Like the Red Chilli Rest Camp. Have stayed here 3 separate times as of 1 November 2023. Employees have always been super friendly. Lunch and supper are always very tasty, but breakfast is less than desirable. Make sure you keep your belongings secure because baboons in the area will most certainly try and steal what they can. At night, make sure you have a flashlight if outdoors because the hippos will feed in the camp. Limited electricity in the camp too.

It's beautiful and they have a female hippo that likes to come into the park at night. It was great experience and the staff was friendly and very inviting. The restaurant there was amazing! The food was fantastic.

Great place for low budget. We decided to sleep in our own tent. Washrooms are very close to the campsite and to the open restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The best thing is that they offer packed breakfast as you decide to go for a game drive early in the morning. We had so much fun staying there and will never forget the night at the campfire where we made good friendships.

Just a perfect simple place in the heart of the park. Though it's a bed only accommodation, delicious meals served at a small cost. No wifi but encouraged to make friends rather than to be on your gadgets.

Very nice people and great food. We camped and had a nice spot to perch our tents; at night hippo´s walked right by our tent! (So always pack a flashlight and use it!)

Best known as a budget place but it offers the perfect stay on your visit to Murchison falls National Park. It's affordable, very good food and caring staff. The lack of wifi is to help you disconnect yourself from the modern world and dire connecting you with nature. I highly recommend this place.

We were considering our stay at this lodge's camping grounds. We has to didg out the information from the staff regarding the fact that the restrooms and facilities are out of order and only one remains to accommodate the 60+ guests. We ended up only having lunch there. Where the hamburger was a mix of minced meat with bread, probably to reduce costs, I would recommend anything but this.

Value for money in an accessible location. Just stopped by on our way to visit the Falls. Fantastic to see the camp busy with international tourists once more. #diaryofamuzungu #ExploreUganda

Positive sides of this accommodation is the location in the middle of the park and near the Victoria Nile. Also because of the many young visitors, there was a nice “backpack” vibe in the restaurant area. We had the budget room with en-suite bad room. The bad room was however very old and dirty. The shower curtain was broken when we arrived and there were fungus on multiple spots in the bathroom. The ventilator only worked at fixed times, when a external generator was turned on. Room-wise, this was the worst accommodation we have had in Uganda, even for this price. The staff had some difficulties to show a smile when we greeted them. Also the food they served was below average compared to other accommodations.

Very poor service. Staff is so arrogant, we agreed for safari for 4 hours and then Thier staff was saying that we will start at 4:30 and our 4 hours will finish at 6:30 . Even manager or owner came who is even more arrogant and looks like he don't want customer. The car they was offering us that didn't had even light so it has to come before evening and remember time is 4:30 when we were negotiating . It look like if we would have paid them in advance then they would have taken maximum 1 hours safari . Staff ready to fight . Never seen this kind of people in hotel industry.

I'm happy that my agent chosed this place to stay during my very first safari trip. Room is clean and food are good. All the staffs are friendly. The great part is you can meet other friendly traveler. As the camp is located in the reserve, sometime animal can come in. I didn't see during my stay there. I really wanted to go back again. No charging port in the room, need to charge the devices in the charging point which is in the restaurant. They only have 3 pins port, so you will need to bring travel adaptor with you.

It's a really bargain, because if you want to sleep inside the park all the hotels are expesinve. They offer accomodation for a good price, good services and good rooms. Prices in the restaurant are quite cheap and they serve you very fast, so no bad coments about. The only bad thing was that the dinner was not very tasty but that's a personal thinking.

I can't comment on the rooms as I stayed in the large dome tent which was in any case absolutely adequate. Loved the feel of the place, with both managers and staff being very welcoming and making you feel at home. Love the fact there's no WiFi or music by the bar, allowing for quiet fireside chats in the evening and making new friends. Great budget option inside Murchison Falls park, where other places are needlessly expensive. Located next to a visitors office by the bridge over the Nile, so that even a solo traveller like me can walk out and organise her own activities. Also very close to the place where boats depart for Nile boat safari. Baboons and warthogs roaming freely around the place making it super fun to even just sit and watch nature go by. The restaurant has few choices but very well prepared for all meals. They provide early breakfasts for safari drives and the food is very reasonably priced, which is unusual for a safari lodge where they could easily charge whatever they want. Special shout out to managers Gary, Jax and Susan for the great advice and lovely chats. Great staff members including Salvatore and a everyone else's whose name I can't remember sorry!

