My husband and I just returned from a 9-day trip to Uganda and we certainly wish we had more time. The country and the people are beautiful but what made the trip even more enjoyable for us was our tour guide Jeffrey from Matoke Tours. He is very knowledgeable, accommodating and has a great sunny personality! Since this is our first trip, we relied a lot on Jeffrey's expertise on how to best spend our short stay and what the local customs are. Overall, it was quite an enriching experience which wouldn't have been possible if we didn't have an excellent guide like Jeffrey. We are also very pleased with the sales team, particularly Sven who has assisted us with the planning of the trip. We wanted to see many places in a limited amount of time, but Sven was able to create an itinerary for us that suited what we wanted and packed it with some of the most exciting activities possible given our short stay... Our trip started with the upmost professionalism when we were greeted by our driver Ronald at Kigali airport. Ronald turned out to be fantastically professional, warm, insightful and very fun to spend our three days with and he kept the whole process running very smoothly. We then drovee from here up through Rwanda and across to the Virunga mountains in Uganda - we stayed nearby at the magical Chameleon Hill hotel which overlooks the beautiful lake Mutanda. The gorilla experience was as magical as we hoped it would be. Ronald was also very helpful in organising a mountain biking and coffee plantation experience on our last day. He enabled us to customise this experience and reduce it down from the half day activity to a few hours which enabled us to still catch our evening flight. Once again thank you to Matoke tours, from start to finish the communication and overall execution was five star. I encourage any reader of this review to visit the Ugandan countryside as it is simply stunning and full of amazing people

Great organization that thinks along with the local population and the environment. The guides are fantastic. Our guide Moses taught us a lot during the walk in Sipi and our other guide John showed us all the beautiful places in Uganda and was always available. Highly recommended!

I didn't have a great experience with Matoke tours. We booked a self-drive holiday in Rwanda. Unfortunately, the car we received was absolutely not in order. And there were some other problems too, mainly due to miscommunication between their local operator and the facilities on site. This showed that Matoke has little experience with self-drives in Rwanda. Afterwards there was an open dialogue with Matoke, which made it clear that they care about their customers. And they are now stopping self-drives in Rwanda. Which is a shame: it is a very beautiful country to drive around in, especially if you want to deviate from the - in this case literally - paved roads. With the guide cars you probably won't get to the inhospitable regions and forgotten villages we passed.
