We booked our gorilla tracking a few months in advance to secure our gorilla tracking permits as they only let a certain amount of people enter per day. We went with the company African Adventure Travellers. The company was professional from the beginning emailing us all the necessary information. We paid 680USd per person for a group of 3 people. We hired a driver from Rwanda to take us to kabale the night before, it was about a 3 hour drive. We got our uganda visa ahead of time so the border process was quick. A driver came to pick us up the next morning at 6am, it took about 2 hours to get to bwindi from our hotel. There was a traditional African dance performance and then we were briefed on what to expect. We split off into different groups, each group being paired with a guide and 2 rangers. You can buy gardening gloves for 5USD in the beginning if you didn't bring your own. They came in handy as there are lots of thorny plants and stinging nettles. At the beginning of the trek you can hire porters for 15USd, I highly recommend doing this because they were a huge help not only with carrying your bag, but helping you to not fall in the jungle as well. It also goes towards a good cause, the porters can only come out once a month to get work so it's unfortunate if they don't get hired. We began the trek with a steep incline before heading into the jungle. The trackers set out early in the morning so that you don't have to trek too long to find the gorillas. We spotted our first gorilla within an hour (yay) sometimes it can take up to 6 hours or even 11 our guide told us... And sometimes you don't even get to see them and then people have to get helicoptered out from fatigue which cost $300usd. It was such an amazing experience to see the gorillas up close! They are so adorable. The gorilla got quite close to me twice and I was frightened but the tracker told me not to be afraid of them. All in all it was a great experience except there was one very slow person in our group who couldn't even take 2 steps without being out breath on flat ground. People please train even a little bit before doing this so you don't slow your group down. Afterwards we had lunch for free which was included in our tour package. I highly recommend this tour company !!!

Tommy was our tour guide and Robert was our POC. Our three day tour was excellent, Tommy did everything to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had a great experience. We were picked up from Kampala and dropped in Entebbe. Tommy was an brilliant tour guide, we couldn't have been happier. We chose to stay at the Heritage Lodge, which was actually excellent. By staying at the Heritage Lodge you also get to see much more wildlife than the other 'more expensive' lodges, mainly due to its location - in that you have to drive through to the north of park to get to the lodge. At all times we felt very comfortable. To provide some content, we are a young couple from Chelsea in London

I was thankful to finally be able to return to Uganda after three long years. My brother and I were able to enjoy an extended 4 day trip to Queen Elizabeth Park with a stay at the beautiful and serene Mweya Lodge. I would highly recommend this tour company and this accommodation. Augustine was a very personable guide and we especially appreciated his driving skills. I look forward to returning in the spring!

My experience with the 1 day Ngamba Island Tour was excellent! Robert Mugabe, the CEO and Senior Travel Consultant of African Adventure Travellers, was my driver for the short excursion. He is a very knowledgeable, accommodating, and thoughtful individual. The travel to and from Kampala to Entebbe for the boat launch blew by with easy conversation. Ngamba Island itself is an amazing haven for orphaned chimpanzees and a wonderful learning and sightseeing opportunity. As a solo traveler, I absolutely recommend this company and this excursion. I am eager to explore more of Uganda with African Adventure Travellers!

I can not say enough good things about our tour that we did with African Adventure Travel. We first made contact with Sarah in the office who was extremely helpful with all our questions and concerns. All questions were answered quickly and efficiently. She gave us ability to customize our tour as we chose. We transferred the money through HiFx which she confirmed quickly. On to the tour. Our guide was Xavier. We were so lucky to have such a thoughtful, friendly and passionate guide. He loved what he did, and you could tell. From picking us up and having our first coffee together we imediately hit it off. He had great knowledge of everything that we saw and everywhere that we visited. Even after a long day of "African massage" roads he still was willing to search the park for the animals missing from our collection! He was a very safe driver which be put us at ease on the chaos of the roads. Some of the drives were very long but he never complained. Loved hearing all the stories that he told us and sharing photos with each other at night. No ask was too much. Thank you Xavier for such a magical experience! Our tour was six days which included the main parks of Uganda and Gorilla treking. Six nights was the right amout of time for us. We skipped the chimps as we wanted to get more time doing game drives. We didn't think we would spend that much money but worth taking money for beers 5k - 10k shillings depending on lodge. Soft drinks 2k - 3k. Waterfall hike was $15usd each. Massage 60k We made sure we tipped at each place we went to, as most of the lodges were staffed by the local community. Thank you all at African Adventures!!

Our group booked the two day chimp trekking in Kibale and really enjoyed our time in the forest with the amazing animals. Unfortunately, our great time in the park was preceded by false promises and poor communication. First, Robert of African Adventure Travellers wrote in multiple emails and on our invoice that our lodging would be at Isunga Lodge. Days before the trip, without our consent or notification, he changed the accommodation to a much cheaper budget accommodation. When asked about the change he failed to reply multiple times. He did not refund us for the difference in price between the accommodations. Second, when asked for an itinerary with contact details of guides and a schedule of events, Robert failed to respond and provide requested information. Additionally, he failed to notify our accommodation that we had already paid through the tour company which made for an awkward conversation since the homestay had yet to receive the payment from African Adventures. Given that read receipts confirmed that Robert read the messages from our group, we were greatly disappointed by the lack or organization. Overall, while we enjoyed our trip, we would not recommend AAT since many other more professional companies provide excellent logistics with better accommodation at similar price points.
