A fine place to look at, has lodging facilities as well. The food is quite decent, some may even love it. Service is good, noticed all guests being attended to. There is a waiting area but I would recommend that you take the stairs to the first floor and have a look around the entire place. They have done a very good job of restoration. Being on the banks of Hooghly, the view from the balcony on the first floor does open up to the river and it is quite pretty. The rooms on offer are quite huge. Makes for a quiet weekend away from Kolkata.

It’s a heritage property of colonial time. The ambience was good, except that very much disappointed with management, hospitality, and food. Let’s start from the beginning. Long waiting hours, that is highly boring. You have to book a table but they don’t book it online or through phone call. You have to go there physically and book. In every holiday they place is over crowed and you have to wait for long hrs even . Food was extremely average and pricey. Nothing very special about the taste. But the pocket pinch will remain high. The property has a very wonderful view from the balcony, but they(management people) don’t allow people to be there ( a particularly reserved spot for people who are staying with them in the hotel section), so if you went there to dine-in so they will not allow you. I went there once and I will not recommend to visit anyone. You are not missing out anything. Or if you really eager to visit then that’s your choice.

It looks very good from outside, u will feel like going inside, sit and little chit chat. But the people working over will give completely different vibe. You will feel u aren't welcome over there, kind of judged. They have different tone for regular customers, coming in car and different for you. Kind of indirectly telling you wait as in we don't want you here, we have long queue, they will take your number but will never bother to call, u see others coming later getting the tables but not you. The food is okay only. If i have to visit again, I will do for the ambience around, but will prefer not to sit inside and pay for being an unwanted guest in the place. Would not recommend to my friends too.

Ambiance is really good, just beside the bank of Ganges. You can easily go that place by own car / bike or toto / auto. I went there for evening snacks and not happy with the quality of food. It was not as much as I expected and as well not the value for money. I think they need to improve the quality of the food. One interesting thing. In their menu card. There are 6/7 kind of coffee. And I liked to order one of them. When I told about it to the person (who was taking order), he said for that coffee I need to order it to the flurries (just beside) and then they will serve me here. :) I was little confused, as they put the item in the menu card, then why a customer will order in some other place and come back to the restaurant and get it. If any restaurant puts any item in there menu card, they should take the order and then their duty to serve it as per my understanding. The place is very clean including toilet area as well.

We went for Sunday brunch. And waited for around 1 hour before we could manage a table. The place was nice with an old charm. As the whole building complex was renovated recently. The style of the architecture is colonial. Food was okay, nothing special. A tad bit pricy even considering the ambiance. The main attraction is undoubtedly the ambiance along with the interior. However, do not get surprised if you are not allowed to roam around freely due to some photo shoot or some shooting. It's location will come second in the attraction list. Great view of the Ganges, close proximity to the Serampore Railway station, recently renovated colonial buildings in nearby area all add to the unavoidable charm of the place. Management is pathetic. The behavior from the staffs is equally miserable.

The only star given is for the heritage property and the renovation took place. The property is beautiful, just adjacent to the river, it will definitely thrill you reading the history of the place and specially the advertisement about The Denmark Tavern in The Calcutta Gazette in 1786. Historically the place deserves more than 10 stars on 10. Coming to the food, 1. Going there expecting European cuisine was the biggest mistake, the menu was neither European nor Chinese nor Indian. Its a mix up of all the cuisines but then also in a very weird way where only few dishes you can find in each cuisine. 2. The quality of the food is bad. 3. The service is bad. 4. Few of the dishes are not available. (Among only few in the menu). 5. The taste is not good at all. In my opinion any road side shack will taste better than this food. 6. It's OVERPRICED. VERY EXPENSIVE. It can be expensive but for the quality of the food they provide it is not at all worth. 7. Very less tables and very long waiting time. OVERALL , NOTHING IS WORTH AS THE FOOD IS TOO BAD. The harsh reality is, this restaurant is the only option of it's own kind around the locality, hence everyone tries their luck.

