The exact location of Dakini is a debated subject. The Shiva Purana and the Koti Rudra Samhita refer to Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga on Dakini hill. Bhimeswar dham at Pamohi is interpreted by the devotees to be the same Dwadas Jyotirlinga. Bhimashankar dham of Pune is also referred by some people as the Dwadas Jyotirlinga. There is no temple here. Instead there is a hill stream surrounding the Shiva Linga and one can observe continuous water flowing over the Linga. There is also a Lord Ganesha temple on the half way to this dham. The road leading to the linga is very beautiful with hills, streams and bamboo grooves.

The Bhimeswar Dwadas Jyotirlinga Dham, one of the Jyotirlingas, is located at Dakini hill (also known as Daini pahar) near Pamohi in Guwahati. It is situated at the hill just besides the Deepor Beel. It is believed that Lord Shiva had incarnated here to destroy a demon called Bhimasura and protect his devotees. The place is debated to be one of the 12 jyotirlingas as per legends. We went there and the place has a very calm ambience, located at a beautiful place outside the busy areas of the city. One can go there by booking ola/uber ( costs around Rs 300 from paltan bazar one way), a round trip from paltan Bazaar by an auto will also cost around Rs 600-700 and if you want to use public transport, one can find sharing rides easily from Gorchuk. An important point while visiting the temple is to visit it during the day only otherwise it becomes too dark as it is looked inside forest.

It's a lesser known but a peaceful and quite place. May be crowded on occasion of festival. It's worth visiting if you are in Guwahati. The pandits also do not insist upon dakhshina as observed at kamakhya temple.

Bhimashankar Mandir, perched atop a hill, is a celestial retreat offering a breathtaking blend of tranquility and beauty. The ascent to the temple unveils panoramic vistas, preparing visitors for a spiritually enriching experience. The serene ambiance at the summit resonates with divinity, creating a profound sense of peace. The temple's architectural splendor complements the natural grandeur, making it a haven for those seeking solace. The presence of a flowing mountain stream enhances the allure, adding a melodic touch to the sacred surroundings. Bhimashankar Mandir is not just a religious destination; it's an elevated sanctuary where one can truly feel the divine amidst the harmonious symphony of nature.

The shrine is fully surrounded with nature and it's beauty. Usually heavy rush during Shravana Month as people come from all directions to worship the nature built SHIVLINGA in the midst of spring water flowing all the seasons. Let's come to BHIMASHANKAR to offer your soulful prayer and enjoy Beaty of this religious shrine.

Perfect holy shrine for Lord Shiva, situated amongst the hills and near a small waterfall. The road is well built and you can easily take a car to the gate when allowed. If the place is crowded then vehicles aren’t allowed. The stairs are quite slippery if it’s rainy, be very careful. Dusk time is good as people are less and you can easily reach the shivling. Have the prasad on your way back, which is a good full meal.
