beds - great value for money! A few things to watch out for though; it is VERY hard to find in the dark and not clearly signposted. Food service also took several hours in the evening as the kitchen is quite small! Overall, I recommend as a place for a stopover in Kampala.

Really great hostel! I stayed here twice and both times had a really good experience. The staff is very friendly and will help you with all kinds of requests. The place also has a great rooftop terrace with an astonishing view over central Kampala. It's also good to meet locals who'll sometimes come to hangout at the rooftop (but not in the hostel).

We stayed with some friends at The Five Horsemen, the hostel has a really good vibe and friendly staff. The rooftop bar offers an incredible view and is a nice hangout place, perfect for solo travellers as well. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable.

Hostel is ok. Not more, not less. For the price of the dorm actually too much. Even if voted best Hostel in Uganda, for Western standard this is still extremely low quality. For a night stayover acceptable.

The five Horseman is a good place to stay in Kampala when you are looking for a affordable place with everything you need. Especially the staff was very nice. They helped us a lot with the planing of our trips and any questions we had. The location is unfortunately not the best, because the hostel is a bit outside and thee is a lot of traffic you have to plan for extra time to reach the city center and there isn’t a lot to do in the neighborhood of the hostel.

Good budget accomodations just 3km from the heart of Kampala. Easy access though not so cool / calm environment. Reception and hospitality is fine. Recommend for backpackers.

Initially staying here for 2 nights, we decided to extend our stay for one more because we loved it so much! Breakfast is included with the option to upgrade to include other items. Unfortunately some of these items weren’t available but we were able to fill up at lunch and dinner time from their amazing selection! The carrot and ginger soup and their version of the rolex are both delicious. The beds were super comfy as well and the mosquito nets had 0 holes in them which was super refreshing in comparison to some of the other places we stayed!

It is an hostel, not a hotel as advertised online. The restaurant food and service reception was surprisingly good though.