This is the night mare of my life for taking decision to visit there . I have ordered fish fry . It's rotten fish they serve. They don't know how marinate. No taste inside the fish. After that horrible main course came. I have taste worst chilli chicken in my life. It's raw chicken inside nothing else. I have to throw all the dishes . I don't know who recruit the chef. I can get better food in road side stall.the fried rice and hakka noodles all the dishes are very bad and tasteless. It's not just tasteless it's weird. Don't visit this restaurant to waste your money. Very disappointed from hotel like park who run this restaurant.

One of the most popular places to eat in Serampore, this place possesses a rich history. However the food wasn’t the best. It was good enough of course. I’ve had a creamy chicken and mushroom on toast. The toast was crunchy and the creamy chicken and mushroom had a thick consistency. However, the chicken pieces were too big. I’m not saying it was bad however, according to the dish, the size wasn’t suiting at all. The overall taste was good though.

Man...their property was too awesome. If you like to visit something old or heritage you must visit this place...but,I think they need to improve their meal...I mean the food was average but the place was too good. Just because of the property I'm giving the 4 star.❤️

Place, location, ambience, lighting all are on top. Clean washroom. However Little bit disappointed ☹️ with the foods. Food taste could be better and portion is little on lesser side. One can pay a visit to the place. Your mood will be uplifted with the ambience. If you are foodie like me, the. You can be Little disappointed ☹️.. The pic is of the Danish Roast chicken which costs 475 bucks including GST, however it's not a complete meal for one. And taste is very very very disappointing. Overall i rate this place as 3.8/5 . Thanks 🙏🏻.

All hype, no substance. To clarify, we went there for lunch at the restaurant; not for staying in the hotel. Apart from the location and the charming ambience, nothing stands out. We went quite late in the afternoon for lunch. The restaurant wasn't completely full. Despite that, the service was quite slow and it took almost 40 mins after ordering for the main course to be served. The food itself was quite ordinary; the quantity didn't justify the price. Also, for a restaurant with the name 'Danish' in it, there were hardly any Danish options available to choose from. If you must go, we recommend going with a full stomach to enjoy the view/heritage of the building. P.S: Some photoshoots were happening while we were there. This seems to be a regular occurrence. It was a minor nuisance as the entrance to the restaurant was occupied by those folks and we had no place to wait while our table was being readied for us.

The food was good but was a bit pricey and the service was very slow. I found it very funny when they said that they don't serve regular water due to covid19 but serve mineral water and other food. Then again, they don't have hot coffee or ice cream available to serve(both present on menu) but they had no problem with serving cold coffee with ice cream. The room tariffs were very high with the maximum tariff being ₹7500/- per night for the river facing rooms. Overall, a decent experience for 1 time visit.

I don't know whether the reviews have been purchased or not.. But i did not find the space comfortable enough... Poor service... Almost no dishes are available... Therefore had to orders foods as per the availability... The waiters were not around to take the orders.. Everything was very messy... I thought at least the food would be good but unfortunately it was not either. The food quality was simply worst... The pasta was comparatively good but the Suasage was only boiled.. And nobody came forward to serve it was a self served service and lastly the chicken within the drumstick was not cooked well... They did not have lemons can you believe this? That is why they failed to provide even a simple lime soda drink... Highly disappointed...

One of the most aesthetic and instagram-worthy cafes in Serampore. The ambience is very good, paired with soft music. Coming to the food, I would totally recommend the beverages, specially, cold coffee, cold coffee with ice cream, and the chocolate milkshake. (Price range 120-150) However, coming to the snacks, the quality and quantity of the food are not worth the penny.

Rarely we find an establishment that scores high on all three counts. Stayed in two of their Deluxe suites and the food was very good. The location is superb and the staff is exceptionally welcoming. The price point may seem steep but i look at it as an investment in an overall experience. Went with my parents and friends. We came back with great memories.

We went for lunch. The food was good, the ambience great. We ordered Pasta Chicken, chicken sausages and Chicken Schnitzel which happens to be their signature dish. Service was good. The place has some pretty good spots for photography. A good choice for having a meal if you're going on a long drive to Shrirampur with friends or family.