Very unpleasant and unprofessional staff, especially manager who could not take the blame. Instead, passed it on to 'untrained staff'. Got to wait for food for hours (even for simple dish for 2 people it took them 2 hours) especially tho there are only 3 dishes available. Electric socket not provided in the room and if you wanted to charge your phone you had to go to a restaurant. Avoid if possible!

Home away from the crowds feels just refreshing. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. It's truly amazing that one can spend a night near a water body and have a sneak peek of the wildlife as they move around. Only condition is no movements outside at night lest you will meet the inhabitants of the reserve and unleash trouble on you. UWA keep doing what you are doing, it is making things better for the tourists.

Located within Murchsion falls national park on the southern side gives you an opportunity to spend nights within the park since many lodges are out of the park. Just by the river banks of the longest river in the world gives you an opportunity to hear and probably see some hippos around the camp in the nights. It’s really budget friendly and has all items sold that you may need while camping if you forgot them like toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.

Affordability and amazing service in one of the worlds top game parks. Red chilli has been built to service the adventurous go getters who are looking to experience park life. The food was really good and the staff are amazing and helfpul. Rooms are simple and bug free, and the place attracts a lot of local park enthusiasts so there is never a short supply of good conversations with amazing people. Lovely view of the nile river and nightly campfires. And their morning coffee was excellent.

Adequate rooms, old but comfortable, showers are slow but warm. Good food at the restaurant. Great location for the boat cruises and the delta.

Great campsite and safari! I would definitely recommend to upgrade to a en-suite bandas as it comes with hot showers. The staff was very friendly and well organised. The highlight were the hippos who visit at night! Gotta be careful but it’s not often that you get to see these lovely creature grassing at your doorstep. The warthogs were also super cute and funny. Had an amazing time! Thanks Red Chilli crew!

Great budget accommodation if you’re looking for a wilderness experience, ranging from basic camping in your own or fixed large tents, to small and larger houses with more facilities. Great bar that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks for a good price. Proximity to wildlife safaris and boat tours is excellent.

  • 4/5 Micah A. 4 years ago on Google
Res chilli's rest camp is an excellent, economical establishment. I enjoyed the wildlife all around, but the grounds left little to do besides sit and talk or drink. The cabins and tents are nice but bare. The restaurant food was filling but bland. Ultimately, the place does not feel like a destination, but rather somewhere convenient to sleep while seeing the park.

Reviewing the "campsite" which consisted of a dirty patch of grass/dirt adjoining the car park, so no privacy or view and was noisy and dirty. the bathrooms and showers are absolutely filthy all the time (we spent 2 nights), also no hot water. no kitchen facilities or running water besides the filthy bathroom. full of aggressive baboons, the place was full of ppl coming and going all day and noisy groups at night. restaurant was grimy and unappealing. the only reason to stay here, is the location which is right next to the park, but if you have any alternative, do yourself a favor and stay away

You won't encounter such unpleasant, not to say rude, employees, as you'll meet here. We arrived at the place and immedietly felt unwelcomed by the staff at reception and kitchen. After deciding not to stay and found another place, came back only to eat and they claimed we did not pay for it in before eating, even we clearly did. As for the rooms, their tents dont have electricity at all, unlike other tents for the same price weve been to in Uganda. As for hot water - they put it as "not often". We found about 5km from there a better value for the same price option (the official park authority UWA lodge).

Great place for budget camping! The tent and beds are comfy, their bar is well equipped, and the staff is helpful. Strongly recommended!

This place has amazing food and hospitality! Very affordable. You do need to ask a lot of questions because the website does not give enough info about their services like their game drives and cruises etc, but you can pretty much book anything when you get here except the rooms they do sell out. Only down fall is no AC but you aren't paying for that. Really really great people and food and sooo affordable! Go across the river if you want a massage or a fancy pool for the day! It is hot in December so bring shorts or a dress that's comfy. Bring mosquito repellent. Do morning game drives to see the cats because it gets hot!!

I am not saying it's 5 star accommodation, but for the budget level, it's really a good experience. The new management of Gary and Jax is making a big difference! The atmosphere is friendly, staff great, wifi steady and Christmas dinner was surprisingly great! The view is superb and I found it to be much more welcoming than many of the upscale lodges.

