πŸ‘πŸ‘ Fantastic service and hosts. Some say the location is not ideal, but I disagree. It is hard to find a peaceful place like this traveling around Africa. WiFi is good, showers are hot, beds are very comfortable, and the place is very clean. There's a yard with clotheslines and a fully equipped kitchen... Fantastic service and hosts. Some say the location is not ideal, but I disagree. It is hard to find a peaceful place like this traveling around Africa. WiFi is good, showers are hot, beds are very comfortable, and the place is very clean. There's a yard with clotheslines and a fully equipped kitchen with a place to make coffee and tea. I couldn't believe there was no one else staying here. Good price too!

Very flexible and nice host. The place is clean, in a surprisingly calm neighbourhood and affordable. There are different price ranges depending on the rooms. The garden and the group room were plesant and you could use the kitchen freely.

Very cheap priced. Nice basic facilities. Hot shower, Wi-Fi, sockets in the room, big garden and a kitchen to use. They sell water and beer inside. The manager is a really nice guy who will help you with everything. It's a bit away from the city centre. So you have to order a motorbike.

I've been there a few times; this backpaker is really good with very fair prices; a kitchen to cook your own food (which is pretty rare in Uganda accordingto my experience), very nice and chill staff; a cozy lounge and outside space... Its name is saying it all : you will feel home :)

A quiet and peaceful place where you can feel at home in a big common room with other guests The place has presently no wifi but gas for cooking in the kitchen is coming. Because of that I was charged only half price Also need to mention spacious outside sitting area and garden. You can do your own washing. I will be back!

The location of Ewaka backpackers is perfect. It’s not so into the city and neither is it so outside the city. It’s very affordable which is not common for a place with WiFi that is fast as the one they have. It feels like a home away from home because of the calm environment. The staff are friendly. Shout outs to John the custodian for keeping the place tidy and customer friendly. I would recommend it for anyone looking to stay very close to the city at a low budget.

One of the things I enjoyed in my stay in Ewaka is the no-frills approach. I feel at ease with the amenities in this space, that I can cook myself a simple meal, doggos who have been waiting for you, and a greenspace to unwind from the hustle and bustle of Kampala. It is strategically located near the massive Lugogo Market, where you get to meet the local of locals in the midst of their daily life. Ewaka does provide mosquito nets, however, arm yourself with mosquito coils/repellents anyway. I truly enjoyed the stay. Did i also mention that the beds are super clean?

MY WORST EVER EXPERIENCE. This is CRAZY PLACE EVER which makes zero sense to everyone. I stayed there for 10nights. On the last day, I got to hostel from outside at 10pm. I pushed the buzzer twice and my friend was honking the horn twice. The worker opened the door and said "ARE YOU CRAZY? YOU ARE WITH CRAZY PEOPLE" This two worker were completely high on alcohol and marihuana. I tried to suppress my anger and tried to talk with them to figure it out what problem is. But this guys have completely got insane. They act as if there's no one except them. So I called the owner. But owner has a problem as well. Only one thing he's concerning about is that I'll make a bad review. What I want was their sincere apologize. He didn't seems as though he would apologize about this situation. I've been traveling world 2years. I haven't gotten mad like that night. They should've apologized for this problem, even if I did a mistake! I didn't want to stay with them, I had to change to the other hostel in 12:30AM. DO NOT GO THERE. AVOID THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE AS YOU CAN. There're the another good hostel called FAT CAT, RED CHILLI, BUSH PIG. Spend money little bit more, stay well.

Pretttty sure they have fake reviews on their hostelworld page, it's rated 7.5 for cleanliness. Our room was dirty. I'm not sure when the last time the shower was washed but aiming the shower head at the corners/edges made a bunch of gunk come off easily. Biig dead cockroach in the toilet upon arrival. Biig not dead cockroach in the shower in the morning. The walls were dirty and the floor looked dirty. The inside of the curtain in the room had a bunch of dead bugs stuck on the inside. We had 2 dirty bars of soap left in the bathroom, a very used up one and a less used up one. At least make the soap not look dirty? Aside from that it was nice and comfy and the dogs are nice.

Nice small hostel with friendly staff. Very clean and has a well equipped kitchen for self cooking. One dorm room is very small but the other one is fine. Single and double rooms are good too.

😠 Nkrumah is in a quite sorry state . Decades have passed since they last rehabilitated its urinals . Stench enshrouds most of its corridors all day. It ain't a nice place itself, but at least its residents make it a good place to live in!!