Denmark Tavern: A peek into the past. Pros: It was built and managed by British Inn keeper James Parr in this Danish settlement. In late 1880s with Calcutta becoming major trading hub for the English and the Danes finally selling it off the British in 1839. In 2014 restoration of the property started and it finally opened its doors for public in 2018. It is now managed as a boutique hotel by The Park. Cons: Badly overpriced with no proper reason for it being a premium priced place. The Park Management seems to be unconcerned about the service and the look. With a tandoori roti at ₹200 a piece one at least expects a modicum of table setting. Not plates placed carelessly and cutlery stacked in front. The prices are obnoxious. The decor doesn't go with the name. The main heritage door is blocked , the bar is for members and the rooms are grossly overpriced. The chinese food was nothing different from any other roadside place and one had to ask twice for the accompanying sauces. Sad that what can be a really good heritage attraction is slowly heading towards mediocrity.

We'd ordered a mix-n-match snack platter, mixed as in 🐟 Fry , Luchi n Cholar Dal, and a Danish baked 🥦🥕🌽 along with fresh 🍋 water.. .. Best of the trio goes to the Danish food- item, the fish fry was hot n spicy 😋, rest were ok, but of course compensated by the regal interiors and the quiet ambience!

One star is for the novelty of the heritage property dated 1786 though it could have been better maintained. Had gone there for lunch last Sunday and came back after having early dinner. Courtesy the slack work culture at the eatery. 2 hours waiting time is normal on holidays. Food was sub par after all that wait. Rice was half cooked. Chicken curry was spicy but lacked salt, mixed Chowmin hardly had the mix. Order only snacks items like fish fry and cold coffee if you are visiting anyway. We had heard bad reviews but had decided to give it a try anyway. Now repenting.

Nice place. It is a heritage building restored by The National Museum of Denmark. Present operator of this tavern serves good quality food. Though the food price is costlier than other good restaurants in Serampore. You can read about the history of this building from two plaques at the entrance. It is actually a enthralling experience inside this heritage building with friends and families while being served great quality food.

As we went there with a lot of expectations (seeing all reviews & lots of travelogues), ended up with dissatisfaction and disappointment. Location & ambiance of 5 starred category but the most important thing of any restaurant is it’s food quality. That is the below per of this place. We have ordered fish fries, chicken capsicum pizza & Americano coffee. Fish fries are of very low graded fish & pizza with a stinky smells (as it’s may be not fresh enough). Although coffee was good. They have 5-6 types of coffees in their menu but serve only 2-3 items, rest you have to order at Flurys (outside of the restaurant) by your own which seems to be very odd. You can visit once if you are around this place.

If you just want to get the flavor of old heritage buildings then surely Ambience stands out perfectly but otherwise, food wise nothing great. Overpriced, and Bengali dishes are not at all good. Italians n continental are still better. The most irritating is they only serve mineral water bottles cost 50/- and have no option for regular filter water. So if you're going there you can buy the same bottle from the outside local shop in 20/- and go.

Really disappointing experience. My mother went there with her friends today, and they were told they won't be given water unless they buy a sealed bottle! They repeatedly told the staff that providing filter water along with the food is basic service, but the staff simply refused. Also, the restaurant has introduced a thousand new rules and regulations. You can't drink coffee or tea in the restaurant, you'll have to do it at the adjacent Flurys shop. Really makes no sense. Also, not worth paying so much money, because nobody shows even basic decency and courtesy. The food is average.

Except for the environment in and out of this place, there is absolutely nothing interesting... The food was exceptionally bad in taste, and the price was too high for that quality of food... The waiter asked me whether I will take shrimps in the mixed rice or not, and then when I told them yes, I was delivered a mixed rice without shrimps, chicken in the rice was barely noticeable. And don't worry, with your entire strength, you won't be able to tear the chicken in the chilli chicken plate by using a spoon or even a fork for that matter... Just horrible food... Otherwise, the ambience inside is probably 3 stars but outside, it is the most blissful place next to the Ganges...

I visited The Denmark Tavern yesterday with my family. There were 6 of us. We were all highly disappointed by the food and dining experience. The ambience was good and the tavern itself is very well maintained and clean, but the restaurant and food quality is absolutely terrible and disappointing. First of all the portions were very small and the food - the chicken curry and peas pulao - was absolutely tasteless. The chicken portions consisted of the unwanted pieces like head and feet, which made us lose our appetite. Very bad dining experience. A big thumbs down.