I have been there a couple of times now , we upgrade to the banda. Always very happy and this year they added solar power to the bandas so you have power all night long instead of the times when they shut off the generator. Food is always prepared fresh and delicious and they do a good packed lunch for whe your doing the game drives/tours

Really bad experience. Crowded place with totally careless and disrespectful personal. Ordered a sandwich, had to repeat 5 time the order and they brought me a salad. I told them I ordered a sandwich they said this is the sandwich. Finally they said that yes cannot be a sandwich without bread and they said no problem, they will put the salad in bread and serve it to me. Finally after an hour they brought me a sandwich but a different one, not what I ordered. Absolutely frustrating experience. Beside that the camp looks like it really needs a refurbish

A lovely place and ambiance with really good food. Lots of choice for breakfast and lunch, dinner options are a little less but still very tasty! The staff were very pleasant and it was nice to meet the two managers (I forget their name). Rooms could do with a bit of work but overall it is a lovely place to meet new people and also relax.

Murchison is a really good place to see game, especially if you want to avoid crowds. And Red Chilli is a nice place to stay. It is simple, the amenities are basic (cold showers, but it is out in the bush), but we had a very good night there. Food was great, a warm welcome from the staff and it is very reasonably priced. Very well located for watching game.

Red Chilli Rest Camp is a great place to get away from it all and connect with nature. The lack of WiFi means that you can really disconnect from the outside world and focus on enjoying your time in the great outdoors. The campground is also a great place to meet new people and make new friends, as everyone is there to enjoy the same thing – being in nature and disconnecting from technology.

One of the few if not the only one budget option in Murchison Falls NP. Friendly staff and very attentive manager. The restaurant tend to be crowded during lunch time with different daily tours.

  • 2/5 Nik B. 8 months ago on Google
What would have been a good experience let down by the service in the restaurant. I understand being delayed due to a large group, but when our meals finally turned up, two were missing. One arrived after everyone else had finished eating together with a message that they were out of ingredients for the other, that they then BEGAN to cook. No apology and no concern from the staff that we were greatly delayed despite needing to be up early in the morning. Two stars as the rest of the place was quite good. The Hideaway was far better.

  • 3/5 Elena Z. 5 months ago on Google
Budget friendly option, yet it has too many drawbacks. To start, the rooms lacked plugs, forcing us to charge our devices in the lobby. Additionally, the electricity was on a schedule, which was understandable in Uganda but still inconvenient. The staff, while often friendly, provided very bad customer service. We were five minutes late for lunch and they couldn't even serve us bread, because it was “impossible”, yet themselves they often take ages to do things. Also like in many national parks, be prepared to spend a significant amount of money on activities, or else you will find yourself stuck in this hostel for a long time. To finish off on the positive side, the view and the campfire in the evening are just amazing.

(Translated by Google) Perhaps the expectations were too high after everything read, after seeing on the page that the card payment was accepted this is not true, they only accept local currency and USD, nothing more, the only alternative they gave us if we wanted to go to the nearest ATM 28 km away, one hour round trip. The famous food is only correct, nothing special and much less if you have already tried the local food, it is the typical food for tourists, the food consists of 3 dishes to choose one, and a menu with sandwiches and hamburgers, dinner only you They let you choose one of the 3 dishes available for dinner, it is advisable to book so you don't stay if it does. Otherwise it is a correct place with the bar and parking too close to the lodging area so sleeping is sometimes difficult, the situation is right at the entrance of the ferry, ideal for game drivers, cold beer and little else , quite passable if it wasn't for the location.

Our stay at the Red Chili Rest Camp was wonderful. Excellent management and staff, good food and a perfect location within the park. I would highly recommend staying here and would gladly do so again. I lived in Uganda for awhile and unfortunately finding service like this is very rare, so it stands out when you find it. Amazing place and people! Thanks for a great stay and for taking such good care of our family.

A nice lodge on a small hill next to the nile. The simple huts and safari tents have no bathroom, but the shared facilities are kept clean and I felt comfortable using them. The prices are fair and the staff very friendly and forthcoming. Sadly, they do not accept Euros, unlike every other place I went to in Uganda (no bank inside the park, no ECash accepted). The accommodation has to be paid at arrival and even the dinner has to be pre ordered and paid in advance.

We had a great time in murchinson reserve. But red chillis was okay. The food was 5/10 at best. But I get it, it’s on a reserve. So that gives the food a 7. They would not warm up our breakfast. They made us pay for the break fast the night before without telling us it would be cold. So we ate cold break fast because the breakfast was cooked the night before. And the server I think his name was Tim or mike was not nice. Credit card fraud! Months later my credit card is still getting charged by them! I had to dispute the charge. Remember Pay these thieves at red chili cash!!!!