It is a lovely place to enjoy your meals with your near ones. It is situated in a beautiful location, near the river Ganga. It is a heritage restaurant. It has also a hotel where you can stay. The foods are really awesome especially the desert items. But the price of the food is bit high compared to the quantity of food. Otherwise it is a good place.

Ideal for a daylong visit in the winters..with the number of heritage resort options available a 7k to 8k price tag for the rooms did not appeal to me. You will find a nice outdoor cafe by Flurys..which I think can be made better...the dining area, the balcony, the hallways give a nice feeling when you walk around. The property is currently managed by The Park so I was expecting better service at the reception area which is being managed by one hassled security person. The food menu has several options in Indian, Chinese, continental and high tea.

This place is literally awesome ❤ This place has the feel of a heritage building and is itself a heritage site. The ambience is really nice. And about the service, well, the service is pretty slow. We had to wait for a long time to get a table and then again we had to wait for a long time to get the food we ordered. The quality and taste of the food is really great. There are varieties of options in the menu. Well, I wanted to rate it 3 star because of the service but I'll give it a 4 star because of the food and the ambience.

Food is very mediocre, menu has no variety. Couldn't believe that this is owned by the Park group. Are you actually expecting guests to visit a heritage "Danish" tavern and munch on Chicken Manchurian and Biriyani? The Danish Pastry is however a must-try. Very much over-hyped, no parking facility. The location beside the beautiful Ganga river-bank, yet none of the outside scenery can be enjoyed from the inside. Disappointed, to say the least. Interior decoration and its heritage value are probably the only good things about this establishment.

Started the year, having lunch from the famous "Denmark Tavern". The place is located right next to the Ganges, with a panoramic view of the river! The management of the place is taken care by "THE PARK" group. The things we ordered were: 1)We ordered two drinks(wine and a pint of beer) 2)Chicken Schnitzel(which was not up to the mark),it could have been way better. 3)Chicken with veggies, which was beautifully balanced and delicious as well! 4)Carrot Cake Just wanted to note down a few points: 1)Please arrive early, to avoid the long queue. The seating area should increased I think! 2)The place itself is a heritage, people will find the menu limited and nothing to go gaga for! It would cost around 2500/- for two But the location was mesmerizing!

The property has old English vibes 👍🏼 good interiors, good for taking photos. 👎The food was really bad. Hardly took pics of the food we ordered. The prices are very high for the quality and quantity as well👎. The danish muffin was just out the the microwave oven- soggy 👎. They did not even have beer mugs, they served beer in water glasses👎. And after travelling so far, the journey and visit is not worth it.👎👎👎👎👎

This is a nice restaurant which has a historical value to it. People who love historical places will love this. The food here is by the Park Hotel and it is pretty good and reasonably priced. Bengali, North Indian, Chinese, Italian and Danish cuisines are available. We tried the Danish items. There were sausages, roasted chicken, grilled fish, fish fry and danish pastry with icecream. We tried all except the chicken roast. We also tried the manchow soup. The food overall was quite good with decent quantity and price. The waiting time around weekends is almost 1 hr during lunch time. They said it is less crowded during the weekdays. Overall it is a nice experience and I would like to visit again.

We have expected a very high price due to location and park undertaken, but we were very surprised to look at the quantity and pricelist! Even they allow tale away from flurries and have it in the main restaurant along with ordered food! Flurries is decently priced too, I don't know how, 100 rs pastry is available there...I would like to visit again at daytime, as we went for dinner and cudnt visit the beautiful terrace.

A property by The Park Hotel in Sreerampur, the hotel is quaint with rooms and a riverside view for you to enjoy. The hotel has a restaurant which serves Bengali food and liquor as well. The service was fast and prompt with the servers and the guards being very helpful and head warming to talk to . The only chink in the armour would be the prices which are a bit on the higher side for the area and there are not a lot of vegetarian options.

I would rather say I had an okayish experience. So i visited the Place on a national holiday for which we had to wait... The food was really good, we opted for the continental dishes... So 5/5 for food... But it was so hot inside and crowded that those Air Conditions were not even working... So after waiting for hours if you have to eat in an uncomfortable environment that is not ideal. This place is ideal for winter visit.

The food was not good, was heavy in salt and the service was worse. The staff also seems unprofessional and doesn't seem to care about the customer. The food quantity is also quite less and the quality is not anything special as per the price. Not recommended at all, there are better food places to try and explore and this can be excluded if anyone wants to try havinh good food. Also the historical history of the place can't be seen since everything is locked by behind doors and there is nothing that could be any reason to visit the place.

The dining experience fell short of expectations with mediocre food that failed to justify the steep prices. It seemed like the primary appeal was more for Instagram-worthy aesthetics than the actual culinary experience. Disappointing overall.

we went for dinner and it was just an awesome experience. Food is served on time and it tastes great. 1. We felt the grilled fish was a bit salty 2. over all the quantity was less than expected everything else was good.

An absolutely delightful experience. Food menu is delicately chosen and though the waiting time was 20 mins, it was worth the wait. The service staff are polite and amicable.

To feel the charm of history you must visit this place at least once. They serve liquor too. Taste Danish style sausage and roast and a cup of coffee of course. A good place to spend your leisure time .

It's a cafe and restaurant along the banks of the Ganges, located at Serampore. You can also stay here. It hails from the British era. Now it is well maintained. It specializes in Danish style preparations. Besides, it also serves Bengali, Indian and Chinese cuisine.

Great food, more than enough portions but limited options. Seating capacity is also mot much. On weekends waiting time may go upto 2 to 2.5 hours. No issues with parking space. Great location for naturalists, very nostalgic but not favourable as per accessibility.

Very nice place to hang out with friends and family. Wonderful ambience. It is a must visit place to get a beautiful taste of old heritage. Foods and liquors are bit overpriced.

The term horrible service is an understatement. We booked a room for a daycation. The place holds the authentic charm of old tavern but the service Mars it all. Minimum 1. 5 hour wait for 2 plates of chicken sandwich and 2 plates of chicken pakora some coffee. The main course was ordered 1.30pm and we waited with full family till 3 15p to get the starters served and then no food was given till 4pm and we had to remind that the plates have dried up with no food. No apology or effort to rectify. If Park is reduced their standards to this well I have nothing to say. If u wanna just enjoy the house u can do that but don't expect much in service

Actually I wanted to rate this hotel.4 star for its service and maintenance. But the food, the ambience, the river bank location, the beautiful architecture and over all feel couldn't let me do so. This place is really good, certainly needs a professional guidance and management as it has huge potential. But keeping all this things apart, this property is still good. Looking forward to visit again.

Only one star for the beautiful well maintained property. Had to wait for 2 hours for lunch on a weekday. Very very poor service. Food was just okay. Most of the dishes on menu were not available. In all an overly hyped place. Go there for coffee and cake at flurry’s there rather than the restaurant.

I don't like the food served here. Over priced and taste is average. Just an old colonial time buliding hence it has some historical value. Rest the place is average considering the taste of food and menu. Recently they started acohol here. View of the river from the balcony is awesome. Many movies or series have been short here.

Ambience is good with touch of Danish architecture. The place is beside river Ganges that makes it even more serene. On the flip side they could do better in service and food options are limited. The food taste and portion is just ok or below average. They also serve liquor.

Ambience is good, food is average, but considering the location you can't deduct more than one star. Menu is light on the pocket, especially few dishes which are bang for your buck. Grilled fish was the best thing I tasted.

Before pandemic, the service at d restaurant was very good.. But now d service and food quality has become average, specially d continentals. Continental dishes were really good before. But now its really poor..

A place that is maintained by the PARK hotel. Touch of danish heritage is surely an eye catcher. However the food, not the best suit for my tongue. Ambience - the ambience the really amazing. Under controlled temperature, this place is really nice for the eyes. Specially the first floor balcony, from where you can see the river Ganga. The sitting arrangement is actually better at the balcony, but I do not think that food is served there for the regular diners. 10/5 Hospitality - the behavior of the staffs are really good. Usually some people think that in such classy places language can be a problem, but here they are really professional and helpful. 5/5 Food - Seemed a little overpriced though the ambience covers for that fact. We took a chicken pizza and their signature danish style chicken sausage. Danish style chicken sausage - It seemed too bland for my tastebuds. The pasted chicken chunks were soft and tossed with some Caramelised onions, still it was missing something I can't tell. 2.5/5 Chicken pizza - it tasted good and had good portions of chicken, onion and bell paper. However, the crust seemed to be thicker than usual. Still it was nice. 3.5/5

Amazing vibe and environment. Too good a place. Great food, just slightly on the costlier side. But becomes a must visit place. Good staff behaviour.

I wish I could give a negative star if there was an option. This was the worst experience ever. I had been looking forward to visiting The Denmark Tavern, but I will never again visit this awful godforsaken place again. Not only was there a very limited items of food available, the service was worse. The waiters were least bothered about the inconvenience that they were causing to the customers. We waited an hour for the food which never arrived. I would never recommend this to anyone. It is sad to see that an establishment run by The Park, has fallen down to such degraded service.

The much discussed Denmark Tavern..precisely Danish Tavern adds to the Danish relics of Srerampore.. After the renovations they stl reflect the past glory..the cream white setting ..the wooden chairs and tables..the wooden hanging lights..and the food.. Well..food is just perfect..rather was..sadly..due to the pandemic situations..some items are missing among the mentioned menu chart...its a bit hear breaking that we really miss those delicacies..anyways..let's criss our fingers and wait for a refreshing experience.. We didnot get the chance to spend nights in the first floor bedrooms..though desire to have that experience some day..

The place is good in terms of view and location. Foods are very overpriced. The quantity is also less. One dish can serve only one person. Don't try the chicken tart. It's a very small dish which costs 600 Rs. It was a waste of money to order that. Service was ok but they took some time to serve the food.

All the 4 stars for amazing renovation work done and preserving history so well. 1 star less for the very average food and unavailability of most dishes. However, food is affordable, staffs are helpful specially their security guard who takes the booking at the reception. He is extremely helpful.

A piece of Danish history in Bengal, at the river front. Visit for the historical importance. Recently renovated, gives you a feeling of an old world charm. Food quality can be far better, exorbitant in price and less portion size. One time dining spot! Iconic significance of the place attracts tourists.

We ordered for soup, golden fried prawn, roasted chicken and chicken lollipop. Food was average. Roasted chicken was hard. Only fried prawn was really very good. Staffs were courteous but overall service was below average. Very slow and didn't get many desired items ( which are mentioned in the menu card). This was not expected from a place which is run by THE PARK Going from Kolkata is not advisable.

Food doesn't taste good. Very limited menu. They offer hard drinks in a sober ambience. Food, though, tastes below average.

Very nice ambience, as if we are sitting in a cafe which dates back to the 18th Century. Quality of food is very good. Danish food is always recommended. 👌👌👌✌️

Old heritage building. Great architecture. The interior ambience was great and well maintained. The staffs are very good and polite. Maintained by THE PARK group. Food taste and quantity is average as per the price which is a on the higher side.

A very nice place to have a dinner. A warm welcoming, followed by an excellent service, with a lot of attention to details on order to please you. The taste was fabulous. The service always with a smile and very patient with us. Conclusion, if you have the opportunity to go eat there, do not hesitate !

To get a feeling different from the normal restaurants, do get here. Besides the river Ganga, an awesome place to spend a few hours here. Try the Danish dishes, they are exceptional. Last but not the least, the place needs to be experienced once.

The place succeeds in giving an old- world charm. Nice place by the river. But the charges for night stay are on the higher side

This place will take you to the British Era.. Ancient old building well maintained.. It's situated across the bank of river Ganga with amazing interior.. We had the in house special and the delicious authentic Danish sausages and pasta..

The Ambience and the restored heritage building is awesome. Food is not up to the mark. No danish delicacies ordered by us has been taste like a Denmark Danish food. Didn't expect that from Park hotel.
